What a tactics code imports
EA’s FC IQ deep dive says a tactic’s automatically generated, 11-digit share code represents its formation, build-up style, defensive approach, and selected player roles and focuses; the tactic name is not included. EA says codes are designed to work across modes, consoles, and generations.
Importing a code loads a configuration, not a promise of results. Player roles matter: PCGamesN advises matching players to their assigned roles, and says the in-game preview shows the formation, build-up, defensive approach, and player tactics. Review that preview before using the setup in a match.

How to choose a code for your squad
- Start with the formation. Decide whether the shape suits how you want to attack and defend; the examples above include 4-2-2-2, 4-2-3-1, 4-3-2-1, and 4-4-1-1.
- Check the tactical approach. Build-up style and defensive approach are part of the imported tactic. Compare those settings with how you want the team to move and defend.
- Inspect roles and focuses. Make sure your players can perform the roles assigned to their positions. Adjust the setup if your squad does not fit it.
- Use the source and date as context. A guide recommendation and an EA-published competitor tactic are different kinds of evidence. The listed creator guide was updated September 22, 2025; its recommendations should not be read as a verified current competitive meta.
How to import a tactics code
General Custom Tactics route
- Open the Custom Tactics menu and select Import Tactic.
- Enter the code. EA describes the code as 11 digits, while published examples may contain letters and punctuation; copy the full string exactly.
- Open the tactic preview and review the formation, build-up style, defensive approach, roles, and focuses before applying it.
Ultimate Team route

Community requests for codes that have been “consistently good” are anecdotal, not evidence of repeatable performance.
