There is no single best Counter-Strike 2 settings preset for every PC. Start with your monitor’s native resolution and highest supported refresh rate, then adjust graphics and latency options one at a time while checking how the game performs in real matches. The settings below are practical starting points—not Valve requirements or guaranteed FPS gains.
Start with display settings
Resolution and display mode
Use your monitor’s native resolution as a baseline. If CS2 cannot sustain the performance you want, try a lower resolution and compare it in representative play; the available evidence does not establish a fixed FPS increase for a particular change. A third-party settings guide recommends fullscreen and the display’s native refresh rate, while a September 2026 summary of Valve’s documentation says windowed modes may take refresh settings from the operating system. ProSettings’ CS2 guide and NeuralBoost’s summary of Valve documentation offer starting points, not universal rules.
Refresh rate
Set the display to its highest supported refresh rate. Valve’s June 2024 release notes are quoted by NeuralBoost as saying, “Higher refresh rates result in smoother-looking motion.” A higher-refresh display can make motion appear smoother when the PC is producing frames at a useful rate, but it does not make the PC render more frames. Consider a high refresh rate monitor only if your current display limits the motion you can see and your PC can supply frames to take advantage of it.
Stretched resolution
Treat stretched resolution as a preference, not a proven competitive advantage. The reviewed Valve-documentation summary does not say that it improves aim or hit probability.
#1 Best Overall
- 【INTEGRATED SPEAKERS】Whether you're at work or in the midst of an intense gaming session, our built-in speakers provide rich and seamless audio, all while keeping your desk clutter-free.
- 【EASY ON THE EYES】 Protect your eyes and enhance your comfort with Blue-Light Shift technology. This feature reduces harmful blue light emissions from your screen, helping to alleviate eye strain during long hours of use and promoting healthier viewing habits.
- 【WIDEN YOUR PERSPECTIVE】Our sleek minimal bezel design ensures undivided attention. The nearly bezel-free display seamlessly connects in a dual monitor arrangement, delivering an unobstructed view that lets you focus on more at once, completely distraction-free.
Try a competitive-oriented graphics baseline
ProSettings’ September 2026 guide recommends the following combination. It is one third-party recommendation that balances visibility, image quality, and performance; it is not an official Valve preset or a guaranteed optimum.
| Setting | Suggested starting value |
|---|---|
| Global Shadow Quality | Low |
| Dynamic Shadows | All |
| Model / Texture Detail | Medium |
| Texture Filtering Mode | Anisotropic 4x |
| Shader Detail | Low |
| Particle Detail | Low |
| Ambient Occlusion | Disabled |
| High Dynamic Range (HDR) | Quality |
| FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) | Disabled |
| Anti-aliasing | CMAA2 |
These options involve trade-offs rather than a universal quality-versus-FPS formula. If an image looks too soft, distracting, or difficult to read, change the relevant option and test again. ProSettings explains its recommendations, but the guide does not establish controlled FPS gains across different PCs.

- QHD Resolution (2560 x 1440) has 1.7 times the pixel density of Full HD for incredibly detailed pinsharp images
- HDR10 provides brighter highlights and nuanced shadow for added depth - making every scene feel more vivid and realistic
- The 180Hz refresh rate minimizes lag for gameplay with ultra-smooth action. Plus, the 1ms response time helps capture your moves in real-time, allowing you to react fast for gaming precision
- AMD FreeSync reduces choppiness, screen lag and image tearing, ensuring that your fast-paced, complex in-game action is stable with minimal stutter
- Ergonomic stand allows for tilt, pivot and height adjustments to maximize gaming comfort
Choose sync and latency options for your setup
NVIDIA Reflex
NVIDIA says Reflex synchronizes CPU and GPU work to reduce rendering-pipeline stalls, with the greatest effectiveness when a system is GPU-bound. NVIDIA reports up to 35% lower system latency on compatible graphics cards; that is a vendor-reported maximum, not a result every player should expect. See NVIDIA’s CS2 Reflex guidance.
Compare Reflex Enabled with Enabled + Boost rather than assuming Boost is always preferable. NVIDIA says Enabled + Boost can use more power and slightly reduce frame rate, so Enabled may be worth comparing if you are already near your desired FPS.

- Smooth motion: 240Hz refresh rate and fast 0.5ms response time provide crisp visuals and fluid movement with less input lag.
- Seamless gaming: FreeSync Premium and HDMI VRR eliminate tearing for smooth, responsive PC and console gameplay.
- Fast IPS: Faster 0.5ms response with excellent color accuracy across wide IPS viewing angles.
- Rich color: 99% sRGB color coverage delivers vivid, detailed imagery with strong accuracy.
- Eye comfort: TÜV Rheinland 3‑star certified display lowers blue light while preserving color quality.
G-Sync and FreeSync
NeuralBoost’s summary of Valve’s guidance says adaptive sync—G-Sync or FreeSync—can smooth motion when FPS does not consistently reach the display’s refresh rate. For NVIDIA G-Sync setups, the summary reports Valve recommends V-Sync, G-Sync, and Reflex together, with FPS limited slightly below monitor refresh. The reviewed source does not establish an equivalent V-Sync and latency pairing for FreeSync, so do not assume the G-Sync recommendation transfers unchanged.
Measure changes in real play
- Show the in-game performance display: use the Telemetry HUD option in CS2 to display FPS and network conditions. ProSettings lists the Telemetry HUD path in its settings guide; the built-in HUD is also identified in NeuralBoost’s summary.
- Record a baseline: note FPS and how responsive the game feels using your normal resolution, refresh rate, and graphics settings.
- Change one setting at a time: play comparable situations, including busy scenes, before deciding whether a change helped.
- Prioritize consistency and response: a high peak FPS number alone does not show whether frame delivery or input response improved.
NVIDIA describes PC latency as cumulative delay across input devices, PC processing, and display response. It identifies overlays, Reflex Analyzer, and FrameView as ways to measure latency, although available tools depend on your hardware. These are NVIDIA’s vendor recommendations; they do not replace testing the settings that matter on your own system.

What the evidence can—and cannot—tell you
Valve’s published recommendations, as summarized by NeuralBoost, do not specify a universal graphics-quality preset, resolution, anti-aliasing choice, or FPS cap. Pro player settings and third-party guides can help you choose a first configuration, but they do not prove that one setup is best for all players. The reviewed sources also do not provide controlled benchmarks across current CPUs, GPUs, maps, and settings, so measure your own system rather than expecting a particular FPS gain from a preset.
