To level a particular weapon or vehicle, use it while earning kills, assists, and other actions with it. EA’s progression guide, updated for Season 2 on April 14, 2026, says verified Portal experiences grant full progression, but it does not establish a universally fastest mode or a safe, fixed-rate bot farm.
Choose the XP track you want to advance
Battlefield 6 has separate progression tracks, so the best route depends on what you are trying to unlock. EA says Battle Pass XP is earned alongside Career XP at a 1:1 ratio; challenges can also award Battle Pass points.

EA lists eliminations and assists as granting Career and Battle Pass XP as well as Weapon XP for the weapon or vehicle used. Revives, squad spawns, enemy spotting, class actions, objective completion, match completion, and challenges also contribute. See EA’s progression overview for the current documented tracks and actions.
A practical route for earning XP
- Check your challenges before queuing. Review Daily and Weekly Challenges and persistent assignments. Select a mode and loadout that let the same actions advance more than one goal. EA specifically recommends combining overlapping daily challenges and assignments.
- Play objectives and stay until the match ends. Objective actions and match completion are documented progression sources. EA says match-completion rewards vary with time played and result, so leaving early can mean missing that completion reward.
- Choose a role that creates useful team actions. Revive and resupply as Support, repair vehicles as Engineer, spot enemies as Recon, and follow squad orders when those actions fit your active goals. These are documented ways to earn progression, not guaranteed highest-rate exploits.
- Use the item you want to level. Weapon and vehicle progress is tied to the item in use. EA says time spent using a weapon or vehicle grants a small passive amount of Weapon XP after Season 2, while kills, assists, and other actions with that item also contribute. The guide characterizes passive progress as smaller than action-based gains.
- Activate earned boosts for a focused session. The Season 2 overview says multiple 15-minute Career and Battle Pass boosts were added among early Career ranks 3–22 and that these double the XP earning rate. Check your inventory and boost type first: a Career boost is not automatically a Weapon XP boost. EA’s October 10, 2025 Initiation challenge guide also describes 15- and 30-minute Career boosts as challenge rewards; check the live menu because challenge details can change.
Use challenges to make one match count toward several goals
Challenge requirements and rewards can change, so treat named examples as guidance rather than a promise that the same assignment is available now. In EA’s October 10, 2025 Initiation guide, a Squadplay assignment included a 15-minute Career boost for deploying on squadmates or completing squad orders, and a later stage awarded 5,000 XP for squad assists or revives. The Teamplay assignment listed a 15-minute Career boost for gadget or vehicle deployments and spotting, a 30-minute Career boost for healing and dragging or reviving, and 5,000 XP for vehicle repairs or resupplies.

Before selecting a mode, compare its objectives with the requirements shown in your current challenge menu. For instance, a match where you can spot enemies, complete squad orders, and earn objective score may advance several goals at once. EA’s guide recommends large team modes for some tasks, but no current source-backed ranking establishes one mode as the fastest overall.
What to know before using Portal as an XP farm
EA’s April 14, 2026 progression overview says verified community experiences grant full progression. It also says custom Portal modes may use a modified completion reward to account for actions that do not generate XP. Choose experiences marked verified and inspect their in-game details; do not assume every custom server or bot lobby awards full XP.

There is history behind the caution. In an October 2025 community update, EA said XP-focused community servers had crowded out active community experiences and that it planned adjustments to reduce XP farms. The update also announced a 10% increase to match-completion XP and a 40% increase to the daily bonus. Those figures describe a historical launch-period adjustment, not a confirmed current formula. The later April 2026 guide supports full progression in verified experiences, but neither source guarantees a particular bot lobby, XP-per-hour rate, or immunity from future eligibility changes. Check the current experience listing and in-game progression details.

- Battle Pass: combine Career XP-earning play with any relevant challenges that award Battle Pass points.
- Portal: verify the experience’s progression eligibility in-game instead of relying on a server’s “XP farm” label.
EA revised REDSEC victory and time-played rewards in its Season 2 changes, so reward details may differ by experience and can change over time. Check the current mode and challenge screens before building a session around a specific reward.
