Batman: Arkham Shadow is a substantial single-player Arkham adventure built for virtual reality, not a port of a traditional console game. It brings combat, stealth, detective work and traversal into first-person VR—and it runs on Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S. Whether it is the right buy depends on how much you want to inhabit Batman’s world through a headset, and whether its physical combat and navigation suit you.
What is Batman: Arkham Shadow?
Batman: Arkham Shadow is a single-player VR action-adventure developed by Camouflaj and published by Oculus Studios. Camouflaj describes it as an official Arkham entry made in collaboration with Warner Bros. Interactive, DC and other studios; Rocksteady is not the game’s primary developer. The story unfolds on July 4, as Batman investigates a new threat from the Rat King and his followers in Gotham. It is set between Arkham Origins and Arkham Asylum, according to Android Central’s review. DC’s game listing and the Meta Horizon Store listing identify the game and its premise.
Can I play Batman: Arkham Shadow on Quest 3S?
Yes. The official Meta listing supports Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S. The available sources do not establish compatibility with Quest 2 or other headsets, so do not assume an older Quest can run it. Check the live listing for compatibility before buying.
Meta’s current Quest product page advertises a Quest 3S bundle that includes Batman: Arkham Shadow. The offer is for qualifying purchases through December 31, 2026, subject to terms. Bundle inclusion may depend on the exact configuration, seller and eligibility; confirm the offer at checkout rather than assuming every Quest 3S purchase includes the game.

Quest 3S or Quest 3?
Both headsets are supported. Meta’s product page lists Quest 3S at $349.99 for 128 GB or $449.99 for 256 GB, and Quest 3 starting at $599.99. These are prices shown on that page, not guaranteed retailer prices. Compare the current total cost, storage, comfort and display/lens experience, and check whether the exact headset configuration comes with the game. The available evidence does not establish a game-specific performance advantage for either headset.
How does the game play in VR?
The game adapts recognizable Arkham activities to first-person VR. You examine crime scenes, investigate, move through Gotham, use gadgets and fight enemies. The ESRB describes first-person traversal, crime-scene examination, undercover missions and combat against cultists, thugs and police. Android Central’s review describes stealth, gliding, grappling, Batarangs, gadgets and detective mode alongside VR-adapted Arkham combat.

That perspective is the main draw: you perform Batman’s actions rather than watching him from behind. In its review, Android Central praised the combat, story, voice work and VR mechanics. Those are the reviewer’s judgments, not a guarantee that every player will find the controls or physical demands comfortable.
Combat, movement and comfort
Combat asks you to engage physically, which can make it awkward while seated, according to Android Central. If you prefer seated play, or find repeated arm movements uncomfortable, that caveat matters before you buy. The same review found the map and navigation tools could be better, so expect some friction when orienting yourself rather than assuming the city’s wayfinding is effortless.

How long is Batman: Arkham Shadow?
Android Central estimates the story at 10–15 hours, with challenge missions adding more play. Treat that as one reviewer’s estimate, not a fixed completion time: pace, play style and optional content affect how long you spend with it.
Is Batman: Arkham Shadow worth playing?
It is a strong fit for players who want a full-length, story-led Batman adventure designed around VR and who enjoy acting out combat and movement in a headset. Its combination of investigation, stealth, gadgets and traversal gives the experience more range than a game built around fights alone.

It is a less certain fit if you mainly want a traditional third-person Arkham game, need combat to work comfortably while seated, or value clear navigation above immersion. The practical decision is not whether it is objectively the “most epic” VR release—there is no defined comparison set or metric that proves that superlative—but whether first-person VR makes this particular Arkham story appealing to you.

The ESRB rates Batman: Arkham Shadow T for Teen for Language, Mild Blood and Violence. Its rating summary mentions punches and kicks, silent choke takedowns, small bloodstains, a stabbing in a cutscene, profanity and a raised middle finger.

Release timing and updates
The localized Meta store listing gives October 21, 2024 as the release date, while Camouflaj’s launch announcement says the game became available October 22, 2024. Those listings may reflect regional release timing. Camouflaj’s launch announcement also described planned free content, quality-of-life improvements and critical bug fixes; that was a statement of the plan at launch, not a guarantee of a current support schedule. Android Central reports that a New Game+ update arrived in 2025. The Meta listing shows version 1.4.1, but check the live listing for later changes.
