Pick Deus Ex if the memorable part of GoldenEye was working out how to approach a mission rather than simply clearing every room. Its appeal here is choice of approach; do not expect the same Bond setting or a mechanically identical shooter.

For stealth first
Pick Splinter Cell if you most enjoyed moving carefully through guarded areas. It takes that stealth preference further, with less emphasis on GoldenEye’s balance between sneaking and open combat.
For first-person campaign pacing
Choose Return to Castle Wolfenstein or Far Cry if you want older first-person action more than espionage or objective flexibility. Both are listed in GOG’s FPS catalogue, but their settings and mission designs are not GoldenEye-like in the same way.

For a Bond-flavored modern game
007 First Light is the fit for readers who want the franchise and a contemporary espionage premise. Its third-person action-adventure framing makes it a looser match for GoldenEye’s first-person missions.

A community PC port of GoldenEye exists
The GoldenEye 007 PC Port project describes itself as “GoldenEye 007 (Nintendo 64, 1997) on the PC — decompiled, ported, and playable at 60 fps.” That is the project’s own description, not an independent performance test. Its v0.4.0 release, dated September 28, 2026, is pre-1.0; the project documentation states: “This is a pre-1.0 release, not a finished product.” The project says the complete single-player campaign is playable at 60 fps on Windows and Linux, including Steam Deck, and documents keyboard/mouse and controller input. Read the project documentation.
You must provide a compatible NTSC-U ROM yourself. The project does not distribute the ROM or game assets, so this is a community project requiring user-supplied game data—not an official commercial PC release or a turnkey store purchase.
