Which smart-TV services are alternatives to Xbox Cloud Gaming?
Start with the services listed for your television’s gaming interface, then check their individual device and country requirements. NVIDIA GeForce NOW
GeForce NOW is named by both Samsung and LG as a cloud gaming option. Confirm your exact TV and software against NVIDIA’s current requirements, then check whether the games you want are available under the service’s current terms. A service appearing in a TV hub does not establish support for every model, country, membership tier, or game.

Amazon Luna
Luna has a TV compatibility list covering select Samsung TVs from 2020 onward and select LG TVs from 2021 onward, with model-year and software qualifications. Amazon says only 2022-and-newer Samsung models expose the Luna app through the Gaming Hub launcher bar, and some 2020 Samsung TVs do not support Bluetooth. Boosteroid
Boosteroid is listed by Samsung and named in LG’s Gaming Portal announcement. Treat it as a possible alternative, not as a blanket compatibility promise: verify its current TV app support, country availability, subscription terms, and game catalog before choosing it.

How to choose the right alternative
There is no established universal winner across TV compatibility, local availability, game selection, cost, and play experience. Compare these factors for your own setup:
- TV and software: Look up the full model number, model year, operating system and software version. Confirm support on both the TV maker’s and service provider’s current pages.
- Country and account: Check that the service and the relevant plan are available where you live; availability can vary by region.
- Games: Search the current catalog and terms for the specific games you want. A service being installed or listed in a hub does not mean every game is included or playable.
- Plan and cost: Compare current local pricing and what each plan includes. Plan details and catalogs can change.
- Controller and connection: Confirm that your TV and chosen service support your controller and its connection method. Consider whether your network can provide a stable connection.
What you need to play on a TV
A supported TV and service
First confirm that the service supports your exact model, software, and region. Samsung’s hub is limited to compatible Samsung devices, while Luna’s list includes model-year and software thresholds for supported Samsung and LG sets. LG’s partner announcement does not replace checking service-specific requirements.

A compatible controller
Plan on using a compatible game controller. Samsung recommends a compatible Bluetooth controller; Xbox’s TV setup guidance names Xbox and Sony PlayStation controllers as examples. Bluetooth availability is model-dependent, including on some older Samsung sets, so check whether your controller can connect to your TV or whether another supported connection method is needed. A stable internet connection
For Xbox cloud gaming on TV, Xbox recommends a wired connection or 5 GHz Wi-Fi and at least 20 Mbps. Samsung recommends a stable connection of 20 Mbps or faster for Gaming Hub cloud gaming. Quick compatibility check before you subscribe
- Find your TV’s full model and software version. Use the TV’s settings or model label, then compare the details with the manufacturer’s support information.
- Check the service’s supported-device list. For Luna, consult Amazon’s model list; for GeForce NOW or Boosteroid, check the provider’s current TV support information.
- Confirm local availability and plan terms. Check the service’s current country-specific offering and whether the games you want are playable under it.
- Verify controller support. Check both TV and service compatibility, and confirm how the controller connects—especially if you have an older Samsung TV.
- Assess your connection. Prefer wired internet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi where practical, and treat the providers’ speed guidance as recommendations rather than a performance guarantee.
Why a service listing is not a guarantee
Cloud games run on remote servers and stream to the television over the internet; Samsung describes this as games being processed remotely and streamed directly to a Samsung TV.
