Best Buy says nearly all of its U.S. stores will open late for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on launch night. The game is scheduled for Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026; the opening is at midnight Eastern Time, with earlier local evening times on November 4 in other U.S. time zones. Check Best Buy’s store locator to confirm whether your location is participating.
When does Best Buy’s Ocarina of Time midnight release start?
Best Buy’s October 8, 2026 announcement sets the opening for midnight Eastern Time on November 5. Because the opening falls on the previous evening in other U.S. time zones, the announced local times are:

These are the times Best Buy announced for the late-night opening, not a guarantee that every store will take part. The company says “nearly all” U.S. stores will open; confirm your location using its store locator.
How does launch-night pickup work?
Best Buy says customers with pickup orders may visit during the late-night opening. It also says customers will receive an email with the option to switch to store pickup. Check that message and your order details for the available pickup arrangements rather than assuming your original order is automatically assigned to a participating store.

Best Buy says a limited number of copies of the game, the Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Nintendo Switch 2 system, and its matching Pro Controller will be available in stores. Stock is limited and may change, so an announced opening does not guarantee an item will remain available when you arrive.
What is launching, and which console do you need?
Nintendo lists The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for November 5, 2026, as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive. The release is a remake of the 1998 game, not a new title available across multiple platforms. Nintendo’s U.S. product page lists a physical edition as well as the game’s Switch 2 platform and release date: Nintendo’s U.S. product listing.

Nintendo says the first print run of the physical edition will have special packaging with textured foil cover art, while supplies last. That packaging detail applies to the first print run; it should not be taken as a promise that every physical copy will have it.

What changes does the remake add?
Nintendo has announced a substantial presentation and control update. These are publisher-announced features, not findings from a hands-on review.

Nintendo’s announcement also covers other Zelda anniversary products and features, but they are not requirements for playing the remake. In particular, the announced ocarinas are optional instruments, not launch-night equipment needed for the game.
