What changed in Battlefield 6 Open Beta Weekend 2?
Weekend 2 retained the first weekend’s maps and added Empire State, an infantry-only map set in Brooklyn, New York. It also introduced Rush and Squad Deathmatch. EA’s August 4 overview described Rush as an attack-and-defend mode where attackers plant explosives on M-COM communication systems and defenders try to stop them; Squad Deathmatch pitted four squads against one another to reach a kill target first. EA’s Open Beta overview.
Weekend 2 challenges and rewards
- Capture 42 flags in Conquest, Domination, or King of the Hill to earn the War Machine Vehicle Skin.
- Get 200 kills or assists to earn the Bat Company Dog Tag.
- Capture 10 sectors in Breakthrough or Rush to earn the Dominion Weapon Package.
What playlists were available in Weekend 2?
EA announced the playlist changes on August 13 as a response to Weekend 1 feedback and an experiment in offering more variety and choice. All-Out Warfare rotated among Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush. EA said that rotating modes within playlists would help it understand player preferences while keeping more popular modes available at once. The beta lineup changed by day, so a mode shown on one date was not necessarily available on every date. EA’s Weekend 2 playlist announcement.

How to interpret the playlist names
- Weapon rules: Open Weapons and Closed Weapons distinguished playlist variants. The listed Closed Weapons All-Out Warfare option contained Conquest and Breakthrough.
- Match pace: Close Quarters grouped smaller-scale modes, while All-Out Warfare offered Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush.
- Objective format: The schedule included Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush, and smaller-mode choices such as Domination, King of the Hill, and Squad Deathmatch.
Daily rotation was specific to the Open Beta while EA gathered feedback; the company explicitly said it was not planned for launch. Its August 21 debrief later characterized the limited playlist options as a test of matchmaking flexibility. The beta schedule should not be read as the game’s current playlist lineup.
What was Custom Search?
Custom Search let players prioritize preferred map-and-mode combinations in matchmaking. EA’s example was seeking Conquest on Siege of Cairo when available. It was not a server browser, and a preference did not guarantee an immediate match on that combination. During the beta, Custom Search was available for Open Weapon mode playlists. What did EA report after the Open Beta?
In its August 21, 2025 debrief, Electronic Arts reported 420 million matches, 92 million hours played, 4.9 billion enemies killed, and 30.9 million revives across the beta. The infographic rounded the first two figures. EA also reported more than 600,000 hours streamed and more than 30 million hours watched. These are publisher-reported figures, not independently verified measurements. EA’s Open Beta debrief.
The same debrief described development directions informed by player feedback and in-game data, including weapon recoil and tap-fire tuning, movement adjustments, and map-boundary fixes. EA said at the time that it planned to lower Rush’s default player count to support its tactical flow, while Breakthrough layouts would vary between 48 and 64 players. Those were statements in an August 2025 development update, not confirmation of the game’s configuration in October 2026.
