The Battlefield 6 Open Beta ran across two public weekends in August 2025. Weekend 1 featured Siege of Cairo, Liberation Peak and Iberian Offensive; Weekend 2 brought those maps back and added Empire State. Rush and Squad Deathmatch joined the mode lineup in Weekend 2, while the official beta guides confirmed Open and Closed Weapons playlists but did not publish a complete named weapon roster.
When and where was the Battlefield 6 beta?
The public Open Beta weekends took place August 9–10 and August 14–17, 2025, following early access that began August 7. EA’s detailed schedule listed the Weekend 1 close as August 11 at 08:00 UTC and Weekend 2’s close as August 18 at 08:00 UTC. The test was available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store and the EA app. EA’s Open Beta guide and its platform announcement provide the schedule and availability details.

What maps were in the Battlefield 6 beta?
| Weekend | Maps | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Weekend 1 | Siege of Cairo; Liberation Peak; Iberian Offensive | Three settings: central Cairo, mountainous Tajikistan and the streets and alleys of Gibraltar. |
| Weekend 2 | Siege of Cairo; Liberation Peak; Iberian Offensive; Empire State | Weekend 1’s maps returned, and Empire State was added. It was an infantry-only map set among Brooklyn alleys and rooftops. |
These are the map locations EA listed for the beta, not necessarily one identical layout per location. EA used mode-specific “Combat Zones”—hand-crafted configurations within a map—so objective placement and the use of destruction could vary between modes. See EA’s beta map and mode guide for the descriptions.
What modes were in the BF6 open beta?
EA’s August 4 guide listed five Weekend 1 modes. Weekend 2 added Rush and Squad Deathmatch. The second weekend did not offer one fixed lineup for all four days: EA’s August 13 playlist update described day-by-day rotation and separate Open and Closed Weapons playlists.

| Conquest; Closed Weapons Breakthrough; Breakthrough; Domination; King of the Hill | Rush; Squad Deathmatch |
Mode availability and playlist configuration should not be conflated: EA’s Weekend 2 update named Conquest, Rush, Breakthrough, Domination, King of the Hill and Squad Deathmatch across the rotating playlists. Closed Weapons All-Out Warfare offered Conquest and Breakthrough, while Open Weapon playlists gained Custom Search. EA said Custom Search was not a Server Browser. The specifics are in the beta guide and August 13 playlist update.
How the modes played
- Conquest: Teams fight to control objectives.
- Breakthrough: Attackers advance through sequential sectors while defenders hold them.
- Rush: Attackers try to plant explosives on M-COM systems; defenders try to stop them.
- Domination and King of the Hill: Teams compete over capture points.
- Squad Deathmatch: Four squads fight to reach a kill target.
What weapons were confirmed for the Battlefield 6 beta?
EA confirmed that players could choose between Open Weapons and Closed Weapons playlists. Those labels described different weapon rules; they do not amount to a published inventory of every gun available. The official beta guide and playlist update do not provide a complete individual weapon roster, so there is no source-backed full list of confirmed beta weapons to reproduce here.

EA’s August 21 post-beta debrief names the M87A1 shotgun in connection with a planned pellet-count adjustment. That limited mention confirms the weapon was part of EA’s post-beta discussion, but it is not a complete roster. The debrief also said both Open and Closed Weapons would remain options. Read the beta guide, playlist update and post-beta debrief for those distinctions.

In its August 21, 2025 debrief, EA described planned post-beta work—not additional content from the beta itself. The Battlefield Team said it was working on adjustments to prevent unintended access and keep gameplay within intended boundaries. EA also outlined several balance and launch-planning points:

- A broad pass on weapon recoil and tap-fire behavior.
- Stronger differentiation in weapon performance at range.
- An M87A1 shotgun pellet-count adjustment.
- Lower default player count for Rush to support its intended tactical flow.
- Breakthrough layouts planned for either 48 or 64 players, depending on the map; EA also said the mode could support up to 64.
EA characterized the beta maps as smaller and faster, while larger maps were part of the launch package. Player counts therefore need to be read by mode and layout rather than treated as a universal match size. The details and the Battlefield Team’s statement appear in EA’s August 21 debrief.
What EA reported about the beta
EA’s Battlefield Team reported these totals in its 2025 debrief infographic: 420 million matches, 92 million hours played, 4.9 billion enemies killed and 30.9 million revives. In the text of the same post, EA separately reported over 600,000 hours streamed and over 30 million hours watched. These are EA’s reported figures; streamed and watched hours are separate measures from the infographic’s hours-played total. EA’s debrief includes the figures and context.
