Best Beginner-Friendly Deadlock Heroes for Players Who Prefer Simple Reloads

Start with Infernus for straightforward Rapid Fire pressure. Haze adds stealth and positioning demands, while Abrams offers a planned close-range shotgun style. Learn why reload items do not define a hero’s base simplicity.

Start with Infernus. His current Deadlock.io reference entry marks him Easy and New Player Recommended, and his Rapid Fire weapon supports a straightforward loop: keep a reachable target under sustained fire so his burn pressure stays active. Choose Haze if you want the same broad weapon pattern with stealth and assassination decisions, or Abrams if “simple” means a shotgun and direct close-range fights. No official Deadlock source publishes a “simplest reload” ranking, so these recommendations interpret your preference as uncomplicated base weapon handling plus low hero complexity.

What “simple reloads” can—and cannot—mean in Deadlock

Deadlock does not publish a hero leaderboard for reload comfort. The current community-maintained hero reference describes weapon archetypes, hero complexity and recommended audience, but it does not assign a reload-ease score. That distinction matters: a hero can have an approachable game plan while still asking you to learn magazine timing, positioning or ability timing.

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

For this guide, “simple reloads” means a weapon whose ordinary firing cycle is easy to understand while you learn movement, cover, lane pressure and the soul economy. It does not mean that the hero reloads faster than every other hero, that an item can remove all downtime, or that the hero guarantees easy wins. The labels and values below were checked on October 13, 2026; Deadlock.io is an unofficial reference, not a Valve publication, and patches can change kits, labels and item effects.

Best picks at a glance

Hero Weapon pattern Distance and commitment What makes the plan clear Main beginner burden
Infernus Rapid Fire Mid-range sustained contact; keep a reachable target in your firing lane Continue landing weapon hits to maintain burn pressure Chasing beyond safe range can break your pressure and expose you
Haze Rapid Fire Mid-range marksman/assassin play with stealth and target selection Stay on one target long enough for sustained hits to matter Invisibility does not make an approach automatically safe; positioning choices are frequent
Abrams Shotgun Close-range tank/brawler engagements Commit to a short fight where your durability and shotgun matter You must plan routes, walls and an exit before charging

Infernus is the clearest first choice for a player who specifically wants uncomplicated rapid-fire handling. Haze is a neighboring choice when stealth sounds more appealing than a pure pressure loop. Abrams suits someone who finds a shotgun’s deliberate close-range rhythm easier than tracking a rapid-fire stream.

Why Infernus is the strongest first recommendation

Try Infernus if you want to keep shooting and build pressure

Infernus’s basic loop is easy to state: acquire a target you can safely reach, keep your weapon connecting, and let repeated hits sustain your burn pressure. You do not need to invent a complicated sequence before your gun becomes useful. That clarity leaves more attention for the fundamentals that usually overwhelm new players—staying near cover, watching the wave, collecting souls and recognizing when a lane is no longer safe.

“Reachable” is the important qualifier. The goal is not to follow an enemy through every doorway or around every corner. If maintaining contact requires walking into several opponents, crossing open ground or abandoning your wave, stop firing and reset. A simple weapon plan is valuable only when it is paired with a simple retreat rule.

A practical Infernus firing loop

  1. Identify one opponent who is already within a safe firing lane rather than selecting the most distant target on screen.
  2. Begin firing from cover or from an angle that leaves you a clear path backward.
  3. Keep your aim on that target while the burn pressure is useful; do not switch targets merely because another enemy appears for a moment.
  4. When the target leaves your reachable space, break contact, reload from safety and return to the wave or cover.
  5. Spend souls with a stated purpose, such as surviving the next lane exchange or preserving your ability to keep firing.

This is a recommendation based on the current reference labels and kit description, not a promise of easy victories. Infernus still requires aim, spacing and a judgment about when pressure has become overextension.

Haze: the rapid-fire alternative with more positioning decisions

Choose Haze if you want a stealth-oriented marksman/assassin feel

Haze shares the two labels most useful to a new player—Easy and New Player Recommended—and uses a Rapid Fire weapon. Sustained hits on one target are central to her guide, so she can feel familiar to someone who likes holding a target in the reticle rather than managing a slow, high-commitment shot.

The difference is tactical rather than purely mechanical. Haze’s stealth-oriented identity creates more questions before you fire: Is this approach concealed? Which target is worth revealing yourself for? Where will you go if the first burst does not finish the fight? Those decisions can make her less comfortable than Infernus for a beginner whose priority is the fewest possible positioning choices.

  • COMPACT RESEALABLE PACKAGE: store your pack of Windex Gaming Wipes anywhere in your home for whenever a quick and easy wipedown is needed

Do not treat invisibility as a guaranteed safe approach

The current guide specifically cautions that invisibility alone does not make an approach safe. Use concealment to improve the conditions of an engagement, not to replace a route, cover or exit. If you cannot name the cover you will use after opening fire, wait. A stealth entry that leaves you surrounded is still a bad entry.

A beginner Haze loop

  • Pick a single target whose retreat path and nearby cover you understand.
  • Use stealth to create a favorable angle, not simply to walk directly into the enemy team.
  • Hold sustained contact long enough for your weapon pattern to matter.
  • Break off when the target reaches safety or when additional enemies arrive.
  • Review whether the engagement failed because of aim, timing or the approach route; do not solve every failure by taking a riskier approach.

Abrams: the simple shotgun option

Choose Abrams if close range feels more natural than rapid fire

Abrams is labeled Easy and is presented as a tank/brawler. His shotgun gives a different interpretation of simple handling: fewer expectations about maintaining a long stream of bullets, but a stronger requirement to be close enough for the weapon and durability to matter. If you prefer deciding “I am taking this short fight now” over tracking a target through sustained fire, Abrams may be the better fit.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The hidden complexity is commitment

Abrams is not a license to charge whenever an opponent is visible. His guide emphasizes choosing routes, walls and exits before committing to close combat. A wall or corner can determine whether your entry becomes a controlled fight or a one-way trip into several enemies. Before moving, identify how you will reach the target and where you will retreat if the fight turns unfavorable.

  1. Approach through cover or terrain that limits the angles from which you can be attacked.
  2. Check that your intended target is close enough for a shotgun engagement.
  3. Commit only when you can identify a wall, corner or route that supports your exit.
  4. Take the short-range fight, then disengage instead of pursuing through unknown terrain.
  5. Return to the wave or a safe position so your close-range strength is available for the next engagement.

Abrams is therefore an alternative for a different kind of beginner, not a superior version of Infernus. His weapon is straightforward; his approach-and-exit decisions are the part that needs practice.

How to decide among the three

If your priority is… Start with… Reason
Keep the plan as close as possible to “shoot a reachable target” Infernus His Rapid Fire pressure loop has the fewest extra positioning decisions in this group.
Rapid fire plus stealth and a marksman/assassin identity Haze The weapon pattern is familiar, but you must make more choices about approach and reveal timing.
A close-range fight with a shotgun instead of a sustained stream Abrams His tank/brawler role rewards planned commitment, terrain awareness and a clear exit.

Do not use historical win rate as a shortcut for beginner suitability. The independent DeadlockHeroes.org quiz reference explains that its order is based on player preferences and editorial difficulty, not win rate. A hero can be strong in expert hands while still asking a new player to solve too many decisions at once.

Reload items are separate from a hero’s ordinary weapon pattern

Two in-game items are easy to confuse with a hero’s reload identity. They modify reload management after you buy them; they do not prove that a hero’s base weapon is simple.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Active Reload

Active Reload costs 1,600 souls. During reloading, you react to a highlighted portion of the reload timing: a successful input completes the reload immediately and grants a short window of increased fire rate, bullet lifesteal and movement speed. That timed reaction can reduce downtime, but it adds a timing task. For someone explicitly seeking uncomplicated reloads, it is an optional skill to learn later, not the reason to select a hero.

The item page reports a 53.8% win rate from 307,130 purchases. Those figures come from the Deadlock API for October 6–12, 2026, as reported on the Active Reload page accessed October 13, 2026. The data covers Normal mode, ranked and unranked, across all ranks. It is an item-level snapshot, not evidence that the item is suitable for new players or that any hero should buy it.

Quicksilver Reload

Quicksilver Reload also costs 1,600 souls, but it attaches to an ability. Using that ability reloads bullets and grants damage and fire-rate effects. You must decide which ability carries the effect and when to spend the charged reload during your firing cycle. That makes it a useful later tool for managing downtime, while still requiring more planning than a passive reload improvement.

Its item page reports a 49.6% win rate from 1,063,709 purchases. The figures use the same October 6–12, 2026 Deadlock API window, Normal mode, ranked and unranked, all ranks, and were reported on the page accessed October 13, 2026. As with Active Reload, they describe item outcomes in aggregate and do not establish a beginner recommendation.

Why these numbers should not decide your first hero

Neither item statistic answers the question “Which hero has the simplest reload?” The figures combine many heroes, skill levels and purchase contexts. Select your hero by weapon feel and decision load first; consider a reload item only after you understand when your ordinary reload leaves you vulnerable.

Why Seven is not included as a recommendation

Seven illustrates why a weapon label alone is not enough. His current hero page lists a Burst Fire weapon with a 29-round magazine and a 2.4-second reload. Those concrete values can help you understand that “simple reload” is not identical to “large magazine” or “rapid fire,” but Seven is an example here rather than a recommendation for this title’s reader.

A burst weapon may feel comfortable to one player and awkward to another because the rhythm between bursts, magazine size and reload duration changes how often you must pause. Without a dedicated, sourced comparison of every hero’s reload behavior, it would be misleading to rank Seven—or anyone else—as objectively easiest.

A small practice plan for your first matches

Keep your starter pool small. Learning one hero deeply enough to recognize safe ranges gives you more attention for movement, map awareness and economy than switching among many kits every match. Begin with Infernus, add Haze if you specifically want stealth, or substitute Abrams if shotgun range feels more intuitive.

Before the match

  • Choose one hero and write a single sentence describing the win condition for your lane: sustained pressure on a reachable target, a controlled stealth angle, or a planned close-range entry.
  • Decide what you will practice first. Aim, reload timing, movement between cover and the wave, and soul collection are separate skills; do not grade all of them at once.
  • Know what would make you leave lane, such as losing your cover, facing multiple opponents or needing to spend souls before the next exchange.

During the lane

  1. Move between cover and the wave instead of standing in one exposed spot while firing.
  2. Track soul pickups deliberately; missed economy makes every later fight harder and can be mistaken for a weapon problem.
  3. Buy with a clear purpose. If you cannot state what a purchase changes in your next engagement, wait until you understand the need.
  4. After each exchange, ask whether you left because the target became unreachable, because your route was unsafe, or because your reload timing was exposed.

After the match

Keep the same hero for enough games to identify a pattern. If Infernus feels easy to fire but difficult to disengage, practice stopping the chase rather than changing heroes immediately. If Haze’s entries fail before the first shot, work on approach routes and exits. If Abrams repeatedly reaches fights but cannot leave them, plan terrain before charging. These adjustments address the actual burden of each kit.

Common beginner mistakes and fixes

Chasing because the weapon is still firing

Rapid Fire weapons encourage tunnel vision. The fix is to define a reachable boundary before the exchange. When the target crosses it, stop firing and preserve your position. Infernus’s pressure is useful only while the target remains safely accessible; Haze’s sustained hits have the same practical limit.

Assuming stealth removes positioning risk

With Haze, invisibility can improve an approach but cannot replace cover, target selection or an exit. If you reveal yourself in a location surrounded by enemies, the stealth window has not solved the underlying route problem.

Charging Abrams without a retreat plan

Abrams’s shotgun and durability reward proximity, but a close-range commitment is difficult to cancel. Identify the wall, corner or path you will use before entering. If there is no credible exit, wait for a better angle instead of treating visibility as an invitation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Buying reload tools too early

Active Reload and Quicksilver Reload can be valuable, yet each introduces a timing or ability-management decision. First learn when your normal reload is unsafe. Then test whether the item solves that specific problem; do not buy it merely because the name sounds related to your preference.

Changing heroes after one poor result

A single loss cannot distinguish a difficult hero from an avoidable decision. Keep a small pool and record the failure mode—aim, route, economy, target selection or reload exposure. Change heroes when the decision burden itself is a poor fit, not simply because the scoreboard was unfavorable.

How current are these recommendations?

The Infernus, Haze, Abrams, Seven, Active Reload and Quicksilver Reload pages displayed current data accessed October 13, 2026, with underlying updates shown around October 11. Deadlock patches can alter weapon behavior, item effects, hero labels and recommended audiences. Check the relevant in-game descriptions and the current reference entry before treating a number or label as permanent.

Deadlock.io identifies itself as unofficial and unaffiliated with Valve. DeadlockHeroes.org is likewise a fan resource, and its difficulty labels are editorial. Use both as practical references rather than official endorsements. The durable part of this guide is the decision framework: pick the weapon rhythm you understand, limit the number of positioning decisions, and practice movement and economy alongside aim.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Final pick

Choose Infernus first if you want the clearest beginner loop for a Rapid Fire weapon: keep shooting a reachable target, maintain pressure, and disengage before the chase becomes unsafe. Choose Haze when stealth and an assassin identity are worth accepting more approach decisions. Choose Abrams when a shotgun and planned close-range commitment feel simpler than sustained fire. None is officially ranked for “simple reloads”; the best match is the hero whose ordinary weapon cycle and positioning demands leave you enough attention to learn the rest of Deadlock.
