EA announced that Battlefield Labs play sessions would resume after the Battlefield 6 Open Beta as a pre-launch effort to refine the game with player feedback. Labs is a closed, private test environment: participants may encounter work-in-progress features, alpha-stage content and builds that are less polished or stable than a released game.
What Battlefield Labs was testing after the Open Beta
EA framed the resumed sessions as a way to validate launch balance and features, with tests taking place at potentially varied intervals. The announcement named several areas for feedback and testing.
- Server Browser and Portal: An early Server Browser implementation in the Community tab was intended to help EA assess accessibility, interface clarity, stability and usability. The test was limited: building custom Portal Community Experiences was not available.
- Finding and hosting servers: Participants could use a provided shortcode to find a verified Conquest experience, browse a filtered list of active servers, or host a server with editable descriptions, rotations and tags. They could also browse current servers and try tag filters. These were details of the planned test, not a guarantee of the final feature set.
- Gameplay balance: EA said beta feedback pointed to the need to balance gameplay across environments of different sizes. Planned areas included weapons, large-scale vehicle combat, gadgets and future optimizations.
- Maps and combined arms: Operation Firestorm and Mirak Valley were named for testing combined-arms balance, with vehicles ranging from quad bikes to tanks and aircraft.
- Hardcore: EA planned to use Labs and player input to determine the official settings for Hardcore mode.
EA’s Battlefield Labs update describes the planned test scope; it should not be read as confirmation that every proposed feature or setting shipped unchanged.

EA’s Open Beta announcement, published July 31, 2025, scheduled early access to begin August 7, followed by public weekends on August 9–10 and August 14–17. EA’s detailed schedule says the second weekend closed August 18 at 08:00 UTC. The Labs resumption announcement refers to Battlefield 6’s planned October 10 launch, placing it in the pre-launch period. Its page text does not show an exact publication date, so the announcement is best understood as historical context—not a current testing calendar.
