For most dedicated servers, Antistasi Community is the best turnkey insurgency mission. It puts players in an under-equipped resistance, makes the entire terrain a persistent campaign, and emphasizes infantry, guerrilla tactics, territorial control and gradual resource growth. Choose KP Liberation instead when your group wants a larger combined-arms war with a commander, logistics, forward operating bases and documented cooperation for up to 34 players. Choose an ALiVE-based mission when the server team would rather build and tune its own dynamic insurgency than install a fixed campaign.

The map decision is tied to the mission. Altis has the lowest documented dependency burden in the KP Liberation README example. Antistasi Community documents templates for Altis, Kunduz, Malden, Anizay, Takistan, Sahrani and Kujari, with faction setups changing according to climate and loaded mods. No primary source here ranks terrains by frame rate, RAM use or server tick rate, so map choice should be based on compatibility, geography and the type of campaign you want—not an unsupported performance ranking.

Quick comparison: which insurgency mission fits your server?

Mission or framework Player experience Persistence and campaign shape Dependencies and setup Best fit
Antistasi Community Resistance fighters begin with limited equipment, capture territory and use guerrilla tactics against occupying and invading forces. Persistent whole-map co-op campaign with saved statistics, destruction, vehicles and garrisons. Dedicated servers install the Antistasi mod; every client must load the same mod. Select a compatible terrain and mission. Groups that want a focused insurgency and a strong “start small, build a rebellion” loop.
KP Liberation Structured combined-arms liberation with a commander, recruitable AI, logistics, production and FOB construction. Campaign intended to run for weeks of real time while players liberate major cities; server-side saving is built in. Custom configurations can use only the terrain; prepacked missions may require terrain and faction packages such as CUP or RHS. The README documents up to 34 players. Larger groups that want planning, vehicles, supply lines and an explicit operational command layer.
ALiVE-backed mission A configurable dynamic battlefield with modular command, combat support, service support, logistics and insurgent systems. Persistence and population behavior depend on the mission maker’s ALiVE modules and configuration. Requires mission-building knowledge and a carefully matched modset rather than one universal campaign package. Experienced creators who want to tune factions, population, intelligence and irregular threats.

What makes an Arma 3 mission an insurgency?

An insurgency is more than enemies spawning in villages. The defining tension is asymmetry: one side controls conventional forces, equipment or territory while the other survives through concealment, local support, intelligence, raids and gradual accumulation of capability. A useful server mission therefore needs more than firefights. It should give players a reason to choose when to engage, show consequences when they lose equipment or territory, and create a campaign state that persists between sessions.

When comparing missions, evaluate five practical questions:

  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
  • What is the player role? Are players an under-equipped resistance, a conventional expeditionary force, or mission makers designing both sides?
  • How does the world persist? Check whether destruction, vehicles, garrisons, resources, statistics and objectives survive a restart or a new session.
  • What must every client install? A terrain-only configuration is easier to maintain than a mission requiring several faction and map packages.
  • How does the group scale? A commander and logistics system can make 20-plus players meaningful, while a smaller unit may prefer a lighter campaign loop.
  • How much building work is acceptable? A turnkey mission reduces design work; a framework offers more control at the cost of testing and maintenance.

Antistasi Community: the strongest turnkey insurgency choice

How the campaign plays

The official Antistasi Community documentation describes a Capture the Island mission in which a rebellion fights occupying and invading forces. Players begin with minor assets, loot and collect equipment, earn money and human resources, and use those resources to expand their operation. They can hire or train AI to attack, complete tasks or defend positions they have captured.

That opening condition creates a different rhythm from a standard attack-and-defend scenario. A patrol that would be disposable in a conventional mission can be a serious risk when the group has little equipment. Players decide whether to raid for weapons, sabotage a stronger force, secure a town or withdraw before an alarm brings a response. As the resistance grows, the same map supports more ambitious operations without replacing the campaign with a sequence of unrelated missions.

Persistence and the whole-map model

Antistasi Community describes itself as “a persistent whole-map multiplayer co-op” focused on resistance, infantry and guerrilla tactics. Its project documentation highlights persistent destruction, vehicles and garrisons, under-cover approaches and a persistent stat-save system. In practical terms, the server is expected to remember the state of a rebellion rather than reset every session to a clean briefing.

This makes Antistasi particularly suitable for groups that meet on a regular schedule. Players can stop after a successful raid, return later and plan around the territory, equipment and enemy pressure that remain. Administrators should still verify the save behavior of the exact mission version they deploy and maintain regular backups of the server’s save data; persistence is a campaign feature, not a substitute for operational backups.

Dedicated-server setup

The official beginner guide reduces the initial setup to two decisions: select a compatible map and select the Antistasi Community mission. On a dedicated server, install the Antistasi mod. Every client must load the same Antistasi mod as the host, along with any terrain or faction dependencies required by the selected mission.

  1. Choose the terrain first. Confirm that the mission version includes a template for the map and that the terrain Workshop item is available to both the server and all players.
  2. Install the Antistasi Community mod on the dedicated server. Keep the server’s mod list and load order documented so a later update does not silently change the mission.
  3. Give every player the identical mod set. A client missing the Antistasi mod, the terrain or a required faction package can fail to join or load an incomplete scenario.
  4. Launch the matching mission. Use the map-specific Antistasi Community mission rather than assuming that a mission built for one terrain will work on another.
  5. Test persistence with a small group. Capture a position, acquire equipment, stop the server cleanly and reconnect. Confirm that the expected campaign state returns before scheduling a full operation.

Supported map families and faction templates

The Antistasi faction and template guide lists Altis, Kunduz, Malden, Anizay, Takistan, Sahrani and Kujari among its documented arid-map options. These are not interchangeable cosmetic backdrops. The project explains that climate and loaded mods influence faction templates, so the same mission concept can use different units, equipment and assumptions on a Mediterranean island, a Central Asian-style terrain or a desert map.

Use the documented list as a compatibility starting point, not as a promise that every community port has identical behavior. Verify the exact mission release, terrain version and faction mods together. If a map is not in the current template guide, treat it as a mission-editing or community-port project rather than a guaranteed drop-in choice.

Who should choose Antistasi?

  • Choose it when the group wants to feel like a resistance that starts with almost nothing and grows through captured resources.
  • Choose it when infantry and small-unit decisions matter more than a formal order of battle.
  • Choose it when the server should deliver a ready-made campaign rather than require extensive mission design.
  • Do not choose it solely because a terrain looks large or attractive; the documented template and mod compatibility are more important than scenery.

KP Liberation: a structured combined-arms campaign

How it differs from Antistasi

KP Liberation describes a persistent campaign in which players work for several weeks of real time to liberate all major cities in an area. It is still a capture-the-island experience, but its center of gravity is operational planning rather than a purely clandestine rebellion. The documented systems include a commander role, planning and production, logistics, recruitable AI, resource-based purchasing, FOB construction, adaptive hostile forces and secondary objectives.

That combination gives a group a visible campaign structure. Players can decide where to establish a forward operating base, how to move supplies, which city to attack next and when to spend resources on vehicles, equipment or additional personnel. Recruitable AI helps fill out operations when attendance varies, while the commander and production systems give larger groups a shared objective beyond “find the next contact.”

Player scale and saving

The KP Liberation project README documents cooperation for up to 34 players. That is a stated project figure, not a guarantee of smooth performance for every hardware configuration, modset or mission preset. Treat it as the documented cooperative scale and test your own server before inviting the full roster.

KP Liberation also documents built-in server-side saving. Because the campaign is intended to continue over weeks, the administrator should establish a restart and backup routine before launch. Test a save after building an FOB, spending resources and completing an objective; then restart the server and verify that the expected state is restored.

Map and mod dependency choices

KP Liberation’s README distinguishes between a custom configuration and prepacked mission files. The project states that every map can be played with no mods beyond the map when the configuration preset is set to custom. Prepacked files can require terrain and faction packages. The documented examples include CUP Terrains and RHS for Al Rayak and Chernarus, while Altis is listed with no additional mods in the README example.

KP Liberation deployment approach What it means for the server Administrative trade-off
Custom preset Use the map itself without adding the mission’s prepacked terrain or faction packages, subject to the configuration you create. Lower dependency burden, but the administrator must configure and validate factions and settings.
Prepacked mission file Use the supplied configuration for a particular terrain and faction set; examples documented by the project include CUP Terrains and RHS on Al Rayak and Chernarus. Faster to deploy when the group accepts the preset, but every listed dependency must be installed and kept in sync.
Altis example The README lists Altis as requiring no additional mods beyond the map in that example. A practical first test for groups that want to minimize dependency troubleshooting.

Who should choose KP Liberation?

  • Choose it when the group can make meaningful use of a commander, logistics chain and FOB network.
  • Choose it when combined-arms operations and resource spending are as important as stealth and raids.
  • Choose it when a documented 34-player cooperative scale matches your roster.
  • Choose it when you are willing to maintain a larger dependency list for a prepacked terrain and faction configuration, or to do the work of a custom preset.

ALiVE-backed insurgency: maximum control, maximum authoring work

What ALiVE provides

The ALiVE wiki describes the framework as a dynamic persistent battlefield for ArmA 3. Its modular systems cover command, combat support, service support and logistics for realistic operations up to company level. Rather than handing a server one fixed campaign, ALiVE gives a mission maker components with which to populate an operational area and define how the opposing forces behave.

An ALiVE mission can therefore be shaped around the group’s preferred insurgency. The author can tune population placement, factions, operational sectors, support assets, intelligence flow and persistence behavior. That flexibility is valuable when a unit has a specific scenario in mind, but it also means the quality of the final experience depends on the mission’s configuration and testing.

Example insurgent threats

The Bohemia Interactive Forums scenario Battle of FATA, published on 2016-10-11, demonstrates an ALiVE insurgency that adds suicide bombers, improvised explosive devices, vehicle-borne IEDs and intelligence recovered from dead bodies. The scenario page warns that this particular mission should be locally hosted. That warning belongs to Battle of FATA; it should not be generalized into a rule that every ALiVE mission must be locally hosted.

  • Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft

The example is useful because it shows what a framework-based mission can add beyond territorial capture: uncertainty about who is a threat, intelligence that comes from interacting with the battlefield and attacks that punish predictable movement. A server team choosing this route must document those systems for players and test edge cases such as respawn, persistence and explosive-object cleanup.

Who should choose ALiVE?

  • Choose ALiVE when someone on the team is comfortable building and debugging Arma 3 missions.
  • Choose it when the group wants to tailor the population, factions, intelligence and support systems instead of accepting a fixed campaign.
  • Choose it when a realistic company-level operational framework matters more than a turnkey installation.
  • Do not choose it as the quickest way to get a server running; mission design, mod parity and testing are part of the project.

How to select a map without unsupported performance claims

Start with documented compatibility

For KP Liberation, Altis is the clearest low-dependency starting point because the project’s README lists it without additional mods in its example. For Antistasi Community, begin with one of the documented terrains—Altis, Kunduz, Malden, Anizay, Takistan, Sahrani or Kujari—and confirm the corresponding template and faction requirements. For ALiVE, select the terrain only after checking that the mission’s population, faction and module setup has been authored for it.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Match geography to the campaign

Settlement density, road networks, sightlines and distance between objectives change how an insurgency feels. Dense villages can support concealment and human-intelligence scenarios; open terrain can make movement and logistics more exposed. A large map may create room for maneuver but also increase travel time between sessions. These are design considerations, not evidence that one map will deliver a higher server tick rate.

Treat community ports as compatibility projects

A community terrain port may need a specific Workshop item, faction package or mission edit. Before announcing a campaign, write down the exact mission version, terrain item, faction mods and client/server load order. Have one player join from a clean profile or a second machine to catch missing dependencies that the administrator’s development setup has cached.

Dedicated-server launch checklist

  1. Define the campaign role. Write one sentence describing whether players are a resistance, a conventional liberation force or operators in a custom battlefield.
  2. Choose the mission family. Use Antistasi for a turnkey guerrilla campaign, KP Liberation for commander-led combined arms, or ALiVE for a custom design.
  3. Lock the terrain and version. Record the terrain Workshop item, mission release and any required faction packages.
  4. Build a manifest. List server-side and client-side mods separately, including load order where the mission requires it.
  5. Install on a staging instance. Do not make the first full-roster operation the first time the server has loaded the mission.
  6. Test joining and respawn. Use at least two clients, then test the expected respawn, AI recruitment and vehicle behavior.
  7. Test persistence. Change a campaign variable—such as territory, an FOB, equipment or resources—stop cleanly, restart and confirm the state.
  8. Document recovery. Back up saves and configuration files, and record the last known-good mod versions before updating anything.
  9. Publish player instructions. Give players the exact mod collection, required map and a short explanation of the campaign’s resource and command systems.

Common problems and practical fixes

Players cannot join or are kicked at mission start

First compare the server and client mod manifests character for character. Antistasi requires every client to load the same Antistasi mod as the host; KP Liberation prepacked missions may require terrain and faction packages that a custom preset does not. Confirm the terrain Workshop item and remove stale or duplicate versions before changing mission settings.

The mission loads but factions or equipment are wrong

Check whether the selected map uses the intended template and whether the faction package is present. Antistasi templates vary with climate and loaded mods. KP Liberation’s custom preset requires the administrator to configure the factions rather than assuming a prepacked mission’s defaults. On ALiVE, inspect the faction and population modules in the mission editor.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The campaign appears to reset

Verify that the server is stopping cleanly, that the save location is writable and that the mission’s persistence setting is enabled. Test with a known change—captured territory, an FOB or spent resources—rather than relying on a player’s memory of the previous session. Keep a backup before updating the mission or server files.

Large operations become difficult to coordinate

Use the mission’s intended command structure instead of adding more objectives. KP Liberation groups should assign a commander and separate logistics, FOB construction and assault responsibilities. Antistasi groups should agree on which territory and resources are priorities. ALiVE administrators should reduce simultaneous operational demands or tune support modules rather than assuming that more AI will improve the scenario.

The server feels slow on a particular terrain

No authoritative source in the available project documentation establishes a map-by-map CPU, RAM or tick-rate ranking. Measure your own deployment with the exact mission version, player count, AI density and modset. Keep the result tied to those conditions; it is not a universal verdict on the terrain.

A decision framework for your group

Pick Antistasi Community if…

Your group wants the clearest insurgency identity: begin weak, raid for equipment, capture ground, grow a resistance and return to a world that remembers what happened. It is the most direct choice when the server team wants to spend time playing rather than authoring a campaign.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Pick KP Liberation if…

Your roster can support a commander and a logistics game, and you want a visible route through major cities over several weeks. The documented 34-player scale and server-side saving make it the natural fit for a larger organized group, provided everyone accepts the selected terrain and dependency requirements.

Pick ALiVE if…

Your mission makers want to decide how insurgents operate, how intelligence is gathered and how support and logistics function. ALiVE is the right tool when customization is the goal and the team has time to validate the resulting mission.

Bottom line

Install Antistasi Community first if you need one recommendation: it delivers a persistent, whole-map resistance campaign with the least mission-authoring overhead. Move to KP Liberation for a commander-led combined-arms war, especially if a 34-player cooperative ceiling and FOB logistics match your group. Use ALiVE when you are deliberately building a bespoke insurgency. For maps, start with documented compatibility—Altis is the lowest-dependency KP Liberation example—then choose terrain based on geography, faction templates and the modset your players can reliably maintain.
