Battlefield 6 was free to try for one week on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S from August 18 to 25, 2026. The promotion has ended. EA described it as a temporary trial, not a permanent change to the full game’s price.
When was Battlefield 6 free to play?
EA’s Season 4 trial ran from August 18 through August 25, 2026. The dates are listed on EA’s Battlefield 6 offers and disclaimers page and in the August 14, 2026 game update. The weeklong offer is no longer available.
What did the trial include?
EA said players could try six modes across four maps: Tsuru Reef, Wake Island, Cairo Bazaar, and Hagental Base. The August update highlighted Top Gun: Carrier Strike and Wake Island’s return. EA’s Season 4 roadmap, published July 17, 2026, provides context for the seasonal content, but the trial announcement does not establish that every mode or map in the full game was available.
What did players need to access the free week?
During the promotion, players needed Battlefield REDSEC and all required game updates. EA’s terms also required an internet connection and an EA account, and limited the trial to one play per EA account. The offer applied to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

No. EA said players had to purchase the full game to continue playing after the trial ended. The free week was temporary access, not a permanent free-to-play release of Battlefield 6. REDSEC was a prerequisite for the trial; EA’s stated requirement for continued Battlefield 6 access was purchase of the full game.
