What’s the best AMES 85 loadout in Black Ops 6?
The AMES 85 is a full-auto assault rifle intended for mid-to-long-range fights. Call of Duty describes it as offering “Impressive accuracy and a suitable rate of fire” for those engagements; it unlocks at Player Level 19 and has a 30-round magazine, according to the official launch weapon information.

How to choose the fifth attachment and optic
Pick Rapid Fire for a fire-rate emphasis
Insider Gaming includes Rapid Fire in its recommended configuration. It is a reasonable option if you want to prioritize rate of fire, but the available recommendations do not show that it outperforms a magazine or handling choice in every situation.
Pick a magazine when reloads interrupt your fights
CODMunity’s balanced setup uses Extended Mag I. It trades the fifth slot for ammunition capacity rather than the fire-rate focus in Insider Gaming’s setup. Consider it if you would rather carry more rounds between reloads.
Use an optic only if it helps you track targets
GamesRadar+ recommends the Pinpoint Holoscout, while CODMunity lists the Kepler Microflex. Neither is a universal requirement: sight preference and target visibility matter more than matching another player’s exact optic.

Mobility-focused alternative: a historical community build
CODMunity lists this alternative: Kepler Microflex, Suppressor, Ranger Foregrip, CQB Grip, and Strelok Laser. It shifts away from the Compensator-and-Long-Barrel baseline toward a different balance of sight, handling, and concealment. CODMunity’s page is a dated community listing, so regard it as a historical example rather than a current competitive recommendation.
Which perks, wildcard, and equipment should you use?
Mobile setup: Dexterity, Assassin, and Double Time
ONE Esports recommends Dexterity, Assassin, and Double Time with the Enforcer specialty. Its guide describes Dexterity as reducing fall damage and keeping the weapon accurate during Omnimovement, Assassin as marking enemies using killstreaks and rewarding you for hunting them, and Double Time as extending Tactical Sprint. This set suits a player who wants to move aggressively rather than hold a distant angle.
Stealth or utility: Assassin, Dexterity, and Bankroll
GamesRadar+ recommends Assassin, Dexterity, and Bankroll with Perk Greed, using Ghost as the additional perk. That is an alternative for players who value stealth or utility over the mobile Enforcer combination; it is a guide recommendation, not a mandatory class.

GamesRadar+ suggests Flashbang, Semtex, and Assault Pack, and advises carrying a knife for movement. Treat these as options to fit your match and playstyle, not as required AMES 85 components.
Optional wildcard and weapon handling
Official launch information says Gunfighter grants three additional primary-weapon attachment points. It also describes Gung-Ho as reducing movement penalties while reloading or using equipment and allowing reloads while Tactical Sprinting. These are launch-era descriptions; check their current in-game wording before building a class around them. See the official launch attachment and weapon information.

Attachment tuning has changed over time. In its Black Ops 6 Season 04 patch notes, Treyarch reduced Rapid Fire’s vertical and horizontal recoil penalties, increased Recoil Springs’ vertical and horizontal recoil improvements, increased the Gain-Twist Barrel’s bullet-velocity improvement, and increased the Ported Compensator’s vertical-recoil and first-shot-recoil improvements. The notes also list changes to Short Barrel jump handling, Lightweight and Precision Foregrip idle sway, and Ergonomic Grip slide/dive-to-fire handling. These updates show why older attachment recommendations may not map neatly to later versions; they do not prove that any one resulting configuration is best.

Keep Warzone numbers separate from Multiplayer. The Warzone Season 04 Reloaded notes changed the AMES 85 maximum damage range from 31.7m to 35.5m, Medium Damage Range 1 from 40.6m to 45.7m, and headshot multiplier from 1.2x to 1.3x. Those are Warzone-specific balance figures, not Multiplayer stats. The notes explain: “The AMES 85 has some of the best in class handling but has struggled to carve out its role. We have extended its damage ranges and improved its headshot potential to align it closer with other ARs in the class while preserving its handling to offer a unique playstyle.”
The official Season 06 Black Ops 6 patch page is dated October 8, 2025. It does not establish a definitive AMES 85 build for October 2026, and the available sources do not verify later balance notes. Check the live in-game attachment stats and current patch notes before treating a published setup as current.
