Battlefield Team announced 90+ adjustments in 2025, with the stated aim of shortening the grind while keeping progression tied to skill. The examples below describe that initial rollout; later official updates cited here do not confirm that every threshold remains the same in the live game.
What changed in the 2025 challenge overhaul?
Battlefield Team described the changes as an initial batch, delivered through a server-side update. The announcement said the aim was to reduce time investment without removing skill-driven progression, and to make assignment expectations fit reasonable play sessions. Some assignments, particularly those tied to cosmetics, could still be mastery goals.
The team reported more than 90 adjustments. These examples from its announcement show how the requirements changed:

What happened to progress players had already earned?
Battlefield Team said existing progress would count toward the revised requirements when players entered a match. In practical terms, the announcement did not describe a separate manual claim step: its stated trigger was entering a match after the server-side changes went live.
Why might a weapon or gadget still show as locked?
Some players responded with “Still Locked!” and asked why weapons or gadgets remained locked after they believed they had met revised requirements. Those comments document individual reactions, not proof of a universal unlock bug or a current, widespread issue. The announcement’s progress-conversion note is the clearest official guidance in the cited material: enter a match so existing progress can be applied, then check whether the requirement and unlock status have updated.

Are these requirements still current?
Not every listed threshold can be confirmed as current from the later official updates cited here. EA’s September 28, 2026 Game Update 1.4.3.5 was described as a smaller quality-of-life patch focused on areas such as menus, HUD, stability, maps, modes, and AI; it does not restate these challenge targets. EA’s October 1, 2026 Season 5 and beyond look-ahead discusses ongoing work and faster progression across the game’s first year, but likewise does not verify each 2025 threshold.
