The beta ran in August 2025 and has ended; the schedules and requirements below are historical.
Which maps were in the Battlefield 6 open beta?
EA’s August 4, 2025 beta guide listed three maps for the first weekend. The second weekend kept those maps and added Empire State.
Siege of Cairo
Set in central Cairo, this urban map paired infantry combat with tanks among streets, alleys, and buildings.
Liberation Peak
This mountainous map in Tajikistan offered terrain for aircraft, infantry, and tanks.

EA noted that a map could have different “Combat Zones” depending on the mode: hand-crafted configurations that changed object placement, destruction, scale, intensity, and tactical options. So playing different modes in the same broader area did not necessarily mean playing the same layout. EA’s beta guide describes the maps and Combat Zones.
Which modes were available each weekend?
| Weekend | Maps | Modes |
|---|---|---|
| Weekend 1 | Siege of Cairo, Liberation Peak, Iberian Offensive | Conquest, Closed Weapons Breakthrough, Breakthrough, Domination, King of the Hill |
| Weekend 2 | All three Weekend 1 maps, plus Empire State | Weekend 1 modes, plus Rush and Squad Deathmatch |
Conquest and Breakthrough
Conquest centered on fighting over multiple objectives. In Breakthrough, attackers advanced through successive sectors while defenders tried to stop them. Closed Weapons Breakthrough was listed separately; its weapons were locked by class.

How did the beta weekends differ?
The clearest change was the second weekend’s expansion: one additional map, designed for infantry only, and two added modes. The first weekend’s three maps mixed urban, mountainous, and Gibraltar street settings, with modes spanning objective capture and sector-based attack and defense. Weekend 2 added Rush’s M-COM objectives and Squad Deathmatch’s four-squad elimination race.
EA described the beta as using smaller, faster-paced maps, while saying larger-scale maps were part of the planned launch package. In its August 21, 2025 debrief, EA also discussed planned responses to beta feedback on recoil, movement, parachute physics, map boundaries, and mode balance. These were post-beta statements and plans at that time, not a definitive description of the game’s current live behavior. EA’s August 21 debrief gives that context.

When could players preload and play?
EA announced the beta on July 31, 2025. Preload was scheduled to begin August 4 at 15:00 UTC. Early access began August 7 at 08:00 UTC; EA said it was available to eligible Battlefield Labs participants or through the creator-stream route described in its announcement. The public weekends were August 9 at 08:00 UTC to August 11 at 08:00 UTC, and August 14 at 08:00 UTC to August 18 at 08:00 UTC. EA said no code was needed to join either public weekend. These dates have passed. EA’s July 31 announcement contains the schedule and access details.
Platforms and beta requirement
The beta supported PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam, Epic Games Store, or the EA app. Players needed to link their EA Account to their platform account. For PC, EA required Secure Boot for the beta; that historical beta requirement should not be treated as a current full-game system requirement.
What did EA report after the beta?
EA’s August 21, 2025 debrief infographic reported 420 million matches, 92 million hours played, 4.9 billion enemies killed, and 30.9 million revives. These are publisher-reported beta figures, not independent measurements. EA’s open beta debrief also discussed its planned balancing and design responses.
How did the beta relate to the full game?
The beta was a temporary preview, not the complete launch map or mode lineup. EA’s July 31, 2025 press release said Battlefield 6 would launch on October 10, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam, the EA app, and Epic Games Store. The launch modes EA listed included Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush, Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch, Domination, King of the Hill, and Escalation. That announcement establishes the planned launch lineup at the time; it does not by itself confirm the current live-game lineup. EA’s July 31, 2025 press release has the launch details.
