What the challenge requires
The reported objective is to deal 2,000 damage with the Incendiary Airburst Launcher while playing Support. Challenge wording and tiers can change, so confirm the exact requirement in your live assignment screen before you start.
EA’s Game Update 1.1.3.0 notes say: “Fixed an issue where the Incendiary Airburst Launcher did not track progress for the ‘Support Specialist 2’ challenge when dealing damage with its lingering fire cloud.” That official fix is the clearest guidance available for fire-cloud tracking.
How to work through the damage requirement
- Choose Support and equip the Incendiary Airburst Launcher.
- Open the assignment screen and confirm the challenge tier and its current wording.
- Use the launcher to deal damage, then check the assignment counter during play to see whether progress increased.
- If lingering fire-cloud damage is not moving the counter, try landing direct impacts and check the counter again. Direct-impact-only tracking comes from player reports, not an established current rule.
If progress appears stuck
First, confirm that the assignment is active and that you are playing Support with the correct launcher. Then use the counter as your test: deal damage, check for an increase, and switch to direct impacts if fire damage appears not to register. Community reports describe cases in which only initial projectile or direct-impact damage counted; these are individual reports and may predate EA’s fix.

A forum thread had activity as recently as September 2026, so the available evidence does not establish that tracking problems are impossible now. It also does not confirm consistent behavior across platforms or modes. No specific map, mode, bot strategy, damage-per-hit figure, or completion time is established as the fastest method.
