Battlefield 6 did not reach just three times Battlefield 2042’s peak on launch day. SteamDB recorded 747,440 concurrent Steam players for Battlefield 6 on October 10, 2025, compared with Battlefield 2042’s Steam peak of 107,006—about 6.98 times as many.
What were the two Steam peak counts?
| Game | Steam all-time peak | When recorded | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Battlefield 6 | 747,440 concurrent players | October 10, 2025, its launch day | SteamDB |
| Battlefield 2042 | 107,006 concurrent players | November 2021 | SteamCharts |
Dividing 747,440 by 107,006 gives approximately 6.98. That makes Battlefield 6’s recorded Steam peak about seven times Battlefield 2042’s—not three times.

What does “player count” mean here?
These figures count people playing simultaneously on Steam at a peak moment. They do not count unique players across an entire day, copies sold, or everyone playing across platforms. EA lists Battlefield 6 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, but the cited records do not provide matched all-platform peak counts for both games. The seven-to-one comparison is therefore Steam-only.
Where did the “three times” comparison come from?
The three-times framing appeared in August 2025 coverage of Battlefield 6’s open beta, which compared an early beta Steam figure of just over 300,000 with Battlefield 2042’s roughly 107,000 Steam peak. That was a beta comparison, not a launch-day result. Dexerto’s August 7 report covered that earlier context.

What did EA report about Battlefield 6’s launch?
In its October 24, 2025 launch announcement, EA said Battlefield 6 sold more than 7 million copies in its first three days, recorded more than 172 million online matches, and generated more than 15 million hours watched during its three-day launch weekend. EA also said the game earned “the most concurrent players for Battlefield ever,” but did not provide a numeric concurrent-player total or define the measurement scope in that announcement. These publisher-reported figures describe different measures and should not be substituted for the Steam peak comparison.
EA’s announcement also confirms an October 10, 2025 launch and availability on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC storefronts. Read EA’s launch results announcement.
