The 2026 Steam Autumn Sale runs October 1–8, ending at 10 a.m. Pacific on October 8. The best games on discount are not necessarily the ones with the biggest percentage cut: check the price in your region against its recorded price history before buying. Sale listings and prices can change, so verify them while the sale is live.
How to find the best Steam Autumn Sale games for your budget
Start with the kinds of games you actually want to play, then compare their current regional prices with recorded lows. A broad sale roundup can surface possibilities, but “best” depends on genre, play style, budget, and whether the price is compelling for you.

- Choose a genre or play style. Use Steam’s tags and filters to narrow the catalog by genre, features, release date, rating, and review count rather than browsing every discounted game.
- Check the current price in your region. SteamDB’s price tool shows live Steam pricing and regional prices. Its deal rating is based on the discount percentage, while its price-history pages show the lowest price captured in the tracking window and a log of price changes. Compare the game’s current price with that history for your region; a large discount does not by itself mean the game is at a record low. SteamDB
- Decide whether the game suits you. A low price is useful only if the genre, features, and play style match what you want. Treat editorial roundups as starting points, not personalized recommendations.
- Wishlist games you may buy later. Valve says a discount of 20% or more can trigger email notifications for users who have wishlisted a game. A planned wishlist can also help you stick to games you meant to buy instead of purchasing something solely because it is discounted. Steamworks seasonal-sale guidance
What the sale catalog and example prices tell you
The catalog is large enough that filters matter: PC Gamer reported, citing SteamDB, 44,048 games priced under $5 during the sale on October 1, 2026. That is a dated snapshot, not a live count or a Valve figure. PC Gamer’s sale coverage
GamesRadar+’s October 2026 roundup listed the following examples. These are that publication’s reported sale-time prices and discount, not guarantees of today’s price or independent confirmation that either game is at a historical low. Check the Steam listing and regional price history before buying. GamesRadar+’s roundup

| Game | Reported sale price | Reported discount | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Arc Raiders | $19.99 / £17.49 | Not stated by GamesRadar+ | GamesRadar+ called this its lowest price at publication; confirm the current regional price and price history before treating it as a low. |
| Total War: Warhammer III | $8.99 / £7.49 | 85% | GamesRadar+ reported this discount during the sale; a large percentage cut alone does not establish a historical low. |
Why the discount badge is not enough
Steam’s displayed discount tells you how much the current price has been reduced from its reference price; it does not establish that the game has never sold for less. SteamDB’s history is useful for putting that badge in context, but any “lowest price” comparison should specify the region and the tracking window. A low captured price in one currency or market is not necessarily the low for your account’s region.
Valve’s sale documentation explains how seasonal events work, but it does not certify that a particular game is discounted or at a historical low. The sale is open to released games; featured placement can depend on tags, popularity, and recommendations, so visibility on the event page is not a guarantee that a game is the best fit for you. When the 2026 Autumn Sale ends
Valve lists the sale as running October 1–8, 2026, starting at 10 a.m. Pacific. The event window gives a clear deadline, but there is no need to rush into a purchase before checking the game, the price in your region, and its price history. Steamworks event information
