If Ben and Ed crashes on your Windows PC or will not launch, try these eight checks in order and retest the game after each change. Steam’s official guidance is general troubleshooting, not a guarantee that any step will fix this particular game. If the crash continues, the final step explains what information to send the developer.

Try these eight checks in order

  1. Restart the PC and Steam

Save your work, restart Windows, then open Steam again and try Ben and Ed. A fresh restart is part of Steam’s general advice for games that will not launch. Steam launch troubleshooting

  2. Verify the game files

In Steam, go to Library > Ben and Ed > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files. Wait for the check to finish; Steam says it can take several minutes. Verification can help when a game crashes or content is missing. Steam notes that one or more files may fail to verify because local configuration files are not meant to be replaced; that message alone does not mean you should panic or keep repeating the check. 3. Install available Windows updates

Check Windows Update for available updates, install them, restart if prompted, and try the game again. Steam includes updating Windows in its general Windows launch checklist; this is a diagnostic step, not a confirmed game-specific cure. Steam launch troubleshooting

  4. Update your computer’s drivers

Restart if needed and retest. Avoid unofficial driver-download sites. Steam recommends updating computer drivers as part of general launch troubleshooting. Steam launch troubleshooting

  5. Close non-essential background programs

Close apps you do not need, then launch the game again. Steam notes that interfering software can prevent games from launching and recommends disabling non-essential software for troubleshooting. Keep security protections enabled; do not disable them wholesale. If you changed startup behavior to test, restore it afterward. Steam launch troubleshooting
