Qwixx: quick turns with little downtime
Qwixx is listed for 2–5 players and about 15 minutes. Players use dice results to cross off numbers in sequence on their score sheets. Wargamer highlights that everyone can act during each player’s turn, making it a good candidate when you want a fast game where players stay involved rather than waiting through long individual turns.

Asmodee Canada lists CATAN: The Dice Game for ages 7+, 1–4 players, and 30–45 minutes. Its description features six colorful embossed wooden dice and a scoring map, and presents it as a portable, casual introduction to CATAN. It is a natural option for a small group or solo play that wants familiar CATAN theming in a dice-led format.
Yahtzee: reroll for scoring combinations
In Yahtzee, players roll and reroll five dice, holding some results while trying to meet scoring categories. Wargamer notes that players choose a category after rolling and describes the game as suitable for solo and flexible group play; it does not specify a fixed maximum player count. Pick it if your group enjoys weighing a chance at a better combination against locking in a score.

That’s Pretty Clever: draft a result and watch what you leave behind
Ganz Schön Clever, also known as That’s Pretty Clever, is listed by Wargamer for 1–4 players and about 30 minutes. The choice is not only what to take, but also what useful results opponents may get; expect more concentration than in a light filler.
Trek 12: roll-and-write with solo and campaign modes
Asmodee Canada lists Trek 12 for ages 8+, 1–50 players, and 15–30 minutes. The publisher describes it as a progressive roll-and-write with solo and campaign modes. Its unusually broad listed player range may appeal when you want one title that can be played alone or with a large group, though the published range is not a promise about how every group will experience it.

Troyes Dice: a strategy roll-and-write
Troyes Dice is listed by Asmodee Canada for ages 12+, 1–10 players, and 30–45 minutes. Its description frames it as a strategy roll-and-write in which players develop markets, build cathedrals, and contend with events. Choose it when those themed objectives and a more considered sheet-based puzzle sound more appealing than a simple race to score combinations.
Theme, bluffing, and party variety
King of Tokyo: push your luck in a monster battle
Wargamer lists King of Tokyo for ages 8+, 2–6 players, and about 30 minutes. Players roll dice toward several competing aims: attacking, healing, gaining energy, or scoring points. The article describes up to three rolls, with players able to keep dice between them. That mix makes the dice part of a themed tactical turn, not just a way to fill a score sheet.

Liar’s Dice (Perudo): bluff with hidden results
Listed for 2–6 players and 15–30 minutes, Liar’s Dice, also called Perudo, centers on dice kept hidden from the rest of the group. Players bid on the total showing across everyone’s dice; a challenge reveals the results and determines who loses a die. It is the clearest pick here if your group wants reading opponents and calling bluffs rather than chasing a personal score.
Boggle: a timed word-search challenge
Boggle is listed for 1–8 players and around 10 minutes. Players search for words among 16 letter dice against a timer. It works best for people comfortable with vocabulary and spelling, so consider that requirement when choosing a game for a mixed-age or mixed-confidence group.

Rory’s Story Cubes: turn symbols into stories
Asmodee Canada lists Rory’s Story Cubes for ages 6+, 1–12 players, and under 15 minutes. Players roll symbol-bearing cubes and interpret them to create stories. The publisher says it was primarily designed for children but can be enjoyed by all ages. Choose it when imagination and shared storytelling matter more than competing for a score.
