bdvid32.dll is an application file, not a Windows system DLL. Public file metadata describes bdvid32.dll as a 32-bit Bandisoft BandiVideo library that older games and applications may install beside their own executable.
The safest fix is to identify the program that reports the error and repair or reinstall that complete program from its original installer, official launcher, or legitimate game platform. Do not download a random copy into C:WindowsSystem32.

Fix 1: Repair or reinstall the program that owns bdvid32.dll
Time needed: 10–30 minutes
A missing bdvid32.dll usually means the parent application was incompletely installed, updated incorrectly, cleaned by antivirus software, or had part of its folder deleted.
Start by identifying the affected program:
- Read the full error window and note which game or application was being launched.
- Right-click the shortcut and select Properties.
- On the Shortcut tab, check the Target field. The executable name and folder usually identify the owning program.
- Open that installation folder and look for the program’s main
.exefile. - Do not copy a replacement DLL into a Windows system directory.
For a supported Windows application:
- Select Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Find the affected application.
- Select the three-dot menu beside it.
- Choose Advanced options.
- Select Repair.
- Start the application again.
If Repair is unavailable or does not help, return to the same screen and use Reset only if you are comfortable losing the program’s local settings or stored data. Some desktop programs instead provide repair controls through Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features. Select the program, choose Repair or Change, and follow the installer.

For an older standalone game or desktop application, uninstall it through its own uninstaller or Windows settings, restart Windows, and reinstall it from the original installer or trusted installation media. Install the complete package into its normal folder rather than copying only bdvid32.dll.
The repair worked if the program starts without the missing-file message. If the same message returns, the installer may be incomplete, the file may be quarantined, or a dependent file may also be missing.
Fix 2: Verify the game files through its launcher or platform
Time needed: 5–20 minutes
A platform repair is preferable to manual DLL replacement because it checks and restores the application’s complete file set.

For a Steam game:
- Open Steam.
- Select Library.
- Right-click the affected game and choose Properties.
- Select Installed Files.
- Choose Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for the check to finish, then launch the game again.
The exact wording may vary as Steam changes its menus. Other launchers commonly provide a Repair, Scan, Verify, or Check files command near the game’s launch settings.
If the launcher repeatedly restores and then removes bdvid32.dll, do not keep copying the file back. Check antivirus Protection History in the next step, and confirm that the installation source is legitimate. A mixed collection of files from different releases can also cause loading errors.
Fix 3: Check Windows Security quarantine
Time needed: 5–15 minutes
Antivirus software may remove or quarantine an old game library, particularly when the file is uncommon or the game uses outdated packaging.
- Open Start and search for Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent entries for the affected game or application folder.
- Open the relevant detection to see the file path and action taken.
Do not immediately restore the file. First confirm that:
- The path belongs to the legitimate game or application directory.
- The program came from its original publisher, a legitimate platform, or your original installation media.
- The installer and the entire system have been scanned.
- The file was not introduced by an unofficial repack or modified launcher.
If the file is legitimate and the source is trustworthy, follow Windows Security’s restore or allow instructions. Reinstalling the complete application is usually safer because it restores all related files together. Never disable antivirus protection broadly just to force an unknown DLL into the game folder.
The fix worked when the application launches normally and Windows Security no longer removes the restored installation. If quarantine happens again, stop and investigate the installer rather than repeatedly restoring the file.

Fix 4: Confirm the 32-bit application and its dependencies
Time needed: 10–30 minutes
The 32 in bdvid32.dll is consistent with a 32-bit library. A 64-bit edition of Windows can run 32-bit applications, but the DLL architecture must match the application that loads it.
Keep the file in the affected application’s own directory. Do not place it generically in either C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64. Those folders are managed by Windows and are not substitutes for the game’s installation folder.
If the file exists but Windows reports that it is not designed to run on Windows, or the specified module cannot be found, the problem may be:
- A damaged copy of
bdvid32.dll. - A file from a different release.
- A 32-bit and 64-bit mismatch.
- A missing dependency used by the application.
- A modified or incomplete installation.
Reinstall the whole program before installing runtimes. Visual C++ and DirectX packages do not provide bdvid32.dll. Install them only when the error specifically identifies a Microsoft component such as MSVCP*.dll, VCRUNTIME*.dll, or a particular d3dx*.dll.
If Windows identifies an optional component as missing:
- Open Start > Settings > System > Optional features.
- Select View features.
- Search for the named Windows feature.
- Select it, choose Next, then Add.
- Restart Windows if requested.
Do not install an optional feature merely because bdvid32.dll is missing. The filename alone does not establish that such a feature is required.

Update the affected game or application through its official launcher or installer. Do not replace one DLL from a newer or older release while leaving the rest of the installation unchanged.
Drivers are not the primary source of this particular file, but an old application may also fail after a graphics or compatibility problem. To check for a driver update:
- Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click the graphics device.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows if a driver is installed.
You can also check Sound, video and game controllers if the application reports a broader audio or video initialization failure. Install drivers only through Windows Update or the hardware manufacturer’s official support channel.

Fix 6: Repair Windows components only when Windows has broader problems
Time needed: 15–30 minutes
DISM and System File Checker repair Windows components. They are not expected to recreate a third-party game DLL, but they are reasonable when Windows has other damaged system files, unexplained application failures, or update problems.
- Open Start.
- Search for Command Prompt.
- Right-click it and select Run as administrator.
- Select Yes at the User Account Control prompt.
- Run this command:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until the scan reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows and try the affected application again.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC. The commands and related guidance are available in Microsoft’s System File Checker instructions.

It is optional, and it cannot replace reinstalling the specific game or application that should supply bdvid32.dll.
If SFC reports that it found no integrity violations, that does not prove the application installation is healthy. SFC only checks files protected as Windows system components.
Do not use regsvr32 as a generic DLL repair
regsvr32 is for DLLs that provide registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. It is not a universal DLL installation command.
There is no reliable evidence that bdvid32.dll is a self-registering COM or ActiveX component. Running this command is therefore not a standard fix:
regsvr32 bdvid32.dll
A message saying that DllRegisterServer was not found would be expected for an ordinary video or runtime library. Use the application’s installer instead.
Why the error appears
The most likely causes are:

Historical file inventories associate this filename with older packages including MapleStory, Dragon Nest, and Dark Blood, but that does not mean every release contains the same build. The filename alone cannot identify the exact program, version, dependency chain, or correct replacement.

Use one of these safer options:
- Locate the original installation media.
- Restore a verified backup of the complete application folder.
- Reinstall a legitimate copy from the platform that distributed the program.
- Check whether the publisher provides a current installer or compatibility update.
- Replace the obsolete application if no trustworthy installer remains.
Avoid DLL archive websites, modified game repacks, and files sent through forums or unofficial download links. A downloaded DLL may contain malware, belong to another release, use the wrong architecture, or leave the real missing dependency untouched.

64-bit Windows can run 32-bit applications. The library must match the application loading it, so a 32-bit game may correctly require a 32-bit DLL on a 64-bit computer.
Should I copy bdvid32.dll into System32?
No. Restore it beside the executable of the program that installed it. Copying it into a system directory can create version conflicts and does not repair the owning application.
Will Visual C++ or DirectX fix it?
Usually not. Those packages do not provide bdvid32.dll. Install a runtime only when the error names a missing Microsoft component, then repair the original application as well.
What does “specified module could not be found” mean?
It can mean that bdvid32.dll is absent, but it can also mean that the file exists and one of its dependent modules is missing. Reinstalling the complete application is the safest first response.

Not as a routine fix. regsvr32 applies to self-registering DLLs, and there is no reliable evidence that this library requires COM registration.
What if the file keeps disappearing?
Check Windows Security Protection History, scan the installer and system, and verify the source. If the installer is unofficial or modified, remove it and obtain a legitimate complete installation.
