PC Gamer’s five-attachment setup leans on range and recoil control while adding magazine capacity and a flexible grip choice. The guide dates to November 6, 2024, and its listed attachment effects may have changed with later updates.

Mobility-focused alternative
For a more movement-oriented direction, CODMunity lists a Black Ops 6 build with Vertical Foregrip, Extended Mag III, CQB Grip, Infiltrator Stock, and Strelok Laser. The page was last updated October 9, 2025; this is an alternate handling choice, not evidence that it currently outperforms the balanced baseline.

Which build direction should you choose?
- More range and bullet velocity: Start with the Suppressed Reinforced Long Barrel in the balanced setup if you want to stretch the AS VAL beyond close engagements.
- More recoil control: The balanced setup pairs Vertical Foregrip with Recoil Springs. These are the guide’s recommendations, not a controlled comparison.
- More magazine capacity: Extended Mag 2 or Extended Mag III appears in the respective builds. Compare their current capacity and handling effects in-game rather than assuming they are interchangeable.
- More aggressive handling: Try the mobility build’s CQB Grip, Infiltrator Stock, and Strelok Laser if its aim-and-fire timing trade suits your playstyle.
- Different sight picture: PC Gamer suggests adding an optic if the iron sights are uncomfortable. Because the AS VAL has no muzzle attachment slot, a wildcard that only adds attachment slots has less value for a setup using five attachments; making room for an optic may still require a different arrangement.
AS VAL unlock and published base stats
Activision describes the AS VAL as a full-auto assault rifle with an integrated suppressor and improved mobility. It unlocks at Player Level 55. The rifle has no muzzle attachment slot, a constraint to account for when planning a Gunsmith setup.

Activision’s Season 1 patch notes record historical changes to AS VAL damage and its headshot multiplier. Those notes provide balance context, but they do not establish the weapon’s current in-game values or the present performance of a particular attachment combination.
