Battlefield 6’s Game Update 1.1.1.5 patch notes say EA fixed the exploit that let players use an XFGM-6D Recon Drone and Sledgehammer to gain height and reach areas meant to be inaccessible. The notes document EA’s fix, but do not independently verify current gameplay or rule out other exploits.
What the Battlefield 6 drone exploit did
According to EA’s Game Update 1.1.1.5 notes, players could stand on an XFGM-6D Recon Drone and hit it with the Sledgehammer to gain height and reach areas intended to be inaccessible. The exploit hinged on that interaction between the gadget and melee weapon.
Which update fixed it, and when did it arrive?
EA listed the fix in Game Update 1.1.1.5. Its French-language announcement was dated November 7, 2025, and scheduled the update for November 11 at 10:00 UTC+1. The notes describe the exploit as fixed; they do not provide a separate test result or estimate how often players used it.
Does this mean the Recon Drone or Sledgehammer was removed?
No. The patch note describes a fix to the exploit, not the removal of either the XFGM-6D Recon Drone or the Sledgehammer from Battlefield 6.

What later patch notes say about the Recon Drone
EA’s later Game Update 1.2.2.0 notes list other Recon Drone-related corrections: enemies not being pinged correctly while operating the drone, and a highlighting issue involving the M4A1 SLAM and Recon Drone. Those are separate issues; the notes do not identify them as the Sledgehammer ascent exploit.
What the patch notes do—and do not—confirm
The official notes are the basis for saying EA fixed this specific interaction. They do not establish that the fix has been independently reproduced, that every related exploit is impossible, or that no similar exploit has appeared since. The separate drone fixes in the later notes do not, by themselves, show that the Sledgehammer exploit returned.
