Best fits by use case: choose Creative Mode for cooperative building, Global XP Share when players split up, EMBER for configurable stability and balance tweaks, Dedicated Server Allow-list for private-server access control, and Player PVP only if your group accepts an experimental change to Enshrouded’s combat rules.
Enshrouded’s mod scene remains unofficial and sensitive to game revisions. A GameServersKings guide updated September 28, 2026 reported 104 Nexus mods, but also confirmed there was still no official mod support, Steam Workshop, or dedicated-server plugin framework. Treat the recommendations below as use-case matches rather than popularity rankings, verify each listing against your exact game build, and back up worlds and saves before changing files.

Enshrouded was built for cooperative play, but its mod ecosystem is community-maintained. Keen Games’ official FAQ, dated January 21, 2026, says: “We have specifically made a game that can be played in single player, but truly shines when played with friends.” The same FAQ said the studio could not promise that the game would be moddable while expressing interest in supporting that possibility in the future. That is historical developer context, not a promise of an official mod platform.
The more recent September 28, 2026 server guide is the practical baseline: there is no official mod support, no Steam Workshop, and no plugin framework for the dedicated server. Community projects therefore use different approaches, including client files, save-based tools, loaders, patches, and server configuration. Two mods with similar goals may have completely different installation scopes.

Check native server settings first
Some changes people seek from mods—enemy damage, item durability, Shroud timers, and gathering rates—may already be adjustable in Enshrouded’s server settings. A native setting is usually easier for a mixed-skill group because nobody has to install a client modification and there is less to re-check after a game update. Compare the setting you want with the mod’s stated effect before adding another compatibility dependency.
Back up before touching a save or server
Make a copy of your world and save files while the game and server are stopped. Keep the original copy outside the folders you plan to modify, and label it with the date and game build. If the mod listing describes a save conversion, patch, or one-way change, assume rollback requires restoring that backup rather than simply deleting the mod.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsMatch the exact game build
Read the mod page immediately before installation. A listing can be functional on one Enshrouded revision and fail on the next, even when the mod’s purpose has not changed. Every friend should report the same game version, and the dedicated server should be updated or held back deliberately rather than drifting to a different revision.
Best-fit comparison for a friend group
| Mod | Multiplayer scope | Does every player install it? | Gameplay impact | Dedicated-server support | Update sensitivity | Rollback or backup need |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Creative Mode | Client plus hosted world or server | Only players who want the creative menu or flight need the client files | Building, spawning or creative tools, and flight as provided by the listing | Yes, when the server runs its server files | High; verify after every game update | Back up saves before installation |
| Global XP Share | Server/world gameplay effect | Confirm the listing’s current client/server requirement for your setup | An XP-granting action gives equivalent XP to everyone on the server | Check the current listing before deployment | Revision-sensitive | Back up the world before testing |
| EMBER | Configurable client/server toolkit | Depends on the individual feature and current release | Stability, safety, debugging, and balance-oriented tweaks | Designed with client/server concerns in mind; not a guaranteed compatibility layer | High because it touches multiple systems | Use a separate test copy and retain a clean backup |
| Dedicated Server Allow-list | Dedicated-server configuration | No client install is implied for the access list itself | Controls which accounts can join a private server | Yes; this is its intended scope | Depends on server changes and game revisions | Back up server configuration and world files |
| Player PVP | Combat patch affecting players in the same session | Follow the current listing’s client/server instructions | Weapons and skills can hit other players | Verify current server support before inviting a group | Very high; explicitly experimental | Use a separate world or a restorable backup |
The table describes the projects’ stated roles, not a guarantee that they work on the latest build. “Best” here means the clearest fit for a particular group problem; no independent download, review, engagement, or performance figures establish a popularity ranking.

Creative Mode: the clearest cooperative-building pick
Creative Mode is the strongest first choice for a group whose main frustration is gathering materials, testing a design, or reaching a hard-to-build location. Its Nexus listing says it works in your own world when you host and on dedicated servers that run the mod. The same listing explains that friends who want the creative menu and flight install the mod in their own game; a host does not have to make every guest install it merely to join.
How multiplayer installation is divided
- Players: each person who wants the creative menu or flight installs the client files using the listing’s current instructions.
- Hosted world: the host runs the mod in the world they create. Guests without the client files can still join if they do not need the creative features, subject to the listing’s current compatibility notes.
- Dedicated server: install the server files on the dedicated server as well as client files for players who want the tools. The listing specifically identifies dedicated-server operation when its server component is present.
A safe group workflow
- Stop the game or server and copy the world and save files to a separate backup location.
- Read the Creative Mode listing’s requirements and supported game version; do not substitute an older archive because its filename looks familiar.
- Install the client component only for players who want creative controls.
- If using a dedicated server, install the server component exactly as documented, then start the server without inviting the whole group.
- Test flight, the creative menu, joining, leaving, and ordinary survival play on a disposable copy or backup.
- Record the installed version so every player can reproduce the setup after a patch.
What can go wrong
A game update can disable the menu, flight, or server handshake without damaging the save itself. If the world fails to load, stop testing on the original, restore the backup, and wait for the listing to identify a compatible release. Do not assume that removing client files reverses a save-side change.

Global XP Share: keep a split-up party progressing together
Global XP Share addresses a common cooperative mismatch: one player explores, mines, or fights elsewhere while the rest of the group is at the base. Its listing says that an action which grants XP gives the equivalent XP to everyone on the server. That makes it suitable for friends who do not want to stay within the same activity or location to remain level-aligned.
When it is a good fit
- Your party regularly separates to pursue different objectives.
- You want shared progression without requiring everyone to tag the same enemy or remain in one area.
- The group accepts that a server-wide XP rule changes the normal progression economy.
Questions to settle before enabling it
Decide whether the shared amount should apply to every XP-granting action or only to the situations your group considers cooperative. The listing’s statement establishes the equal-grant behavior, but the current release determines installation scope, configuration, and any exclusions. Confirm those details on the live page before choosing client-only or server-side deployment.

Testing and rollback
- Back up the world and note each player’s level.
- Install the release that matches the server’s game build, following its current client/server instructions.
- Perform one controlled XP-granting action with all intended players connected.
- Check that every player receives the expected equivalent amount and that reconnecting does not duplicate awards.
- If results are incorrect, stop the server, restore the backup, and remove the mod rather than continuing to accumulate altered progression.
EMBER: a broad tuning toolkit, not a compatibility guarantee
EMBER is best considered when the group wants several configurable adjustments rather than one narrowly defined feature. Its listing presents a collection focused on stability, client/server safety, debugging, and balance. That breadth is useful for an experienced host who wants a central place to tune a private session, but it also means more interaction points with future game changes.
Use EMBER when you can manage configuration
Choose it for a test-oriented group that is comfortable reading configuration notes, changing one option at a time, and isolating failures. Keep a written record of enabled features and values. If you turn on several balance changes simultaneously, you may not be able to identify which one caused a crash, desynchronization, or unexpected progression.
Why it is not a universal mod layer
The listing’s emphasis on safety and stability does not make EMBER a guaranteed compatibility layer for every other mod. Treat it as a toolkit with its own release requirements. Before combining it with Creative Mode, Global XP Share, or a server access tool, check whether the current versions explicitly support coexistence. If no compatibility statement exists, test on a separate world.
Controlled rollout
- Duplicate the server configuration and save data.
- Install EMBER according to the current listing, starting with its default configuration.
- Enable a single desired tweak and test joining, combat, saving, and restarting.
- Add further changes one at a time, recording the result after each restart.
- Keep the clean configuration available so you can return to an unmodified baseline after an update.
Dedicated Server Allow-list: keep a private world private
Dedicated Server Allow-list solves an access problem rather than changing combat or progression. It adds an allowlist feature to a dedicated server, letting a private friend world restrict joins to approved accounts. This is useful when a server address is known beyond the intended group or when you want a clear admission process without changing the game’s other rules.

Plan the list before starting the server
- Choose one person to maintain the list and a backup administrator.
- Use the account identifiers and file format required by the current listing; do not guess at capitalization or separators.
- Add every regular player before opening the server to the group.
- Keep a copy of the allowlist configuration beside your world backup.
Test both sides of the gate
After installation, verify that an approved friend can join and that an unlisted account is refused. Also test what happens when the server restarts and when a player’s account name changes. If the server becomes inaccessible to everyone, stop it, restore the previous configuration, and reapply entries using the mod’s documented format.

Player PVP: experimental combat for groups that want friendly fire
Enshrouded does not include official PvP. Player PVP is an experimental patch whose description says it changes combat so weapons and skills can hit other players. It is therefore not a small quality-of-life tweak: it changes the baseline rules of every encounter in the affected session.
Agree on rules outside the game
Decide whether PvP is always active, limited to arenas, or used only for occasional tests. Establish what happens to dropped items, base attacks, accidental hits, and disagreements. The mod enables the possibility of player damage; it does not create a complete tournament rule set for your group.
Use a separate world first
- Copy your cooperative save and keep the original offline.
- Install the exact Player PVP release required for your game revision.
- Test a controlled duel with consenting players using low-value equipment.
- Confirm that ordinary creatures, skills, and server restarts still behave as expected.
- Only then decide whether the patch belongs on your main friend world.
Because the project is explicitly experimental and changes combat at a fundamental level, expect a higher chance of breakage after updates than with a server allowlist. Remove it by restoring the clean world if the group decides the new combat rules are not worth the maintenance.
Best Value
- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.
- Dual C-Clamp Hold - Worried your dual monitors might wobble or slip? Our upgraded base uses a larger platform plus a dual C-clamp structure to lock the dual monitor arm firmly to your desk. Each arm safely keeps your screens steady while you type, click and game—no shaking, no sliding, just a clean and secure setup you can trust every day. It also provides Grommet Mounting installation choice, both options ensure stable and secure fixation for your 0.59" - 3.54" desk.
- Full-Motion Adjustment For Comfortable View - Pull the screen closer when you’re deep in a spreadsheet, push it back to watch videos, or rotate to portrait for coding — moving everything smoothly with just one hand. The monitor stand offers +85°/-50° tilt, ±90° swivel and 360° rotation. Raise your monitor up to 15.75″ to support a healthy sitting posture. Whether you’re working from home, gaming through the night, or switching between video calls and documents, getting the screens to your natural line of sight helps relieve neck, shoulder and back strain so you can stay focused longer with less fatigue.
- Keep Your Desk Organized: By lifting both screens off the desktop, this dual monitor stand opens up valuable space for your keyboard, notebook, docking station or a simple, clutter-free work area. Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
Dedicated-server hosting considerations
A persistent world is attractive for friends who play at different times, but hosting adds a file-management responsibility. The dedicated-server guide notes that rented hosts may need a way to upload files next to the server executable for some mods. A host that only exposes in-game settings may not support a mod requiring server files.
Questions to ask a host
- Can you upload and replace files beside the Enshrouded server executable?
- Can you stop the server before changing files and restart it after the change?
- Can you download world saves and configuration backups?
- Which Enshrouded game build does the host support, and how quickly does it apply updates?
- Can you roll back a file or restore a previous backup if a mod fails?
Do not choose a provider solely because it advertises Enshrouded. Verify current file-upload capability, game-version support, backup access, and the provider’s current terms before paying for a server.
Installation workflow for a whole friend group
Because there is no shared official mod manager, use a written checklist that separates client work from host work.
- Define the goal. Write down whether you need building tools, shared XP, balance controls, access restriction, or PvP. Check native server settings for the same goal.
- Read the current listing. Confirm the release date, supported game version, dependencies, multiplayer scope, and whether the author requires a loader, save edit, client files, or server files.
- Freeze a backup. Stop the game or server, copy world saves and configuration, and label the clean copy.
- Assign responsibilities. Name the dedicated-server administrator and identify which players actually need client files.
- Install one change. Do not combine several new mods in the same troubleshooting session.
- Test privately. Check loading, joining, the intended feature, ordinary gameplay, saving, and restarting.
- Document the result. Record game build, mod version, configuration, and which players installed client files.
- Expand carefully. Add another mod only after the first one survives a normal play session.
How to manage updates and recover from a failure
Before an Enshrouded patch
Ask everyone to avoid launching the modded world until the host confirms compatibility. Check each listing, not just the mod that appears to have caused the problem; a shared loader or server component may be the actual dependency.
After an update
- Record the new game build.
- Check every installed listing for an updated release or an incompatibility notice.
- Start the server without inviting the full group.
- Test joining and saving with one administrator account.
- Restore the previous build or clean backup if the world will not load or players desynchronize.
When a player cannot join
- Compare the player’s game build with the server’s build.
- Confirm that the player has only the client files the listing requires, with no stale copy from an older release.
- Check whether the feature is host-only or requires server files.
- Try the clean backup to distinguish a world problem from a mod-installation problem.
Which mod should your group choose?
| Your group’s problem | First option to evaluate | Reason | Main caution |
|---|---|---|---|
| Building projects take too long | Creative Mode | Provides creative tools and flight for players who install the client files | Back up saves and install server files for a dedicated server |
| Players level at different speeds while exploring separately | Global XP Share | Shares the equivalent XP from an XP-granting action with everyone on the server | Confirm current scope and test progression on a backup |
| You want several stability, debugging, or balance controls | EMBER | Offers a configurable toolkit rather than one isolated tweak | Its breadth does not guarantee compatibility with other mods |
| Only approved friends should join | Dedicated Server Allow-list | Adds access control to a dedicated server | Preserve the configuration and test both approved and unlisted accounts |
| You want consensual player combat | Player PVP | Patches combat so weapons and skills can hit other players | It is experimental and changes the game’s official no-PvP baseline |
For most first-time modded groups, start with one narrowly defined goal and a restorable backup. Creative Mode is the most straightforward cooperative recommendation because its multiplayer scope is explicitly described for hosted worlds and dedicated servers. Global XP Share is the cleanest answer to split-party progression. EMBER suits hosts willing to maintain a configurable toolkit. Dedicated Server Allow-list addresses privacy without redesigning gameplay. Player PVP belongs on a separate test world unless every participant actively wants experimental combat.
