Glitch Servers has the lowest published UK starting price, Fly-Serv is aimed at heavily modded worlds, and Shockbyte is useful when you want clearly published player-and-RAM tiers. These are comparisons of advertised specifications and policies, not results from a controlled performance test.
Plan on 6–8GB of RAM for a standard eight-player world and 12–16GB for large overhaul mods. Select a UK node, confirm its city and test a live server address before paying, then check renewal pricing, restore controls and the host’s responsibility for updates.

Which UK 7 Days to Die host should you choose?
Use the decision below as a starting point:
- Choose GTX Gaming for a managed service with a London infrastructure option, PC–PlayStation 5–Xbox Series X|S crossplay, full mod support, scheduled off-site backups and 24/7 support.
- Choose Glitch Servers if the lowest published UK entry price is your priority and you want selectable DDR5 memory, NVMe storage and a Pterodactyl panel.
- Choose Fly-Serv for Darkness Falls, Undead Legacy or other demanding overhauls where high-clocked Ryzen 9 7950X3D hardware and generous configuration access are useful.
- Choose Shockbyte when you want straightforward slot/RAM tiers, including a published eight-player/5GB plan and a 20-player/6GB plan.
No source provides a like-for-like benchmark of tick rate, save times or outage frequency across these companies. Treat latency, hardware and uptime statements as the providers’ own claims unless independently measured.

How much RAM does an eight-player server need?
GameServerHosting.co.uk’s 2026 guidance puts a standard eight-player server at 6–8GB of RAM. That is a planning range, not a guarantee: map exploration, entity counts, view distance, simultaneous chunk generation and the number of server-side mods all change the peak.
Vanilla or lightly modded worlds
Start at 8GB when eight people may be online together. It leaves room for a Blood Moon, late-game bases and routine save operations without forcing the host into swap or an immediate upgrade. A 6GB allocation can work for a smaller, disciplined group, but leaves less headroom for spikes.
Overhaul worlds
Target 12–16GB for Darkness Falls, Undead Legacy and similarly large overhauls. The extra memory helps the server hold larger mod assets and more active entities; it does not compensate for a weak CPU or a poorly configured mod.

A ten-player vanilla world can be easier to run than a four-player overhaul. Check whether the plan lets you add RAM and CPU resources independently. If the provider forces a slot bundle, calculate the cost of the next tier before committing to a long billing term.
Why CPU headroom matters in 7 Days to Die
7 Days to Die combines persistent world simulation, AI, physics, block changes and periodic horde events. During a Blood Moon, many zombies can be active while players generate new terrain and defend large bases. A server that has enough RAM but little single-thread CPU capacity can still suffer delayed entity updates or rubber-banding.
Look for the actual CPU allocation, not just a processor family name. “Dedicated” or “bare-metal” wording does not by itself tell you how many cores your instance receives, whether neighboring workloads share the machine, or whether CPU time is capped. Ask support:
- How many vCPU cores are assigned to the selected plan?
- Is the allocation shared, burstable or dedicated?
- Can CPU and RAM be upgraded separately?
- What happens to the world and IP address during an upgrade?
Fly-Serv advertises Ryzen 9 7950X3D nodes and DDR5 ECC memory, which is attractive for CPU-sensitive overhauls, but published hardware does not establish an in-game tick-rate result. Glitch describes dedicated RAM on bare-metal UK hardware; that is also a vendor statement rather than a benchmark.

Does a London server guarantee low ping?
No. A London location usually shortens the physical route for players in Britain, but the result depends on each player’s ISP, peering, Wi-Fi and local congestion. A player in Scotland, Northern Ireland or continental Europe may see a different route from someone in London.
What to verify before purchase
- Ask the host for the precise city and datacentre, not just “UK.”
- Request a test IP or temporary server address if the company offers one.
- Have players run a ping or traceroute at the hours when you normally play.
- Check latency from the most distant regular player, not only from the organiser’s connection.
- Test packet loss and jitter as well as average milliseconds; unstable 30ms can feel worse than steady 50ms.
GTX Gaming’s under-20ms London statement and Glitch Servers’ sub-10ms UK statement should be read as marketing claims. Your group’s measured route is the useful number.
Mods, overhauls and console crossplay
Darkness Falls and Undead Legacy
Shockbyte specifically lists Mod Launcher and Darkness Falls support. Fly-Serv lists both Darkness Falls and Undead Legacy, plus one-click mods and editable configuration. GTX Gaming advertises full mod and overhaul support. For any of these, confirm the exact game version, launcher workflow and whether the host supplies a matching client download.
Large overhauls often require every player to use the same mod version. Ask whether the panel can lock or roll back a server build, whether you can upload files through FTP/WebFTP, and whether a restore returns the mod directory as well as the world save.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsCrossplay limitations
GTX Gaming advertises crossplay among PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Console players generally cannot install arbitrary client-side overhaul files, so crossplay may restrict the mod set to content accepted by every platform. Before buying a crossplay plan, ask which server-side mods are compatible with console clients and whether enabling an overhaul disables console access.
Configuration access
Fly-Serv explicitly mentions editable serverconfig.xml. Other panels may expose the same settings through forms or hide advanced options behind support tickets. Confirm access to difficulty, zombie counts, blood-moon frequency, loot respawn, world size and whitelist settings before choosing a managed plan.
Managed game server or self-managed virtual server?
Managed hosting
A managed game host normally provides a control panel, installer, backups and support familiar with the game. GTX Gaming, Glitch Servers, Fly-Serv and Shockbyte all advertise game-oriented controls or support. This route is easier when your group wants to play rather than maintain Linux packages, firewall rules and scheduled jobs.

The trade-off is less operating-system control. You may have to wait for a supported game build, accept the panel’s file layout and pay for upgrades bundled into a higher slot tier.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Root-level administration
A virtual server gives you more control over startup scripts, monitoring, permissions and custom services, but you become responsible for patching the operating system, securing SSH, configuring the game service, rotating backups and diagnosing crashes. It is suitable for an administrator who is comfortable reading logs and recovering from a failed update.
Compare these responsibilities explicitly. A low monthly price is not a saving if nobody in the group can restore a save or repair a broken mod installation.
Backups, restores and DDoS protection
Backups are valuable only when you know their schedule, retention and restore process. Before launch, establish:
- How often a backup runs and whether it is off-site.
- How many historical copies are retained.
- Whether you can trigger a manual backup before installing a mod.
- Whether restoration is one-click, panel-driven or support-assisted.
- Whether restoring also covers configuration, mod files and player data.
- Whether a restore overwrites the live world immediately or creates a separate copy.
GTX Gaming advertises scheduled off-site backups; Glitch Servers advertises daily automated backups; Shockbyte advertises automatic backups; Fly-Serv advertises scheduled backups with one-click restoration. The wording does not establish identical retention periods, so obtain those details in writing.
DDoS protection helps absorb malicious traffic aimed at the server address, but it does not fix a saturated home connection, packet loss on an ISP route or a game-process crash. Ask whether mitigation is always enabled, whether filtering has a traffic threshold and whether an attack can trigger an IP change.

| Cost item | Question to ask |
|---|---|
| Base plan | What is the monthly price for the billing term you will use? |
| RAM | What does 8GB, 12GB or 16GB cost after the included allocation? |
| CPU | Is extra CPU available, and is it billed separately? |
| Storage | Is NVMe capacity sufficient for saves, backups and mod files? |
| Location | Does selecting a UK city change the price? |
| Backups | Are off-site or longer-retention copies an add-on? |
| Renewal | Does the price rise after an introductory period? |
| Taxes and fees | Are VAT and payment fees included at checkout? |
The published entry points range from £3.99/month at Fly-Serv to £8.80/month at GTX Gaming, with Glitch Servers at £6.99/month and Shockbyte’s published eight-player tier at £8.89/month. These figures are not equivalent resource bundles, so ranking them from cheapest to most expensive can mislead.
Setup checklist for a new UK world
- Choose the world type and player ceiling. Decide whether the group is vanilla, lightly modded or an overhaul before selecting RAM.
- Select a UK location. Record the city and test latency from all regular players.
- Set the memory target. Budget 6–8GB for a standard eight-player world; use 12–16GB for a heavy overhaul.
- Install the exact game and mod versions. Record versions in a shared note so every client matches.
- Configure access. Set a whitelist, administrator permissions, passwords and player limits before sharing the address.
- Create a manual restore point. Take a backup before changing world settings or installing a mod.
- Run a stress session. Have several players explore separate areas, then test a Blood Moon or equivalent peak event.
- Review logs and resource graphs. Look for memory exhaustion, CPU saturation, repeated restarts and save errors.
- Document recovery. Write down how to stop the server, restore a known-good backup and contact support.
Common problems and practical fixes
Players see high or unstable ping
Compare wired and Wi-Fi connections, test another UK route and check packet loss. If only one player is affected, the issue is probably local or ISP-specific. If everyone spikes together, open a support ticket with timestamps and traceroute results.
The server crashes during a Blood Moon
Inspect the server log for memory or entity errors, reduce simultaneous zombie settings temporarily and confirm that the plan has CPU headroom. If the crash began after a mod update, restore the pre-update backup and verify version compatibility before trying again.
Players cannot join after a mod change
Confirm that every client has the same mod files and version, clear stale downloads, and check whether console crossplay is incompatible with the selected overhaul. A restore should include the mod directory, not only the save.
A restore brings back the wrong world state
Check the backup timestamp, retention policy and timezone used by the panel. Rename or copy the current save before restoring if the host allows it, so you can recover newer player progress if the selected backup is not the intended one.
The advertised price does not match checkout
Check billing term, VAT, resource upgrades, location charges and renewal pricing. Save a copy of the order summary and refund policy before payment.
How to choose among the four shortlisted hosts
Pick GTX Gaming when managed breadth is the priority
Its advertised combination of London infrastructure, 8–100 slots, crossplay, full mod support, off-site backups and 24/7 support suits a mixed-platform group that wants the provider to handle routine operations. Verify the actual RAM included in your chosen tier and the latency from your players.
Best Value

Pick Glitch Servers when a low UK entry price and panel control matter
The £6.99/month starting price, selectable DDR5 memory, NVMe storage and Pterodactyl panel appeal to groups that want to tune resources without moving to a self-managed operating system. Confirm the plan’s mod and crossplay behavior and ask about refund terms.
Pick Fly-Serv for demanding overhaul administration
Its advertised Ryzen 9 7950X3D nodes, DDR5 ECC memory, overhaul support, WebFTP, editable configuration and one-click-restorable backups make it a candidate for experienced administrators. Verify the UK city, resource allocation and total price for 12–16GB before ordering.
Pick Shockbyte for transparent slot-and-RAM steps
The published 8-player/5GB, 20-player/6GB and 30-plus-player tiers make an initial budget easy to model. Mod Launcher, Darkness Falls support, FTP, automatic backups and a 72-hour self-serve refund add practical safeguards. Check whether the 5GB entry tier is sufficient for your intended mod load.

Final buying advice
For a typical UK eight-player group, buy for the world you will actually run: 8GB rather than the absolute minimum, a tested UK route, and a backup system you can operate without waiting for an emergency response. Move to 12–16GB and prioritise CPU headroom when an overhaul or large Blood Moon workload is part of the plan. The best host is therefore the one whose location, resource model, mod policy, restore process and renewal price fit your group—not simply the provider with the lowest advertised number.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I run an eight-player vanilla server on 6GB of RAM?
It may work for a lightly loaded world, but 6–8GB is the published planning range and 8GB gives more room for exploration, bases and Blood Moon spikes.
Do console players need the same mods as PC players?
Console clients cannot generally install arbitrary client-side overhaul files. Confirm crossplay compatibility with the host before enabling any mod that requires matching client files.
Is a UK location always better than a nearby European location?
Not necessarily. Measure latency and packet loss from every regular player; ISP routing can make a nearby city perform worse than a slightly farther one.
Recommended Free Tools
What should I back up before installing a mod?
Create a manual restore point that includes the world save, player data, configuration and mod files, then record the backup timestamp and mod version.
