Start with ASTRO’s Playroom if you haven’t played it: it is the closest direct follow-up to ASTRO BOT in character, world and controller lineage, and PlayStation describes it as an earlier Astro adventure. After that, choose by what you enjoyed most: another colorful PlayStation platformer, a more action-focused adventure, or a 3D platformer on Nintendo Switch.
What makes a game feel like Astro Bot?
ASTRO BOT combines playful 3D platforming, varied settings, powers, exploration and collectibles with PlayStation nostalgia and DualSense effects. PlayStation describes it as a standalone, full-sized, single-player adventure exclusive to PS5. The PlayStation Store listing also notes DualSense vibration and trigger effects.

The official descriptions use several different scale counts: PlayStation’s FAQ says the game has 300 bots to rescue and over four times as many worlds as ASTRO’s Playroom; the store description says it explores more than 50 planets; and Team Asobi’s 2024 announcement described six galaxies and over 80 levels. These labels count different things and should not be treated as interchangeable. Team Asobi also described over 15 new abilities and over 70 new enemy types in that announcement.
For the official game details, see PlayStation’s ASTRO BOT page, its US PlayStation Store listing, and Team Asobi’s May 30, 2024 announcement.

Best games to play after Astro Bot
1. ASTRO’s Playroom — the closest direct follow-up
If it is not already in your library, start here. PlayStation identifies ASTRO’s Playroom as an earlier Astro adventure and contrasts it with the expanded, full-sized ASTRO BOT. It is the nearest match for Astro’s characters, world and use of the PlayStation controller, and PlayStation says it is free on PS5. Get the details on PlayStation’s ASTRO BOT page.
2. Sackboy: A Big Adventure — another colorful PlayStation platformer
Choose Sackboy: A Big Adventure if you want another bright, character-led platform game on PlayStation. It is available for PS5 and PS4, according to PlayStation’s game page. It is an adjacent recommendation, not a promise of the same single-player structure or distinctive controller implementation as ASTRO BOT.

- 50 Exciting Levels: Explore iconic locations from the Dog Man universe, including the City Hall, Giant Marshmallow Factory, and the Police Station. Each location offers platforming and puzzle-solving challenges.
- Teamwork: Switch between Dog Man and his Supa Buddies, each with their own special abilities, to overcome obstacles and defeat bosses. o Dog Man: Digs underground and glides through the air. o Li’l Petey: Hacks gadgets and fits into small spaces. o 80-HD: Pushes heavy objects and jumps long distances.
- Fun Gadgets: Unlock new gadgets and abilities as you progress, like a grappling hook, rocket boots and power gloves to navigate through the levels. Puzzles and Bosses: Use your brain to solve puzzles and defeat unique bosses. Each boss fight requires clever use of your team’s abilities.
- Humor and Action: Enjoy funny dialogue, amusing interactions, and non-stop action that keeps you engaged in Dog Man’s world. Rewards and Collectibles: Revisit levels with new gadgets to find secret areas, and rescue the missing Comic Club members.
- Art Style: Great animations inspired by the books, with comic-style sound effects that add a fun, cartoonish touch to the action.
3. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart — for more action
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a PS5 adventure to consider if you liked ASTRO BOT’s polish and playful characters but want a stronger action focus. It is a broader match than a platforming-first substitute. See PlayStation’s official page.
4. Super Mario Odyssey — for Switch 3D platforming and exploration
If you own a Nintendo Switch, Super Mario Odyssey is a strong genre alternative: Nintendo describes it as a 3D Mario adventure. It offers a different cast and mechanics, rather than an Astro-like PlayStation experience. Check Nintendo’s Switch listing.

5. Kirby and the Forgotten Land — for a colorful Switch adventure
Kirby and the Forgotten Land is another Switch option for players drawn to colorful 3D environments. Its Kirby-specific mechanics make it its own kind of adventure rather than a direct ASTRO BOT counterpart. See Nintendo’s Switch listing.

There is no single alternative that duplicates every part of ASTRO BOT. As a practical choice, pick ASTRO’s Playroom for the closest match; Sackboy for another PlayStation platformer; Ratchet & Clank for more action; or a Mario or Kirby game if you have Switch and want a different 3D platforming adventure. The comparisons describe their broad focus, not a definitive difficulty ranking.
