In TechRadar’s October 2025 review, the online battles were the standout, while the single-player campaign was criticized as generic and forgettable. That makes it a compelling pick for players who want Battlefield’s large-scale multiplayer—but a less convincing purchase if the campaign is your main reason to play.
Is Battlefield 6 worth playing?
It depends on which part of the package you value. Battlefield 6 includes multiplayer, a single-player campaign, and Portal creation tools. The strongest independent review evidence available here favors the multiplayer; it does not support treating the game as an across-the-board triumph or claiming broad critical consensus.
TechRadar published its review on October 13, 2025. The reviewer assessed the PS5 version after almost 20 hours on PS5 and about five hours on PC during preview sessions. They found the multiplayer markedly stronger than the campaign, praising its moment-to-moment play while describing the story as generic and less memorable. Those are that reviewer’s findings, not results from our own gameplay testing. Read TechRadar’s Battlefield 6 review.
Is the multiplayer better than the campaign?
Multiplayer is the main draw
For players looking for online battles, Battlefield 6 is the more persuasive part of the package. EA’s launch announcement described a selection of multiplayer modes, and its pre-launch multiplayer announcement discussed new and returning modes. EA also said it intended to add modes, maps, weapons, and other features after launch; that was a plan, not a complete or current content roadmap.

EA said in its October 10, 2025 launch announcement: “All gameplay-impacting features will be free or earnable as part of our commitment to fair play and access for all players.” This is EA’s stated commitment, not an independent assessment of how the game’s monetization works in practice. See EA’s launch announcement.
The campaign is a weaker reason to buy
The campaign is included, but TechRadar’s reviewer found its story generic and less memorable than the multiplayer. If you primarily want a strong single-player story, that review gives reason to temper expectations. It does not establish the campaign’s length or provide a basis for comparing its technical performance across platforms.

- Choose for the experience you want. The evidence cited here points more strongly to multiplayer than to the campaign.
- Confirm your platform and edition. EA’s buy page is the appropriate place to check current options before purchasing.
- Don’t rely on an expired trial offer. EA search results described a free-trial window from August 18 to 25, 2026. Those dates have passed, so they are not a current offer.
A headset with a microphone is an optional consideration if you regularly coordinate with squadmates, but the available review evidence does not establish that you need one or favor a particular model.

Verdict
Battlefield 6 is easiest to recommend to players who chiefly want multiplayer. The campaign is part of the package, but the available review evidence suggests it is the weaker attraction. “Best Battlefield game in years” is best understood as a favorable assessment of the multiplayer in one review—not a verified consensus or an objective ranking of the series.
