It is no longer an upcoming game: Dotemu released it on Steam on May 11, 2026. Developed by Alt Shift in collaboration with Universal Products & Experiences, it is a single-player fleet-management roguelite built around desperate decisions and real-time space battles.
What was announced—and what has changed
The original announcement introduced a PC game set during the destruction of the Twelve Colonies. The player leads a fleet fleeing the Cylons and tries to survive long enough to rejoin the Battlestar Galactica. Dotemu is the publisher, Alt Shift is the developer, and Universal Products & Experiences collaborated on the project. Universal Products & Experiences announced the game in August 2025; the Steam listing gives May 11, 2026, as its release date.
The announcement’s anticipated 2026 release window has therefore been superseded by the final date. The game is listed for PC on Steam.
How the game plays
Steam describes Scattered Hopes as a “survival fleet-management roguelite with procedural narrative design and real-time space battles.” Its loop alternates between preparing the fleet and surviving combat. Fleet phases give you limited time to respond to crises, while expeditions and upgrades can help prepare the ships and crew for what comes next. The developer emphasizes replayability, asymmetrical tactical combat, and hard choices as its core design pillars. Steam’s feature description and Alt Shift’s announcements outline those systems.

Manage a fleet under pressure
During fleet-management phases, you can send expeditions to seek resources, assign supplies and personnel to urgent problems, upgrade ships, and train crew. Time is limited, so the challenge is not simply to accumulate resources: it is deciding which needs to address before the next threat.
Fight to survive and escape
Combat centers on leading fighters in dangerous encounters and staying alive long enough for the fleet to jump away. The release announcement describes real-time combat with tactical pause, giving players an opportunity to pause and consider their moves during a fight. Make choices across repeated runs
Procedural content and consequential decisions change the course of runs, while roguelite progression gives repeated attempts their structure. The aim is to balance immediate survival against the longer effort to keep the fleet intact and reach the Battlestar Galactica.
PC requirements and language support
The Steam listing names Windows 10 and a 64-bit processor and operating system. Its listed requirements are:

These are the requirements shown on the Steam product page; storefront specifications can change, so check the live listing before installing or upgrading hardware. Steam lists interface and subtitle support in English, French, German, Spanish (Spain), Japanese, Russian, and Ukrainian. English is the only full-audio language listed.
Demo and other Steam content
Alt Shift announced a demo before launch and linked it through Steam Next Fest. That was a historical demo announcement, not confirmation that the demo remains available now. Check the current Steam page for its present status. Steam also lists digital soundtrack and artbook content; the reviewed listing documents digital add-ons, not a physical edition. Steam’s product page has the current store information, and Dotemu’s press kit provides official game materials.

What the player figures do—and do not—mean
Universal Products & Experiences cited more than 1 million players for Crying Suns, Alt Shift’s earlier game. That figure is about Crying Suns, not sales or players for Scattered Hopes. The announcement identifies the earlier title in that context.
Steam user reviews are a separate, changing signal. When checked for this article, the listing showed 1,052 all-time reviews with 76% positive and 27 recent reviews from the last 30 days with 59% positive. Those are storefront snapshots, not a representative survey or a fixed measure of quality; Steam’s live listing may show different totals and percentages over time.
