Marathon launched worldwide on March 5, 2026, at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. Bungie set one simultaneous launch instant rather than staggered regional releases, so the local calendar date and clock time depended on your time zone. The launch date has passed.
Marathon’s global launch time
Bungie announced on March 4, 2026, that Marathon would go live worldwide at 10 a.m. PT on March 5. Because the release was simultaneous, players in different regions reached that instant at different local times—and some regions were already on March 6.

Bungie’s launch article included a graphic for finding the release time by region, but its accompanying text does not enumerate all the local times. The confirmed point of reference is 10 a.m. Pacific Time on March 5; avoid treating an unsourced conversion as an official regional schedule.
Platforms and launch access
At launch, Marathon was available on Steam for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Bungie said the game supported full cross-play and cross-save. Its launch information also said console players needed an active online subscription to play.

Preload and the Server Slam build
Bungie said preloading was available on all platforms before launch. Players who took part in the Server Slam needed to download the separate launch build; the Server Slam download was not the launch version. These were launch-preparation details, not current download instructions.

In a September 14, 2026 development update, Bungie said the October 6 update would reset progression and the in-game economy, add a new Rewards Pass, and include quality-of-life improvements and live tuning. It also described Symbiosis, then planned for December 8, as bringing the first permanent PvE experience, a refreshed Perimeter, a social space with a firing range, a new Runner shell, and an experimental PvP Team Deathmatch mode. Those dates and features were plans announced in that update, not confirmation here that the changes were delivered as described.
