There are 120 recruitable characters in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. Some join automatically as the story advances; the rest require optional exploration, conversations, quests, battles, levels, or items. Recruitment is easiest to manage in story order, with special attention to two late-game risks: recruit Aleior as soon as its route is available, and get every other character before the late Dux battlefield event if you want Leene.

Spoiler warning: The checklist below is spoiler-light and limited to general recruitment advice. A complete name-by-name route necessarily reveals characters and story progression, so those details are kept in the expandable section.

How recruitment works

Gamer Guides counts 120 recruitable characters and says 46 join as part of the main story; the remaining characters require optional recruitment. The 46 figure is the guide’s count, not a publisher statistic. Recruitment methods vary: some heroes join automatically, while others require reaching a location, choosing dialogue, completing a quest or battle, meeting a level requirement, or bringing a specific item. A character who appears or travels with the party temporarily may not yet have officially joined. Gamer Guides’ recruitment list and RPG Site’s recruitment guide organize these distinctions by story availability.

Spoiler-light recruitment checklist

  • Recruit optional characters when you first encounter them instead of assuming you can return later.
  • Check new towns and regions for recruitable characters, and follow up on new dialogue, quests, battle challenges, and requests for items or party members.
  • When someone joins temporarily during a story sequence, check whether the game has recorded them as recruited before treating that character as secured.
  • Prioritize Aleior as soon as its side-quest route opens. Its precise cutoff on current versions is not settled by the available official patch notes.
  • Before the late-game Dux battlefield event, verify that the other 119 characters are recruited if you want Leene.

Missable recruitment risks

Aleior: recruit early, but note the patch uncertainty

100% Guides warns that progressing after Marisa moves can lock out Aleior’s side quest. RPG Site’s launch-era guide also discusses characters that could become permanently missable because of bugs, while anticipating that patches might change that behavior. On July 22, 2024, 505 Games announced the DAY60 Patch for all platforms, describing broad functionality and stability improvements; the notes do not identify an Aleior fix. The published information therefore does not establish whether Aleior remains missable on every current platform or build. The practical precaution is to complete Aleior’s route as soon as it becomes available rather than relying on a later return. 100% Guides’ all-character walkthrough · RPG Site’s recruitment guide · 505 Games’ DAY60 Patch notes.

Leene: the late-game roster check

Leene joins only if the other 119 characters have been recruited before the late Dux battlefield event, according to 100% Guides. Gamer Guides describes the corresponding requirement as recruiting the other characters before the late War battle at headquarters. Treat this as a hard roster check: do not enter that late-game battle expecting to fill gaps afterward.

Full recruitment route by story availability

Full roster spoilers below. Character names and story milestones reveal progression. For an exact character-by-character route—including locations and individual prerequisites—use the story-ordered guides below. Their entries distinguish automatic story joins from optional recruits and identify availability and temporary-join details; the wiki also flags extra story requirements.

Follow the route from the first available recruitment opportunities through headquarters access and later regions, then make a final sweep before the Dux battlefield event. This ordering helps distinguish a character who is simply not available yet from one whose opportunity is time-sensitive.

  • Our story begins in one corner of Allraan, a tapestry of nations with diverse cultures and values.
