Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe short version: Intel’s original Battlefield 6 Open Beta freeze affecting Arc A-Series cards was fixed in driver 32.0.101.6989. The situation is different for the Arc B580: Intel still documents crashes at launch, during gameplay, and when changing graphics settings, while driver 32.0.101.8860 WHQL still lists a DX12 crash when changing graphics presets.
Update the driver first, then use a clean reinstall, stock GPU settings, conservative graphics changes, and file repair. Do not assume every Intel Arc card has the same problem—and do not replace your GPU solely because Battlefield 6 crashes.

What is actually affected?
| GPU | Current status | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Arc A-Series, including A380, A580, A750, A770 and laptop models | The original Open Beta freeze while loading into a map was fixed in driver 32.0.101.6989. | Install a current driver. If the game still crashes, investigate other causes. |
| Arc B580 | Intel has a current support article covering crashes at launch, during play and while changing graphics settings. | Perform Intel’s clean-driver procedure, avoid repeated preset changes and test display modes. |
| Other B-Series cards | Do not automatically generalize the B580-specific support article. | Check the model’s current Intel release notes and document the exact trigger. |
| Integrated Intel Arc graphics | Core Ultra systems can follow a different driver and platform path. | Identify the exact processor and use the laptop or system manufacturer’s driver guidance where applicable. |
Intel’s A-Series support notice records the earlier fix. Its separate B580 troubleshooting article recommends a clean driver installation and, where possible, testing integrated graphics.

Current driver status
Driver versions change frequently. Check Intel’s current Arc and Iris Xe Windows driver page immediately before installing anything. Laptop owners should check their manufacturer’s driver first, especially when the laptop uses hybrid graphics, custom power management or display switching.
First identify the failure
These symptoms do not all indicate the same problem:
- Desktop crash: the game closes to Windows.
- Map-loading freeze: the game or entire PC stops responding while entering a map.
- Hard lock: Windows requires a reset or power cycle.
- Driver reset or black screen: the display disappears and may recover.
- Preset-change crash: the failure occurs after switching Low, Medium, High or Ultra.
- Anti-cheat, login or network error: these need EA or account/network troubleshooting, not necessarily a GPU fix.
EA says DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG is generally associated with a graphics-driver crash, but that message alone does not prove an Intel-specific Battlefield 6 defect.

Work through these fixes in order
1. Update Windows and the Intel driver
Install the current driver from Intel. A-Series owners should be at least on 32.0.101.6989 to include the known Open Beta fix. B580 owners should generally follow Intel’s current direction and try the latest driver rather than assuming an old “known good” version is better.
If a laptop manufacturer warns against generic graphics drivers, follow the OEM instructions first. A generic package can affect display switching or other laptop-specific features.
2. Use DDU for a clean reinstall
For the B580 issue, Intel recommends using Display Driver Uninstaller, commonly called DDU:
Rank #2
- Next-Gen Intel Arc Graphics: Powered by Intel Arc A580 GPU with Intel Xe HPG microarchitecture, featuring 384 XMX engines for enhanced AI acceleration and content creation.
- High-Performance Memory: 8GB GDDR6 on a 256-bit interface running at 16 Gbps, delivering excellent bandwidth for 1440p gaming and creative workloads.
- Factory Overclocked: Engine clock set at 2000 MHz out of the box, providing optimized performance for smooth gameplay and multimedia tasks.
- Advanced Dual-Fan Cooling: Features a dual-fan design with striped axial fans and an ultra-fit heatpipe for efficient thermal management. 0dB Silent Cooling stops fans completely at low temperatures for silent operation.
- Durable Construction: Includes a stylish metal backplate for enhanced PCB rigidity and a premium aesthetic, backed by ASRock's Super Alloy components for long-term reliability.
- Download DDU from the source linked by Intel’s support guidance and read its own instructions.
- Create a restore point if you are comfortable doing so.
- Run DDU to remove the existing display-driver software.
- Reboot Windows.
- Install the latest Intel Arc driver.
- Reboot again.
- Test Battlefield 6 before restoring overclocks, tuning profiles or overlays.
DDU is not an Intel product, and it cannot repair a defect in the game or driver. It is more invasive than a normal reinstall, so select only the relevant display-driver packages and keep the utility’s recovery guidance available.
3. Stop changing global graphics presets
Because Intel’s release notes specifically mention a crash when changing DX12 graphics presets, choose one conservative preset, restart the game, and test it. Then change individual settings one at a time, restarting after major changes.
If the crash began immediately after a preset change, close the game and reset its graphics configuration using the appropriate storefront or game-support instructions. Configuration locations can vary, so avoid deleting arbitrary folders or using an unverified hard-coded path.
4. Test display modes
Try Exclusive Fullscreen, Windowed and Borderless separately. Restart the game between tests and note which mode completes the first map load.
Secondary reporting has identified Borderless as a frequent trigger on some Arc systems, but this is a community-reported pattern—not a universal Intel-confirmed diagnosis. Fullscreen can also expose alt-tab, HDR, multi-monitor or overlay problems.
5. Return the system to stock settings
Temporarily remove GPU overclocks, undervolts and Intel tuning profiles. Also disable or close Discord, Steam, Xbox Game Bar, recording tools, third-party monitoring utilities, frame-generation software and other overlays or injectors.
EA’s general guidance includes updating Windows, lowering graphics settings, clean-installing the driver, disabling overclocking, closing background applications, capping the frame rate and enabling V-Sync where appropriate. A frame cap or V-Sync can reduce peak load, but may add latency or lower the maximum frame rate and will not directly fix a preset-transition bug.

6. Repair the game files
In the EA app, open Library, find Battlefield 6, select the Manage icon and choose Repair. EA also provides cache-clearing guidance for some loading and installation problems.
Steam and Epic provide equivalent file-verification options. Verification checks for damaged or missing files; it is not proof that the Intel driver issue has been fixed.
7. Isolate the discrete GPU
If your processor provides integrated graphics, Intel suggests removing or bypassing the discrete card where practical and testing the game on integrated graphics. This is a diagnostic step, not a recommended long-term performance solution.
- If the crash disappears, the discrete GPU, its driver path or its power/stability conditions become more suspect.
- If the crash remains, investigate the game build, settings, Windows, anti-cheat, memory stability and other components.
What not to do
- Do not disable EA Javelin anti-cheat.
- Do not replace game DLLs with unofficial downloads.
- Do not use injectors or unauthorized graphics modifications.
- Do not repeatedly hard-reset a PC that is hard-locking.
- Do not assume a driver rollback is automatically safer; use one only when a specific version change clearly correlates with the failure.
- Do not treat a Battlefield-only crash as proof that the Arc card is defective.
When the normal fixes fail
- DDU changes nothing: repair the game, reset its settings, remove overlays and test another display mode.
- The PC hard-locks: stop repeatedly launching the game. Check Reliability Monitor, Event Viewer, LiveKernelEvent reports, temperatures, power connections, BIOS defaults and memory stability.
- Only preset changes crash: keep one conservative preset and alter individual options gradually.
- Only Borderless crashes: use Exclusive Fullscreen or Windowed mode temporarily.
- Only one map crashes: record the map and report it rather than assuming the GPU is failing.
- Every game crashes: broaden the diagnosis to thermals, the power supply, RAM, motherboard BIOS, Windows or a defective card.
- The problem began after overclocking: restore GPU and system defaults before changing drivers.
How to report a persistent crash
Submit the GPU model, driver version, Windows build, storefront, exact trigger, whether DDU was used, whether the system froze or returned to the desktop, and any error such as DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG. Include DxDiag information, crash dumps and screenshots when requested.
Use EA’s Battlefield 6 support page and error-code guidance. Do not disable anti-cheat or apply unofficial files while trying to produce a workaround.
