Check the gun’s manual or manufacturer compatibility chart for battery type, voltage, dimensions, connector, and charger requirements before buying. Tokyo Marui notes that battery types vary by model and that the charger must suit the battery.
What battery fits my airsoft gun?
Start with the exact make and model of your electric airsoft gun. A pack that fits another gun may have a different chemistry, voltage, shape, or connector. Tokyo Marui’s battery selection guide gives model-dependent examples such as SOPMOD, Mini-S, and AK batteries; these are not interchangeable defaults.
- Find the model-specific guidance. Check the gun manual and the manufacturer’s official compatibility chart.
- Confirm the battery specification. Match the stated chemistry and voltage, then verify the pack’s dimensions and connector.
- Check the charger requirement. Make sure it is suitable for that chemistry and pack, including any capacity guidance in the instructions.
- Buy only after all checks agree. A connector that appears to fit does not establish electrical compatibility.
Voltage and connector are compatibility checks, not universal airsoft standards. A retailer guide also advises matching chemistry, voltage, and connector, but your gun and battery makers’ specifications should decide the purchase: Univairsoft’s battery guide.
Should I use a Li-Po or NiMH airsoft battery?
Either may be appropriate when the gun maker supports it. Tokyo Marui characterizes its Li-Po batteries as offering high capacity and responsiveness or endurance while requiring careful handling; it also describes capacity and endurance benefits for NiMH. These are the manufacturer’s descriptions, not a universal comparative test or proof that one chemistry performs best in every gun.

Compare capacity only after compatibility is established. Tokyo Marui says greater capacity can allow more BBs to be fired per charge, but the cited guidance does not establish a universal BB count or runtime.
What charger do I need for an airsoft battery?
Use a charger specified for the battery’s chemistry and pack. Tokyo Marui warns that battery type and capacity affect charger suitability, advises against unspecified chargers, and specifies a designated Li-Po charger for its MS Li-Po batteries. Do not assume that a charger is safe because its plug fits.

Follow the exact battery and charger manuals. For Tokyo Marui’s MS Li-Po packs, the manufacturer calls for its designated Li-Po charger; its guidance also says to charge at room temperature and allow a recently used pack to cool before charging. Battery-care rules depend on chemistry and manufacturer. In either case, do not use or charge a damaged pack, avoid heat and short circuits, disconnect it when charging is complete, and remove it from the gun after use. Consult the exact pack manual when its instructions differ from general guidance.

Li-Po care
For its MS Li-Po batteries, Tokyo Marui directs users to charge in a safety bag, let a recently used battery cool, remove it from the gun after use, and store it in storage mode in a safety bag away from heat and humidity. The manufacturer also recommends periodic checks. These are instructions for its own MS Li-Po packs; follow another brand’s manual for that product.
Do not charge or install a swollen or damaged pack. Tokyo Marui identifies swelling, overheating, smoke, or unusual odor as warning signs; its instructions also say not to charge or install a pack that has swollen or previously smoked or burned. Follow local rules for disposal of damaged batteries. A safety bag does not make unattended charging or use of an incompatible charger safe.

NiMH care
Tokyo Marui’s NiMH guidance says to use specified charging equipment, monitor charging, disconnect the pack when charging is finished, and remove it from the gun after use. It recommends storing its NiMH batteries charged, away from heat and humidity, and periodically refreshing the charge to account for self-discharge. Those recommendations are specific to the manufacturer’s guidance; the battery’s own manual takes precedence. Tokyo Marui says it has ended production of its NiCd batteries, so NiCd should not be treated as a current Tokyo Marui recommendation. See its battery handling guidance.
