The Battlefield 6 Battle Royale map is called Fort Lyndon. EA revealed it as the setting for Battlefield REDSEC when the free-to-play experience launched on October 28, 2025. Set in Southern California, Fort Lyndon combines a beach community with military facilities, neighborhoods and destructible combat spaces.
What is the Battlefield 6 Battle Royale map called?
The launch map is Fort Lyndon. EA described it as “part SoCal beach community, part military blacksite,” bringing together urban centers, suburban neighborhoods and dense military compounds. The setting is Southern California; the official launch materials do not give a geographic area measurement.

EA called Fort Lyndon its largest Battlefield map at launch. That is the publisher’s characterization, not a numeric or independently verified comparison.
What locations are on Fort Lyndon?
EA’s Season 1 Mission Brief described nine major points of interest, linked by 16 additional POIs. Named launch-era locations include:
#1 Best Overall
- The ultimate all-out warfare experience.
- MULTIPLAYER Victory, however you envision it. Battlefield 6 has more ways to win than ever before.
- GLOBAL SCALE CAMPAIGN Join an elite squad of Marine Raiders fighting relentlessly to save a world on the edge of collapse.
- PORTAL Battlefield Portal is a massive sandbox where creators and players can push Battlefield to the limit. Take unprecedented control of your environment by moving, scaling, and duplicating objects.
- Pre-order Battlefield 6 Standard Edition and get the Tombstone Pack*, featuring: - Gravedigger Soldier Skin - “Fallen Heroes” Player Card - “Bandolier” Weapon Charm - “Express Delivery” Weapon Sticker - “Hatchet” L110 Weapon Package - “Doomsayer” Soldier Patch - Tombstone XP Boost Set
- Marina and Jewel Beach
- Main Street and a Lighthouse
- Military Storage and R&D complexes
- Oil Pumps
The mix supports different kinds of engagements: streets and buildings offer close-range routes, while open coastal or industrial spaces can create longer sightlines. Military compounds add another kind of terrain. These are design implications of the locations EA described, not claims about measured combat performance.
How did Battle Royale work at launch?
EA’s October 2025 launch materials described matches for up to 100 players, in either of these formats:
| Launch format | Players | Team size |
|---|---|---|
| Squads | 25 squads, up to 100 players total | Four players |
| Duos | 50 duos, up to 100 players total | Two players |
Those figures describe the launch format; they should not be assumed to reflect the current playlist or rules without checking a current official update or the game itself. The mode uses a closing ring, and squads can collect loot, take on missions and advance class Training Paths for rewards.

What makes Fort Lyndon different from a conventional arena?
Fort Lyndon’s launch description emphasized Battlefield-style destruction and vehicles alongside the familiar Battle Royale loop. Players could breach walls, demolish buildings and use the resulting rubble as cover. Vehicles named by EA included helicopters, boats and golf carts.
That combination makes the map more than a sequence of intact buildings and open ground: cover can change during a fight, and vehicles offer ways to move through or contest different areas. The launch material describes these mechanics but does not establish how every feature works in the current build.
Is Fort Lyndon free to play?
Fort Lyndon is part of Battlefield REDSEC, EA’s free-to-play Battlefield experience. EA said REDSEC can be played without owning Battlefield 6, so the base game is not a prerequisite for accessing the experience. See EA’s REDSEC launch announcement for the original details.

What has changed since the reveal?
Fort Lyndon was revealed for REDSEC’s Battle Royale launch on October 28, 2025. EA has continued updating REDSEC since then. Its later Season 4 roadmap referred to REDSEC and Ranked Battle Royale polish in a required update. A Season 5 preview described planned features including reconnecting to an ongoing Battle Royale match after a crash or disconnection, and recommended drop zones for Casual BR newcomers. Those roadmap and preview references show continued development; they do not confirm the present playlist, map rotation or patch state.
For the launch-era map and mode description, EA’s Season 1 Mission Brief gives the POI count and examples.
