Updated October 8, 2026. Battlefield 6 launched on October 10, 2025. It is a 2027-set shooter with a nine-mission campaign, class-based multiplayer and Portal creation tools. EA says four seasons have been added; Season 5 is the beginning of Year 2, with some announced features still subject to change.
What is Battlefield 6 about?
EA sets the story in 2027, as political and economic turmoil weakens NATO and the private military corporation Pax Armata seeks to exploit the resulting power vacuum. The single-player campaign follows Dagger 13, an elite US Marine raider squad, through nine missions, with locations including Brooklyn and Cairo. How does multiplayer work?
The game brings back four familiar class roles—Assault, Recon, Support and Engineer—and introduces movement and gunplay changes EA calls the Kinesthetic Combat System. EA has highlighted dragging and reviving teammates and mounting weapons to reduce recoil. It describes destruction as a way to alter combat spaces and open routes or flanking opportunities; those are design aims rather than independently measured outcomes. EA’s reveal.
Modes and Portal
EA’s launch announcement named Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush and the new Escalation, alongside Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch, Domination and King of the Hill. Portal returns as a toolset for creating custom Battlefield experiences. Because modes and maps can change with updates, this is a launch-era list, not a guarantee of the current live roster. Which platforms is Battlefield 6 on?

What are the Standard and Phantom editions?
EA announced digital Standard and Phantom editions. The Phantom edition bundled cosmetic items and a Battlefield Pro token. Contents and regional offers can change, so confirm the current listing and price in your platform’s store before buying. What has been added, and what is planned for Season 5?
In an October 1, 2026 update, EA said four seasons of content had been added. It also cited returning maps Railway to Golmud and Wake Island, as well as Naval Warfare. EA described Season 5 as the start of Year 2 and previewed planned vehicle, anti-air, gunplay and REDSEC changes. Other Season 5 items previously outlined
EA’s July 30, 2026 community update listed three new Season 5 maps, later reworks of Blackwell Fields and New Sobek City, Platoons, a Server Browser and Multiplayer Leaderboards. It gave no firm release window for Multiplayer Ranked. Although that July update anticipated Season 5 in winter, the later October update did not provide a precise launch date. What did EA report about launch weekend?
