This is a dated editorial ranking, not an official Ubisoft order or a ranking derived from published win rates. Noor is a strong situational alternative, especially when a lineup needs a shield counter.
Best defenders in Siege X, ranked by tier
A tier list is more useful here than assigning a supposedly precise first-to-eighth order: the strongest choice depends on the site, opposing lineup, and the job a team still needs to fill. The placements below reflect a September 2026 editorial ranking for Y11S3, which weighs gadget utility, map flexibility, weapon quality, and ranked consistency. They are the source author’s judgment, not Ubisoft’s or a statistical leaderboard. See the Y11S3 tier list.
Leading tier: Azami, Kaid, Mute, Smoke, Jäger, Mira, Fenrir, and Denari
These eight are the season’s leading defenders according to that editorial list. The available evidence supports their tier placement, but does not provide enough current operator-specific detail to responsibly compare their gadgets, weapons, or map matchups one by one. Treat them as a shortlist rather than a fixed lineup: choose among them based on which defensive role your site and team need covered.
Situational alternative: Noor
Noor is listed in A tier and has a defined counter-pick role. Ubisoft describes the new Y11S3 Defender as a shield counter: her Horus Lance attaches to ballistic shields or surfaces before emitting flames. That makes her a candidate when the opposing lineup relies on shields, rather than a universal replacement for the leading tier. Ubisoft’s Operation Split Fire overview.

How to choose from the leading tier
Use the tier as a starting point, then check whether an operator fits the round you expect to play. The ranking’s stated criteria offer a practical comparison framework:
- Gadget utility: Does the operator bring a useful defensive tool to the plan?
- Map flexibility: Can the pick contribute across the sites or situations your team is likely to face?
- Weapon quality: Does the operator’s weapon option suit your ability to take fights? The cited ranking considers this, but does not publish comparative weapon statistics.
- Ranked consistency: Is the pick useful across ordinary ranked rounds, rather than only in a narrow setup?
- Team dependence: Does the choice need coordinated setup or a particular lineup to deliver value?
- Lineup coverage: Does the team already have the job covered, or is this pick filling a real gap?
Because the evidence does not establish a measured win-rate or pick-rate advantage for any of these operators, do not read the tiers as proof that one will raise a player’s results. The best choice for a round is the one that fits the map, opponent, and team plan.

What the latest Y11S3 patch changes mean
Operation Split Fire launched on September 1, 2026 as Year 11 Season 3. Ubisoft’s Y11S3.1 notes, dated September 22, describe the operator changes as refinements rather than a shift in overall power or flexibility. The listed adjustments are relevant context, but the notes do not establish a new defender ranking. Season overview · Y11S3.1 patch notes.
| Operator | Y11S3.1 adjustment | What it establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Castle | Armor Panel takes 10 melee hits to destroy, up from 9. | A specific durability change; not evidence of a revised tier placement. |
| Fenrir | F-NATT gas reaches maximum range in 1.9 seconds, down from 2 seconds. | A specific timing adjustment; not a comparative performance statistic. |
| Maestro | Evil Eye battery life increased to 9 seconds from 8. | A specific battery-life adjustment; the notes do not rank Maestro against other defenders. |

How firm is this ranking?
The season and patch details come from Ubisoft, while the tier placements come from one third-party editorial list. That list describes its method as opinion based on operator utility and related criteria, rather than raw win-rate data. No official defender win-rate or pick-rate table is established by these sources, so there is no basis here for presenting the tiers as measured competitive performance or a universal order.
The list is specific to Y11S3 and can become stale when Ubisoft issues a new season or operator balance update. Recheck it after those changes, particularly if they alter an operator’s tools or role.
