That was a striking snapshot of pre-launch chatter—not an official EA count, a measure of concurrent players, or proof that the game’s servers were overloaded.
What the nearly 50,000 figure actually meant
On August 6, 2025, GamesRadar reported a queue above 50,000 and pointed to a Reddit post showing a position of 48,100. The figure describes one reported place in line; the available reporting does not establish how many people were actually waiting, how long they waited, or what the queue system was measuring. GamesRadar’s report attributed the number to that player post, not to EA.
GamesRadar writer Dustin Bailey also said he entered the preloaded beta without queue time: “I hopped into the pre-loaded beta just a few minutes ago without any queue time.” That was an individual observation, not a controlled test or a guarantee that other players had the same experience.
The Reddit thread included conflicting accounts. Some commenters described seeing settings or a pre-launch menu, while others said they did not encounter a queue. Those posts show that players were discussing a queue, but they do not settle what it represented technically. A position of 48,100 cannot on its own be treated as a count of unique users, concurrent players, failed logins, or server capacity.

When the beta opened—and who could join
EA’s July 31, 2025 schedule set Early Access to begin August 7 at 08:00 UTC (1:00 a.m. PT). Preloading had begun August 4 at 15:00 UTC. Early Access had limited entry routes; the later public weekends were open to anyone without a code. EA’s schedule listed the dates and access rules.

EA Help also documented code redemption for creator, giveaway, and Twitch Drop codes, including linking a platform account to an EA Account. That process applied to code-based access routes; it did not change EA’s statement that the public beta weekends needed no code. EA Help’s beta instructions cover code redemption.

Platforms and PC requirement
The beta was available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the EA app. EA required Secure Boot to play the PC beta. The Secure Boot condition was a PC requirement, not a requirement for console players.
Why the queue did not prove server overload
EA’s published schedule explains when Early Access and public access began, but it does not explain the mechanics behind the reported queue. The user post and mixed Reddit comments do not fill that gap. Without a verified explanation of the system or a confirmed count from EA, the reported position is best understood as evidence that at least one player saw a long line before access opened—not as a diagnosis of server performance.

The timing matters: the report came on August 6, before Early Access started on August 7. The public beta periods followed on August 9–10 and August 14–17 (the schedule’s exact UTC closing times were August 11 and August 18, respectively). The queue story was therefore about the lead-up to a scheduled access window, not a contemporaneous measurement of the full public beta.

Battlefield 6 launched on October 10, 2025. EA later announced that the game sold more than 7 million copies in its first three days; that launch figure gives a separate measure of the game’s initial commercial scale, but it does not verify what the beta queue counted. EA’s launch announcement reported the sales milestone.

For readers asking “When does it start?” or “What’s this queue for?”, the dates answer the first question: the early-access period began August 7, 2025, followed by public weekends later that month. The second remains less certain: the nearly 50,000 figure was a player-reported queue position, and the sources do not establish what the line measured internally.
