Best Arma 3 Server Mods to Install in 2026: CBA_A3, RHS, ACE3 and Antistasi

CBA_A3 is the essential foundation for an Arma 3 server in 2026. Choose RHS for vehicles and weapons, ACE3 for milsim systems, or Antistasi for a persistent co-op campaign, then test client requirements and hardware before launch.

Install CBA_A3 first. It is the dependency foundation for the most useful server stacks in 2026, and RHS and ACE3 will not launch without it. From there, choose one main direction: RHS for a large package of vehicles, weapons and uniforms; ACE3 for demanding milsim systems; or Antistasi for a persistent co-op guerrilla campaign. Add ACE3 to an RHS server only when your hardware and players are ready for the extra simulation load.

The recommendations below reflect information available on October 14, 2026. Workshop versions, update dates and compatibility can change, so verify every mod’s current requirements before opening the server to the public.

Quick recommendation: build around one clear playstyle

A reliable Arma 3 server is easier to maintain when its mod list has a purpose. Start with CBA_A3, then select a principal content or gameplay package instead of installing everything that looks popular. RHS and Antistasi solve different problems: RHS expands the military sandbox, while Antistasi supplies a persistent campaign structure. ACE3 can sit alongside either when the community wants more realistic medical, ballistics and equipment systems.

Server goal Recommended stack What players get Main trade-off
General-purpose military realism CBA_A3 + RHS Broad selection of vehicles, weapons and uniforms Higher memory and CPU demand than a minimal server
Hardcore milsim CBA_A3 + ACE3 Medical simulation, advanced ballistics and detailed equipment management More systems to learn, configure and test
Persistent co-op campaign CBA_A3 + Antistasi Long-running guerrilla warfare progression for a regular group Campaign rules and mission framework matter as much as the mod files
Realism campaign with expanded arsenal CBA_A3 + RHS + ACE3 RHS content combined with ACE3’s simulation features Most demanding option; budget for a fast CPU and ample RAM

There is no universal “best” stack. A casual public server may be better served by the smallest list that delivers its intended mission, while a milsim unit may value ACE3’s procedures more than a large arsenal. Keep the first release conservative; a stable three-mod foundation is more useful than a sprawling collection that players cannot synchronize.

1. CBA_A3 is the dependency you should install first

What it does in a server stack

CBA_A3, or Community Base Addons, is the common foundation identified for the 2026 server setup. RHS and ACE3 depend on it, so those mods will not launch correctly when CBA_A3 is missing or loaded incorrectly. Treat it as infrastructure rather than optional content: install it on the dedicated server and on every player’s client before troubleshooting a larger stack.

How to deploy it

  1. Subscribe to the current CBA_A3 entry in Steam Workshop on a test client, or download it through the distribution method supported by your server host.
  2. Copy or synchronize the complete mod folder to the dedicated server. Preserve the folder name supplied by the Workshop package; do not rename files casually, because launch parameters and dependency checks can rely on the expected directory.
  3. Add CBA_A3 to the server’s enabled-mod list. In a self-hosted installation this is normally the -mod= launch parameter; managed hosts expose the same setting in a control panel.
  4. Install the identical CBA_A3 build on each client. A client that lacks the dependency, has a different build, or has a damaged download may be rejected during connection.
  5. Start a private test session before adding RHS, ACE3 or Antistasi. Confirm that the server reaches the mission-selection screen and that clients can join without a missing-addon error.

Do not infer that CBA_A3 guarantees compatibility with every other mod. It supplies the shared framework, but each additional Workshop page remains the authority for its own dependencies and supported versions.

2. RHS: the broadest content expansion in this shortlist

Why choose RHS

RHS (Red Hammer Studios) is described as a complete package of military vehicles, weapons and uniforms and as a standard choice for realism-oriented communities. It is the strongest fit when your server’s identity is built around equipment variety: organized factions, authentic-looking loadouts and a larger catalog of ground and air assets.

RHS is a content decision, not merely a visual upgrade. Mission files may reference its classes directly, players need the same assets installed, and the server must have enough processing headroom to handle the additional entities. Plan the mod list around the missions you actually intend to run rather than enabling every optional component without a use case.

RHS installation and validation

  1. Install CBA_A3 and verify a clean test launch first.
  2. Subscribe to the current RHS packages required by your chosen missions. The exact package set can vary, so read the dependency and required-mod sections on each Workshop page.
  3. Place the RHS folders on the server and enable them after CBA_A3 in the host’s mod configuration.
  4. Synchronize the same packages to clients. A server-only installation is not enough for content that appears in a player’s game.
  5. Load one representative mission and inspect faction, vehicle and weapon assets before inviting the full group. Missing class errors usually indicate an incomplete or mismatched package set.

When RHS is the wrong first choice

RHS is a poor fit for a lightweight server whose players only need a small number of assets. Its breadth can increase download size, startup time and troubleshooting effort. If the group’s main attraction is a persistent campaign rather than equipment variety, Antistasi is the more direct starting point.

3. ACE3: add simulation depth when the group will use it

What ACE3 changes

ACE3 adds medical simulation, advanced ballistics and in-depth equipment management. Those systems can transform a conventional co-op mission into a deliberate milsim experience: casualties require treatment decisions, weapon behavior demands more care, and players interact with equipment through additional procedures instead of relying on Arma 3’s simplest defaults.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The value of ACE3 depends on training and mission design. If players are not briefed on its medical and equipment workflows, the extra realism can feel like friction. Establish the intended difficulty before deployment and test the settings with the people who will administer the server.

ACE3 installation and onboarding

  1. Install and test CBA_A3.
  2. Install the current ACE3 package and any dependencies listed on its Workshop page.
  3. Enable ACE3 on the server and require the matching client installation.
  4. Open the ACE3 configuration for the mission or server and decide which medical, ballistics and interaction features your unit will use. Avoid changing every option at once; make one controlled configuration and document it.
  5. Run a short training scenario covering injury treatment, interaction menus, equipment handling and the consequences of incapacitation.
  6. Only then move the configuration to the public mission rotation.

ACE3 with RHS

RHS plus ACE3 is the most feature-rich combination in this guide, but it is also the combination specifically associated with heavier hardware requirements. Use it when the expanded arsenal and deeper simulation both serve the same community. Otherwise, select one as the defining feature and keep the stack easier to operate.

4. Antistasi: choose a persistent co-op game mode

Why it is different from a content mod

Antistasi is described as more than a conventional add-on: it is a persistent co-op guerrilla game mode designed to keep a community playing for months. The attraction is continuity. Operations, territory and progression form an ongoing campaign rather than a sequence of disconnected missions.

That makes Antistasi a good choice for groups that can return to the same server regularly. It is less suitable for a server whose audience expects short, self-contained sessions with frequent mission changes. The campaign’s persistence also makes backups, administrative access and a clear reset policy important operational concerns.

Deploying an Antistasi campaign

  1. Install CBA_A3 and confirm the server can start a basic mission.
  2. Install the Antistasi version and any dependencies specified by its current Workshop listing.
  3. Choose the terrain, faction setup and campaign variant that match the group’s schedule and preferred difficulty.
  4. Enable the required mod files on the server and synchronize them to clients.
  5. Start a private campaign and verify that saving, reconnecting and resuming work as expected.
  6. Set a backup routine for campaign data before public launch. Persistent progress is valuable, and an accidental reset can remove weeks of community activity.

Antistasi can coexist with additional content, but every extra dependency expands the number of files that must remain synchronized. Begin with the campaign’s documented requirements; add RHS or ACE3 only after the base scenario is stable and the group has a reason to use them.

5. Optional performance and quality-of-life candidates

A Steam Workshop collection titled “ArmA 3 2026 Mod List” includes AI Culler, Advanced Weapon Mounting and Advanced Vault System: Remastered. These are candidates rather than automatic recommendations. The collection metadata was last updated roughly 476 days before the October 14, 2026 snapshot, so you must confirm current compatibility on each individual Workshop page before using any of them.

AI Culler

AI Culler is described as a two-part performance mod that targets server-side simulation overhead and client-side rendering cost when missions contain large numbers of AI units. That makes it potentially relevant to heavily populated co-op scenarios, but performance changes can affect mission behavior. Test it with your actual AI counts, scripts and headless-client arrangement, and compare logs and frame time before and after deployment.

Advanced Weapon Mounting

This candidate appears in the collection as a quality-of-life or interaction enhancement. Its inclusion in a dated collection does not establish that it supports your current mission, CBA_A3 build or ACE3 configuration. Treat it as an isolated experiment: add it to a copy of the server profile, test weapon handling with representative clients, and remove it if it changes controls or produces errors.

Advanced Vault System: Remastered

The same caution applies to Advanced Vault System: Remastered. Movement changes can affect collision, animation and mission assumptions. Verify that the feature works for every required client and that it does not conflict with other interaction or movement systems before enabling it in a public rotation.

6. Hardware planning: RHS and ACE3 can expose weak servers

The combination of RHS and ACE3 is specifically reported to require plenty of RAM and a fast CPU. On slow hardware, load times can rise sharply and the server can lag when several players are connected. Mod choice and host choice therefore belong in the same planning conversation.

What to monitor during a test

  • Startup time: record how long the server takes to reach a joinable state after adding each major package.
  • Memory headroom: watch usage while the mission is loading and again after AI, vehicles and players are active. A server that barely starts may fail during a longer session.
  • CPU saturation: observe the main server thread during AI-heavy moments, not only while the lobby is empty.
  • Join and mission-load behavior: have several clients connect at once. A stack that works for one administrator may stall when the normal group arrives.
  • Runtime stability: leave a representative mission running long enough to expose gradual degradation, script errors or persistence problems.

Do not promise a player capacity from the mod list alone. Actual limits depend on mission scripting, AI numbers, view settings, network conditions, server hardware and host configuration. Increase player count gradually and keep a rollback profile with the last known-good mod set.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

7. Client-versus-server installation: check every Workshop page

Not every Arma 3 mod is server-side only. A Steam Workshop listing explicitly states that its mod must be installed on both client and server. The safe rule is to inspect the requirements for every package rather than assuming that the dedicated server can carry the entire stack by itself.

Use a synchronization checklist

  • Record the exact mod names and folder identifiers in a shared document.
  • Mark each item as required on the server, required on clients, or optional only after the Workshop page confirms the distinction.
  • Keep the same version or Workshop revision across the test server and player machines whenever the page requires matching files.
  • Tell players to remove duplicate or obsolete copies that can create load-order confusion.
  • After an update, test a clean client connection before announcing the change to the community.

When a player receives a missing-addon or signature error, compare the enabled list first. Do not immediately add more compatibility mods; mismatched files and incorrect load order are more common explanations.

8. A staged installation plan for a new server

  1. Create a disposable test profile. Keep the production campaign and mission files separate so experiments cannot erase persistent progress.
  2. Install CBA_A3 alone. Launch the server, join from one client and confirm the basic connection path.
  3. Select one primary direction. Add RHS for equipment breadth, ACE3 for simulation, or Antistasi for a persistent campaign.
  4. Validate the mission. Start the exact terrain and scenario type your group plans to play, then check assets, interactions, saving and reconnecting.
  5. Add the second major system only with a reason. ACE3 can be paired with RHS or Antistasi, but document the added requirements and retest performance.
  6. Measure with several players. Reproduce the expected AI count and simultaneous joins; note load times, memory, CPU behavior and lag.
  7. Trial optional candidates individually. Test AI Culler, Advanced Weapon Mounting or Advanced Vault System: Remastered one at a time, never as an untracked bundle.
  8. Freeze a release. Record the enabled mods, configuration files and mission version. Announce the exact client list and keep a rollback copy.

9. Troubleshooting common failures

RHS or ACE3 will not launch

Check that CBA_A3 is installed on the server and clients, enabled in the launch configuration and loading before the dependent package. Then compare the installed Workshop revisions. A missing dependency or an incomplete download is more likely than a need for another unrelated mod.

Clients cannot join

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Load times became excessive

Return to the last known-good profile, then add packages one at a time. RHS and ACE3 together are the first combination to scrutinize because the reported hardware warning specifically concerns their RAM and CPU demands. Reduce AI and mission complexity during testing before buying more capacity.

The server lags with several players

Reproduce the problem with a controlled player count and record CPU, memory and AI activity. Test AI Culler separately if your mission has large AI populations, but keep a comparison run without it because a performance mod can change simulation behavior.

An old collection item causes errors

Do not assume that a collection labeled for 2026 is current. The referenced collection’s metadata was already about 476 days old at the October 14, 2026 snapshot. Open the individual Workshop page, check its update history and requirements, and remove it if compatibility is not established.

10. Older recommendations that need extra scrutiny

An older multiplayer-mod article lists Star Wars Opposition, Mass Effect Opposition, XMedSys and Fall of the Titans. That article was about 1,259 days old according to search metadata at the time of review. Those names should not be treated as current 2026 recommendations without checking whether their Workshop pages are maintained, whether they support your Arma 3 build and whether active communities still use them.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The practical rule is simple: a historical list can provide ideas, but a current Workshop page, dependency declaration and successful test connection must decide what enters your production server.

11. Choosing the final stack

If your community mainly wants… Start with… Add later only if…
Authentic-looking military equipment and faction variety CBA_A3 + RHS ACE3’s medical and ballistics systems are part of the group’s planned training
Procedural, high-consequence milsim CBA_A3 + ACE3 RHS assets are needed by the mission and the host has tested the extra load
A campaign that develops over many sessions CBA_A3 + Antistasi Additional content has documented dependencies and does not undermine persistence
Large AI battles Your chosen core stack first AI Culler passes a controlled before-and-after test on the actual mission

Keep optional movement and weapon-interaction candidates out of the initial release unless they solve a clearly identified problem. Every extra mod creates another update, compatibility and support obligation for administrators and players.

12. Maintenance after launch

  • Update deliberately: do not update the server and announce an immediate public session without a connection test.
  • Maintain a changelog: record mod updates, configuration changes and mission revisions so a regression has a clear starting point.
  • Back up persistent data: this is essential for Antistasi campaigns and useful for any server with customized profiles.
  • Keep a rollback set: preserve the last working mod files and configuration before a major update.
  • Review requirements regularly: Workshop dependencies and client/server rules can change even when the mod’s name remains the same.
  • Communicate the exact list: players should know which packages are mandatory, which are optional and when a restart will occur.

A modest, documented stack is easier to keep online than a fashionable but untested collection. Revisit the mod list when the community’s missions change, not simply because a new collection appears.
