Civilization VII Arcade Edition launched on Apple Arcade on February 5, 2026. Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition launched on Apple Arcade on August 6, 2026. It is available on iPhone and iPad, as well as Mac, Apple TV and Apple Vision Pro. The edition includes Quick Play, seasons, playoffs and Franchise-style management, and supports controllers.
The important distinction is timing and identity. EA’s console and PC version of Madden NFL 27 launched on August 13, 2026, while the Apple Arcade edition arrived a week earlier. The Apple version was designed specifically for Apple Arcade; it is not simply the console or PC release copied unchanged onto an iPhone.

Why are there only two games?
Because “ported in 2026” is narrower than “available on iPhone and iPad in 2026.” A game released for iPhone several years ago remains available in 2026, but that does not make it a 2026 port. A game announced during 2026 is not necessarily released during 2026 either.
That distinction excludes major games such as Death Stranding Director’s Cut, Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil Village, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Control Ultimate Edition, Divinity: Original Sin 2, XCOM 2, Company of Heroes, several Total War games and Red Dead Redemption from the strict ranking. They may be worthwhile iPhone or iPad games, but the available evidence does not establish that their iPhone or iPad versions first launched in 2026.

Native 2026 releases
A native release is an iPhone or iPad game installed and run on the device. The two Apple Arcade editions above qualify as native Apple-device releases, although both are better described as adaptations because feature parity with their PC or console counterparts has not been fully established.
Older premium ports
These are full or substantially complete games that arrived on iPhone or iPad before 2026 and remain available. They belong in a guide to the best console and PC games on iPhone in 2026, but not in a strict list of games ported during 2026.

Steam Link, PlayStation Remote Play, Xbox Cloud Gaming, GeForce NOW and similar services are not ports. They stream a game from a remote server or mirror a game running on a PC or console. They can be useful, but they require a host system, suitable network conditions and continued service access. They also do not provide a native copy of the game on the iPhone or iPad.

Apple’s own gaming coverage distinguishes native games from apps such as Steam Link and Portal. Those apps should not be counted in a port ranking.
Apple Arcade or a standalone purchase?
Apple Arcade makes sense when:
- You already subscribe to Apple Arcade or Apple One.
- You expect to play more than one Apple Arcade game.
- You prefer no advertisements or in-app purchases in the included editions.
- You want to share access with a family group; Apple says one subscription can cover up to six people.
A standalone game is preferable when:
- You want permanent access to one title rather than access tied to a subscription.
- You specifically need the full PC or console feature set.
- You do not want recurring billing.
- The Apple Arcade catalogue or edition is unavailable in your region.
Apple Arcade pricing and availability can vary by country. Apple’s U.S. pricing signal in the supplied 2026 announcements was $6.99 per month, with a one-month free trial, but readers should confirm the current price on Apple’s official page before subscribing. Apple One may be better value for someone already using its other services, not for someone subscribing only to play one game.
