For photos and a collection to fill
New Pokémon Snap is the nearest match for the photo-taking loop: players explore habitats, take pictures, edit them, and build a collection in the Photodex. Nintendo describes it as a chance to “Photograph lively wild Pokémon in their natural habitats as you research and explore unknown islands.” It is a one-player game on one system according to Nintendo, and its Pokémon setting is not a substitute for Bluey’s characters or pretend-play scenarios.

For Bluey characters and mini-games
Bluey: The Videogame is the more direct choice when seeing Bluey’s world is the priority. ESRB describes an adventure game involving exploration of Bluey locations and mini-games. Choose it for that character-led adventure rather than expecting the photography and scrapbook mechanics described for Happy Snaps.
For the specific Happy Snaps experience
The official description of Bluey’s Happy Snaps combines exploring familiar places, photographing activities and wildlife, and decorating a scrapbook. Nintendo lists one- or two-player play on a single Switch system and says the game has no online play or in-game purchases. Its official release date is October 15, 2026, so this is an announced upcoming game as of October 13, not a confirmed released or in-stock product.
#1 Best Overall
- New Pokémon Snap is coming!
- Get ready for New Pokémon Snap, an all-new adventure for Nintendo Switch that's inspired by the classic Nintendo 64 game, Pokémon Snap.
- Photograph lively wild Pokémon in their natural habitats as you research and explore unknown islands. Hop in your trusty travel pod, the NEO-ONE, and journey through a variety of environments such as beaches, jungles, and deserts to capture previously-unseen Pokémon behaviors. You can even toss Pokémon a delicious fluffruit to catch their attention. Photos you take can also be used to fill out your very own Pokémon Photodex!
- In the Lental region, Pokémon and vegetation have sometimes been seen to glow. Meet Professor Mirror and work with him to uncover the mystery of the Illumina Phenomenon. Your photos and observations may be key to learning about this strange occurrence.
Bluey’s official page announces a physical retail edition for PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and Switch 2 in select markets. The listed digital platforms also include PS4 and PC. Check local release information and retailer availability rather than assuming a physical edition is offered everywhere.
For a screen-free option
Bluey’s official games hub points families toward board games and puzzles. That makes these categories worth considering when the goal is to play away from a screen, but the hub does not establish which individual products are available, their complexity, or an appropriate age range.
Rank #2
- See a different side of Pokémon in a new photo-snapping adventure, only on Nintendo Switch
- Explore unknown islands with scenery like lush jungles and tropical beaches throughout your journey
- Research various Pokémon in their natural habitats and capture Pokémon behaviors that you don’t normally see
- Meet Professor Mirror and work with him to uncover the mystery of the Illumina phenomenon and Pokémon with a special glow that can be found in the Lental region
- Take in-game photos to make your very own Pokémon Photodex
What ratings can—and cannot—tell you
Both New Pokémon Snap and Bluey: The Videogame carry ESRB Everyone ratings. ESRB says ratings describe content and interactive elements; an Everyone rating is generally suited for all ages, but it does not show whether a particular child can comfortably follow the controls, read the text, or understand the objectives. Consider those practical demands alongside the rating. Nintendo’s parent guide explains rating categories and content descriptors.
