For a practical starting point, choose a resolution your GPU can sustain, turn ray tracing off, and lower resource-intensive effects and shadows before sacrificing textures. The right balance depends on your hardware—and Dragon’s Dogma 2 can behave differently in CPU-heavy Vernworth than it does in the open world. The detailed PC settings guidance available here was tested in 2024; Capcom’s reported September 2026 update revised PC requirements and improved performance, but there are no post-update PC settings benchmarks in the sources cited below.
Start with a settings tier that matches your PC
PC Gamer’s March 22, 2024 guide tested three hardware tiers and suggested different resolutions and settings for each. Its expected frame rates are estimates from those test configurations, not guarantees for the current game build or other PCs.

These are PC Gamer’s recommendations and expected ranges from its March 2024 testing, not new measurements after Title Update 3.2. The guide noted that it did not have a particularly powerful GPU available for its high-end test. See PC Gamer’s settings guide and its settings table.
Low-end: favor a stable 1080p starting point
Use the low-end tier as a starting point if your system is closer to the RX 6600 test PC. Lowering mesh quality, effects, and shadows can reduce GPU load while leaving the resolution at 1080p. If frame delivery feels uneven, PC Gamer suggests trying a 60 fps cap; a cap may make play feel smoother but does not increase the PC’s performance.

Mid-range: try 1440p, then tune costly effects
For a GPU around the RTX 4070 test system, the guide’s mid-range settings provide a 1440p baseline with high mesh and effects quality. If performance falls short, reduce Resource-Intensive Effects Quality or shadow quality before jumping to a more aggressive upscaling mode.
High-end: treat 4K as an option, not a promise
The high-end recommendation targets 4K on an RTX 4070 Ti test system, with high or maximum quality in several settings. PC Gamer cautions that the test did not use a particularly powerful GPU, so the listed 70–90 fps range should not be treated as a guaranteed result on comparable hardware, especially after the game update.

Why Vernworth can run worse than the open world
PC Gamer’s 2024 guide describes Vernworth as CPU-limited: lowering graphics quality may have relatively little effect on frame rate there because the CPU is the constraint. In outdoor areas, the GPU has more influence, so reducing resolution, Resource-Intensive Effects Quality, or shadow quality may help more. This is a useful way to diagnose inconsistent performance, but it reflects the guide’s pre-update testing rather than a confirmed post-update benchmark.
When tuning, compare the same location and activity after each change. If reducing GPU-heavy options helps outside the city but barely changes Vernworth, that points toward different bottlenecks rather than one setting behaving unpredictably.

Which settings to change first
Resolution and upscaling
Resolution is one of the most important graphics-performance controls in PC Gamer’s guide. Start at 1080p, 1440p, or 4K according to what your GPU can sustain rather than selecting the highest resolution by default. The guide cautions against 4K on mid-range GPUs.
If you use DLSS Super Resolution or FSR 3, compare image quality at the same resolution. PC Gamer warns that Performance and Ultra Performance upscaling modes can noticeably harm image quality at 1080p. Without upscaling, the guide recommends FXAA+TAA to reduce visibly jagged vegetation.

Resource-Intensive Effects Quality and shadows
Resource-Intensive Effects Quality covers smoke, flame, and air effects and can add GPU load. Shadow Quality has a noticeable visual and performance impact, particularly in the open world. Lower these selectively if outdoor frame rates are the problem; PC Gamer’s low-end tier uses low effects and medium shadows, while its mid-range tier keeps high effects and medium shadows.
Textures and the VRAM counter
Use the in-game VRAM counter when choosing texture quality. PC Gamer recommends using the highest texture setting that does not turn the counter red, and lowering texture quality first if you encounter stuttering. Texture changes are a targeted response to memory pressure, not a universal first step for low frame rates.

Ray tracing, dynamic resolution, and other options
PC Gamer recommends ray tracing off and Dynamic Resolution off. The guide describes ray tracing’s visual effect as subtle and dependent on the GPU, and reports that Dynamic Resolution did not meaningfully help low-end systems in its testing. These are the author’s 2024 recommendations, not official Capcom guidance.
For the remaining shared settings, the guide recommends Interlaced Rendering Mode, Standard Image Quality, FXAA+TAA anti-aliasing, Shadow Cache on, High Motion Quality, and Motion Blur, Depth of Field, Lens Distortion, and Subsurface Scattering off. Bloom and Lens Flare are presented as preference choices with little performance impact.

Capcom’s Steam FAQ lists the following system requirements and estimates. The FAQ revision date is not clear, and Windows Central reported that Capcom revised the PC requirements with Title Update 3.2 on September 2, 2026. Check the current Capcom Steam FAQ and the game’s current Steam listing before relying on these figures.

Capcom’s FAQ says onboard graphics and mobile GPUs are not guaranteed to operate normally. It also says an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 6800 is necessary for ray-tracing features. These are FAQ statements whose revision date was not established; they should not be treated as a definitive summary of the post-update requirements.
