What to check before choosing another model
- Confirm the exact SKU. Similar names can refer to different variants, and software support tables can assign different features to individual devices. 8BitDo’s Ultimate Software V2 page lists customization support by device rather than guaranteeing every feature across the family: Ultimate Software V2 support.
- Check where the RGB is. Look for an exact-model description of the lighting zones and controls. The Ultimate 3E page specifies joystick Fire Rings; do not infer that other products have RGB from the brand or product-family name.
- Count the controls you can remap. Check whether the manufacturer identifies back buttons, extra bumpers, or other programmable inputs, and whether mappings are stored in software, onboard profiles, or both.
- Match the connection to your PC setup. Check operating-system support and the specific connection mode you intend to use. “Wireless” or “Xbox” in a product name does not by itself establish support for every PC configuration.

- Start with the exact model name and regional listing. Confirm the US SKU matches the manufacturer page; do not transfer features from a similarly named variant.
- Verify the complete feature set on that model’s official page. Find explicit PC compatibility, button-remapping details, and RGB-lighting details—not just broad claims about customization.
- Check the software and profile behavior. Determine whether configuration requires a companion app, whether profiles can be stored onboard, and which functions are supported for that exact device.
