For base Yui (Bui), build around Electric follow-up damage: have her use Sparky Surprise (Skill 3) on an ally who uses skills often, then follow with Electric Bomb (Skill 1). Keep enemies Shocked when possible, and treat Yui as a follow-up sub-DPS rather than a dependable solo carry. This guide is about base Yui, not the separate Nuclear Assassin variant Cosmic Yui.
How to build and play base Yui
Yui’s value comes from supporting an ally’s attacks with follow-ups. Her activation can vary, so the number and reliability of allied skill uses matter: pair her with a frequent skill user and let that character drive damage while Yui adds Electric pressure. The specialist guide likewise recommends her more as a sub-DPS than as the party’s dedicated main damage dealer. Prydwen’s Bui guide describes the relevant skills and build recommendations.
Recommended rotation
- Use Sparky Surprise (Skill 3) on your main damage dealer or another ally who uses skills frequently.
- Follow with Electric Bomb (Skill 1).
- Continue using the ally’s skills to create opportunities for Yui’s follow-up attacks.
This is the guide’s recommended sequence, not a guarantee that every allied action will trigger a follow-up. Yui’s follow-up output is variable.
Prioritize Shock
Shock is an important damage enabler: official character information and Prydwen’s passive description say Yui deals increased follow-up damage to Shocked foes. If your team can apply Shock reliably, Yui has more opportunities to benefit from that bonus. The official base-Yui notice also describes her as a single-target attacker whose follow-ups are strengthened by Player 2 designation, Highlight, and Shock. Its banner dates—October 30 to November 13, 2025 UTC—are historical, not current availability information. Official base-Yui event notice
Cards and stat priorities
Prydwen recommends a Renewal card setup with Attack on Moon and Sky, and Crit Rate on Star. Its listed substat priority is:
#1 Best Overall
- Authentic collectible enamel pins featuring your favorite Phantom Thieves characters, manufactured by Zen Monkey Studios. ATLUS SEGA
- Every bag contains one surprise hard enamel pin. Will you pull Joker, Ryuji, Ann, Yusuke, or Morgana — or land the rare Antique Gold Joker (7%) or ultra-rare Glitter Joker (3%)?
- With 7 possible pulls across a wide rarity range, this series is built for collectors who love the chase. Gotta pull them all.
- Each hard enamel pin measures approximately 2.25 inches tall. Vibrant colors, clean lines, and durable construction worthy of display or everyday wear
- Ideal for birthdays, holidays, or any occasion. A guaranteed hit for Persona 5, JRPG, and anime fans ages 9+.
- Crit Mult.
- Pierce
- Crit Rate
- Attack
At Awareness 1, the guide recommends Crit Mult. on Star instead of adding more Crit Rate. This is a third-party build recommendation, not an official developer rule. Prydwen notes that its skill information was translated from Chinese and gives skill values at level 10; check the in-game skill text for your server and version if exact wording or values matter.
Which weapon should you use?
| Weapon | What it offers | When to consider it |
|---|---|---|
| Cyber Jammers (5-star exclusive) | Crit Rate and follow-up damage, with a conditional bonus. | Consider it if you have it and its condition fits your team and encounter. Its bonus is not universally valuable; Prydwen cautions that it can perform worse than the 4-star option in some scenarios. |
| Meta Directors (4-star) | A named 4-star option for base Yui. | A practical alternative, especially if you already own it and would otherwise need to invest in or pursue Cyber Jammers. |
Cyber Jammers is not an automatic must-pull: weigh its conditional follow-up benefit against acquisition and investment, the fight’s conditions, and whether Meta Directors is already available to you. Prydwen’s weapon recommendations

Team choices: frequent skills and Shock support
Prydwen lists BUI + Closer + Soy + Okyann as a team example, along with a Joker variant. Joker’s extra action can create additional opportunities for follow-ups. Treat these as examples rather than mandatory team slots; the central question is whether your allies use skills often enough and whether the lineup can support Shock.
Wonder Persona options
- Yurlungur or Thor: suggested options for Shock or Electric support.
- Norn or Janosik: suggested options for Defense Down.
Choose around the encounter: prioritize Shock support when it is the practical way to amplify Yui’s follow-ups, or Defense Down when that better serves your team’s damage plan.

Base Yui is not Cosmic Yui
Cosmic Yui is a separate 5-star Nuclear Assassin, not an alternate name for base Yui (Bui). Her role and exclusive weapons are different, and the two versions cannot equip each other’s exclusive weapons. The official Cosmic Yui notice, published September 9, 2026, announced an event period from September 9, 2026 through 1:59 AM October 15 UTC; it also warns that event details and duration can change, so check in-game availability rather than relying on an old banner date.
