Battlefield 6 has an 83/100 Metascore from 71 critic reviews on Metacritic’s currently observed page, labeled “Generally Favorable.” Its separate user score is 6.8/10, labeled “Mixed or Average.” These figures are snapshots and can change as reviews and ratings are added. Critics generally praise the multiplayer more than the campaign, so the aggregate alone does not tell you which part of the game is likely to suit you.
What is the Battlefield 6 Metacritic score?
Metacritic currently lists an 83 Metascore from 71 critic reviews, with the label “Generally Favorable.” The same page lists a distinct user score of 6.8/10, labeled “Mixed or Average.” Critic and user scores represent different groups of reviewers and should not be treated as interchangeable. The user-rating count is not included here because it has varied between page snapshots.
These are live aggregate figures, not permanent ratings. Check the page directly if you need the latest score or review count.
Why did launch coverage report an 84?
The widely repeated 84/100 figure refers to launch-period snapshots from October 9, 2025, rather than the current Metacritic total. Windows Central’s roundup, published that day, reported 84/100 based on 44 evaluations across Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and PS5. Pure Xbox also reported an 84 on Metacritic on October 9. Different dates and review counts can produce different aggregate scores; the figures are not contradictory if their timing is made clear.

What did critics like and criticize?
Multiplayer is the clearest strength
The launch reviews summarized by Metacritic, Windows Central, and Pure Xbox most often praised the multiplayer: its gunplay, maps and modes, vehicle and infantry combat, and environmental destruction. The positive reception often framed these elements as a return to familiar Battlefield strengths. PCMag’s excerpt on Metacritic describes “chaotic and dynamic multiplayer gunplay” as a draw for new and returning fans.
The campaign drew more reservations
Campaign criticism focused on a weaker story or characters, a short or uneven single-player experience, and a campaign that did not match the breadth or appeal of multiplayer. That is a pattern across the cited launch coverage, not a consensus shared by every reviewer: Windows Central also quoted GamingTrend praising the experience “from every step in the campaign to every battle in multiplayer.”

Individual scores show real disagreement
The excerpts visible on Metacritic include XGN at 88, Gamers Heroes at 85, PCMag and Screen Rant at 80, and Slant Magazine at 40. That 40 is a notable dissenting verdict, not a representative summary of the full review pool. The range is a reminder that critics can weigh the campaign, multiplayer, and the overall package differently.
Why platform and review timing matter
Battlefield 6 released on October 10, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The launch-period 44-evaluation snapshot was explicitly drawn from those platform groups, but an aggregate is still not a platform-by-platform comparison. When reading a review, check which version it covers, when it was published, and whether the reviewer assessed the whole game or only part of it.

Multiplayer coverage can also depend on access to public matches. Before publishing its own verdict, Pure Xbox said it wanted to assess the game in public lobbies. That is useful context for launch-day reviews that might have been provisional or focused on a narrower portion of the experience.
- Date and count: distinguish a launch-day aggregate from a later score and note how many reviews it includes.
- Critics or users: compare like with like; Metacritic’s critic score and user score are separate measures.
- Platform: identify whether the review covers PC, PS5, or Xbox Series X|S.
- Scope: check whether the reviewer evaluated the complete game, campaign, or multiplayer under the conditions available at the time.
- What matters to you: weigh campaign criticism separately from multiplayer praise rather than assuming one score captures both equally.
Is Battlefield 6 worth buying?
The review pattern points most strongly toward Battlefield 6 for players interested in its multiplayer combat, maps, modes, vehicles, and destruction. If you primarily want a strong single-player campaign, the recurring story, character, and length reservations are more relevant than the overall Metascore. Read a platform-specific review that matches your priorities before deciding; the aggregate is a useful starting point, not a substitute for that comparison.
