Battlefield 6 Open Beta Cheaters: What Secure Boot Could—and Couldn’t—Stop

Players reported apparent wallhack use in Battlefield 6’s 2025 open beta despite Secure Boot. EA’s 330,000 figure counted blocked attempts, not confirmed cheaters.

Yes—players reported apparent wallhack use during the Battlefield 6 open beta, even though EA required Secure Boot for PC play. The reports do not establish that every suspected player was cheating, and EA’s widely cited figure of 330,000 refers to blocked attempts to cheat or tamper with anti-cheat controls—not 330,000 confirmed cheaters.

What happened in the Battlefield 6 open beta?

On August 8, 2025, PC Gamer reported that players had found evidence of apparent wallhack use in the beta. That is evidence of player reports, not forensic confirmation that every person they suspected was cheating.

In the same report, PC Gamer attributed to EA’s anti-cheat team a claim that Javelin had prevented 330,000 attempts to cheat or tamper with anti-cheat controls in roughly the beta’s first 40 hours. The figure counts attempts, not distinct people, successful cheats, or confirmed offenders. It also does not establish the share of players who cheated.

Why didn’t Secure Boot prevent every suspected cheat?

EA announced on August 4, 2025 that Secure Boot was required to play Battlefield 6 on PC. EA said the feature could help counter cheats that infiltrate during Windows startup and support detection of kernel-level cheats and rootkits, memory manipulation and injection, spoofing and hardware ID manipulation, virtual machines and emulation, and anti-cheat tampering. Those are EA’s stated security rationale; the requirement is not a guarantee that every cheat or suspicious player will be prevented or detected.

  • High Security: The TPM is an independent cryptographic processor connected to a daughter board which connected to the motherboard. The TPM securely stores encryption keys that can be created using encryption software. Without this key, the content on the user's PC remains encrypted and protected from unauthorized access.
  • Other Utility: For z590, h570, q570, b560, h510 series, Z490, h470, q470, b460, h410 series, Z390, z370, h370, q370, b365, b360, h310 series, series x299, W480 series, C621, C422, C246 series, etc.
  • Wide Matching: Supports for 7 64 bit, for 8.1 32 and 64 bit, for 10 64 bit, very practical and reliable.
  • The Using Tip: The performance is based on the maximum theoretical interface value for each chipset vendor or organization that defines the interface specification. Actual performance may vary depending on system configuration. The standard PC architecture reserves a certain amount of memory for system use, so the actual memory size will be less than the specified amount.
  • Easy to Install: Comes with a light weight and a compact size as well, the convenient installation can be quickly completed.

Secure Boot is one part of a layered anti-cheat approach, not a promise that cheating becomes impossible. Javelin detections and enforcement are separate parts of that system, and suspected behavior still has to be assessed. As EA’s anti-cheat team put it in the statement quoted by PC Gamer: “Anti-Cheat isn’t one and done, it’s an ever evolving battlefield, and what has worked for us previously or in different games doesn’t always work in all of them,”

What does EA count as cheating, and what can lead to a ban?

EA’s Battlefield 6 rules say Javelin anti-cheat is required on PC. The rules identify aimbots, wallhacks, disconnection tools, exploits, stat padding, and ranking manipulation as violations. EA also says it needs clear evidence to ban a player, which is one reason a player’s suspicion is not the same as a confirmed enforcement action.

Is the 330,000 figure Battlefield 6’s current cheating rate?

No. It was EA’s reported count of blocked attempts during roughly the first 40 hours of the 2025 open beta. It is neither a current rate nor a player-level prevalence statistic, and the count alone cannot tell readers how many people cheated or how many suspected players were correctly identified.

Later policy context should not be confused with beta-era conditions. In an August 28, 2026 Season 4 anti-cheat update, EA described Match Infection Rate as a predictive metric that incorporates player reports and other signals, rather than a simple count of confirmed bans. EA also discussed plans for strict TPM requirement enforcement and said it had not decided how to enforce HVCI and VBS. These later statements do not revise what the 2025 beta figures mean.

What should players take away?

  • EA required Secure Boot for Battlefield 6 on PC in its August 4, 2025 notice; that requirement was a security layer, not a guarantee against all cheating.
  • Apparent wallhack sightings were reported during the beta, but the reports do not confirm every suspected player was cheating.
  • EA’s 330,000 figure referred to blocked attempts to cheat or tamper with controls, not 330,000 confirmed cheaters.
  • EA’s rules require Javelin on PC, prohibit wallhacks and aimbots, and say clear evidence is needed for a ban.
