The right setup depends on your input device and what feels controllable. Open the game menu, choose the gear icon, then select the tab for your input method; the available options can vary with the mode selected in the lobby or currently being played. For PC performance options, use the Video tab.
What changes in Solo Reload—and what does not
Epic Games Store describes Reload as a 40-player mode with Solo, Duo, and Squad play, in Battle Royale and Zero Build variants. Solo players should keep reboots in mind and be ready to manage the end game, but that format does not create a universal sensitivity or control layout. Epic’s settings guidance is organized around input method and mode, not a Solo Reload-specific preset.

Use your current settings as a starting point. Adjust one or two options at a time, then judge them in actual play: keep a change only if it helps you aim, track and turn with control. This is a practical tuning method, not an officially tested setup.

Mouse and keyboard: tune sensitivity and keybinds
Sensitivity
Epic’s guidance confirms that you can adjust settings for your input method, but does not specify a best mouse sensitivity, DPI or eDPI for Solo Reload. Avoid treating a creator’s numbers or a single preset as authoritative without current, attributable evidence. Start with your familiar settings and change one sensitivity variable at a time. A useful setting is one that lets you track a target and turn when needed without sacrificing control; the balance is personal.

Keybinds
Open the Keyboard Controls tab to customize key assignments. Epic defines key mapping as assigning functions to keys or buttons, so choose a layout that suits your hands rather than searching for a universal competitive arrangement. As general ergonomic guidance, keep frequently used actions reachable without disrupting movement; this is not a layout endorsed by Epic.
To customize Creative-specific actions, scroll to Creative Input Actions in the Keyboard Controls tab. That section covers those actions; it is not the only place to configure keybinds.

Controller: use the controller settings for your device
Open the controller settings tab and, where the option is available, select the controller configuration that matches the controller you use. The controls and settings shown can depend on the selected game mode. Nintendo Switch does not have a keyboard settings tab.
Epic does not provide a universal controller sensitivity or dead-zone value for Solo Reload in the guidance cited here. Begin with settings you can already control, adjust a single value at a time, and keep changes only when they improve your own aiming and turning. Do not assume a mouse-and-keyboard recommendation translates directly to a controller.

PC performance: when to try Performance Mode
Performance Mode is a PC rendering option that trades visual fidelity for a potential performance benefit. Epic says enabling it “may increase your frames per second (FPS)”; the guidance does not guarantee an increase for every computer or specify a frame rate.
- Open Fortnite settings and select the Video tab.
- Under Rendering Mode, choose Performance.
- Apply the change, then restart Fortnite.
If you prefer the game’s higher visual fidelity, keep your existing rendering mode. The available evidence does not quantify the visual or performance trade-off across different PCs.

Epic says removing high-resolution textures saves over 15 GB of installation space and may help computer performance. Treat this as an optional PC storage and performance choice, not a guaranteed fix or a universal requirement.
