In Ocean World: Eden Crafters Prologue, learn the gather-and-craft loop first, then build toward automated resource gathering and transformation. Plan your settlement with the giant waves in mind: they are the setting’s defining hazard, but official sources do not give an exact wave schedule or universally safe base location.
What to expect from the free prologue
The free prologue introduces survival, crafting, automation and terraforming on an ocean world. Its Steam listing describes gathering materials, crafting essential tools, establishing a civilization, and using conveyors and machines to automate resource gathering and transformation. These are the broad systems to learn; the official material does not establish an optimal recipe order or starter-base blueprint.

The store description puts the central danger plainly: “Ocean World presents a unique challenge: giant waves caused by a nearby moon.” The wave is not a minor detail to think about only after building. Treat exposure to it as a planning consideration as your settlement grows.
Build up from gathering to automation
Learn the basic resource loop
Begin by gathering materials and crafting the essential tools the game introduces. Use that initial loop to understand how resources support your next construction and crafting needs. The available official descriptions do not list verified early-game recipes, so follow the requirements shown in your game rather than relying on a purported universal sequence.

Use machines and conveyors to scale up
As you progress, work toward automated resource gathering and transformation. Conveyors and machines are explicitly part of the prologue’s described systems. Automation is a progression from the hands-on gathering and crafting loop—not a reason to skip learning what your resources and tools do.
Plan around the giant waves
Keep the incoming-wave threat in view when choosing how to expand. The prologue’s store page identifies giant waves caused by a nearby moon; the developer has also said waves in the full game’s Ocean World scenario can destroy many base structures in Hardcore mode. That specific destruction warning is documented for Hardcore mode, so do not assume it describes every mode identically.

No official source cited here provides a precise wave timetable, safe coordinates, or a universally optimal base layout. Avoid treating any exact timing or location as verified guidance. Instead, make the hazard part of your ongoing base-planning decisions and learn how your chosen mode behaves as you play.
Choose solo or online co-op
Steam lists both single-player and online co-op for the prologue. Choose based on whether you want to manage the gathering, building and automation loop on your own or play with others; the listed modes do not make co-op a requirement.

Controller support is optional
The developer reported improved Steam Deck and controller support in prologue update 0.51 on January 20, 2025. A controller is an optional input choice, not a required accessory; the update note does not establish compatibility for every controller model.
Prologue or full game?
The prologue is the free Ocean World introduction. The separate full game, Eden Crafters, launched version 1.0 on May 7, 2026. Its launch announcement describes five planets, including an extended Ocean World, plus expanded automation, additional machines, crafts, buildings and vehicles, exploration and lore content, achievements, and co-op multiplayer. Choose the prologue to try the Ocean World premise; look to the full game for the larger multi-planet experience.
