BALL x PIT’s first major update, The Regal Update, launched January 26, 2026, as a free update for owners. It adds an unlockable Endless Mode alongside two characters, eight balls and three passive items. Endless Mode becomes available after you finish the game, letting you choose to continue deeper into a run after defeating an area boss.
What The Regal Update adds
Developer Kenny Sun’s announcement describes four parts of the update: two playable characters, eight new balls, three new passives and Endless Mode. The update is free for owners, according to the PlayStation Blog announcement and the official Steam announcement.

Two new characters
- Falconer fires two balls launched by birds flanking the screen, creating a wide, swooping spread.
- Carouser has a personal gravity field that pulls shots away from their usual trajectories.
New balls and passives
The update adds eight balls. Sun’s announcement names Banished Flame, Fireworks, Stone Ball, Brimstone Ball and Landslide, while teasing the remaining additions rather than identifying all eight in that post. The three named passives are Deadeye’s Impaler, Grotesque Artillery and Iron Onesie.
How to unlock and play Endless Mode
Endless Mode is a post-completion option, not a separate mode available from the start. Finish the game to unlock it. During a run, after defeating an area boss, you can choose whether to continue deeper into the pit. If you proceed, the run continues as long as you survive; the developer describes escalating pressure and no finish line.

Kenny Sun wrote that “Players demanded an Endless Mode so much, it grew to the top of the priority list.” The announcement does not give a specific run-length or difficulty figure.
How the new content unlocks
The Steam announcement says the update’s content unlocks through progression. If you had already beaten the game, the announcement says the content should be unlocked, except for blueprints that still need to be found in levels. The note does not specify a separate unlock condition for each individual item.

Where The Regal Update sits in the update timeline
The Regal Update was the first of three free updates described in the January announcement; it is not the latest update in that sequence. The developer later announced The Shadow Update for April 27, 2026, then described The Naturalist Update as the final free content update, with an August 6, 2026 release date. Those dates and descriptions appear in the developer’s April announcement and July announcement.
