| Game | Best match for | Core activities | Pressure and combat | Co-op scale |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sun Haven | Farming, relationships and fantasy RPG progression | Farm building, quests, relationships, skill progression, exploration | Monsters and RPG combat add danger without making survival the entire game | Up to eight players |
| Core Keeper | Mining, crafting, exploration and survival systems | Mining, building, fighting, crafting, farming and exploration | Survival-crafting is central; expect more pressure than a conventional farm sim | One to eight players |
| Coral Island | Relaxed farming with social play and co-op | Island farming, animal care, relationships, crafting and exploration | Farm-life structure is the focus, with exploration available for players who want more than chores | Four farmers |
| Roots of Pacha | A close Stardew-like farm-life structure without combat | Farming, community development and cooperative play | No combat | Four-player co-op |
| Fields of Mistria | Another farm-sim option for players prioritizing relationships and routine | Farm development and life-sim progression | The cited guide includes it among farm-sim picks; its combat balance is not used here as a deciding claim | The cited material does not establish a player count |
If you want one recommendation rather than a shortlist, start with Sun Haven for the strongest Stardew-style social and farming overlap, Core Keeper for the clearest Don’t Starve-style survival-crafting bridge, and Coral Island for the gentlest shared farm experience.
What Stardew Valley and Don’t Starve actually have in common
Both reference games reward gathering resources, crafting useful items, exploring spaces beyond the home base and gradually expanding what your character can do. That overlap is why “games like Stardew Valley” and “more chill survival” often appear in the same search. Their emotional rhythms are nevertheless opposite.
Stardew Valley’s low-pressure progression
Stardew Valley’s official description presents an open-ended country-life RPG. You can plant crops, raise animals, fish, explore caves, fight monsters and build relationships with townspeople. The calendar and energy systems create routine, but the game generally lets you choose which goals to pursue and when. Social progression is not an optional decoration: dating, marriage and community relationships are named parts of the feature set.

Klei describes Don’t Starve Together as “the standalone multiplayer expansion to the uncompromising wilderness survival game, Don’t Starve.” Its official support information lists gathering, crafting, building, exploration and cooperation in a harsh environment. Steam, PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, iOS and Android are listed as supported platforms. The game is therefore a useful benchmark for survival pressure, but not the safest assumption for someone who means “cozy” as completely consequence-free.
The recommendations below are deliberately split by that difference. A farming game can have monsters and caves without demanding constant survival management; a survival sandbox can include building and farming without offering Stardew-style relationships.
Sun Haven: the farming-and-fantasy choice
Sun Haven is the best first stop for players who want the social and agricultural side of Stardew Valley, but would enjoy a more overt fantasy-RPG frame. Its Steam description combines farm building, relationships, quests, monsters and skill progression. That combination gives you a familiar home-base routine while adding a broader adventure layer.

Why it fits Stardew players
- Farm building: The farm remains a place to invest in and customize rather than merely a temporary survival shelter.
- Relationships: Social progression is a stated feature, so players who treat conversations and bonds as part of the main loop have a clear reason to choose it.
- Quests and skills: The RPG structure gives daily work a longer-term progression path beyond increasing crop output.
- Fantasy danger: Monsters introduce combat and exploration without changing the game into a pure wilderness-survival simulator.
Who should choose it
Pick Sun Haven when your ideal evening is tending a farm, completing a quest, improving a character build and then spending time with residents. It is also the strongest multiplayer choice among the three lead recommendations if your group has more than four people: the Steam listing supports up to eight players.

It is less suitable if you want the scarcity, base-defense anxiety or environmental harshness that defines Don’t Starve Together. The available description establishes monsters and RPG progression, not a claim that every day is a survival emergency.
Price and availability
The US Steam price was $24.99 when checked on October 13, 2026. Steam pricing and regional availability can change, so treat that figure as a dated snapshot rather than a permanent price.
Core Keeper: the closest bridge to survival crafting
Core Keeper is the most natural recommendation for a reader asking for “more chill/survival type games” or wondering about games similar to Core Keeper itself. Steam describes it as a mining sandbox adventure for one to eight players, combining mining, building, fighting, crafting, farming and exploration.
Why it fits Don’t Starve fans
Core Keeper puts resource gathering and discovery at the center of progression. Mining expands the space you can reach and the materials you can use; crafting and building turn those materials into infrastructure; fighting and exploration keep the world from becoming a purely domestic routine. Farming is present, but it supports a larger underground adventure rather than replacing it.
Why Stardew players may still enjoy it
The game retains a satisfying cycle of collecting materials, improving a home base and deciding which project to tackle next. If your favorite Stardew moments are preparing a new area, organizing production and exploring caves, Core Keeper extends those activities instead of asking you to spend most of your time on relationships.

Pressure, danger and group size
Core Keeper is the pick for players who want real survival-crafting emphasis, but its one-to-eight-player format lets you distribute work in a group. A solo player can focus on a self-directed expedition; a larger group can divide mining, construction, farming and combat responsibilities. The listing confirms fighting and exploration, so choose it with the expectation that danger is part of the regular loop.
Price and sale timing
The US Steam listing showed a regular price of $19.99 and a sale price of $11.99 on October 13, 2026. That sale was listed as ending October 22, 2026. Because both the discount and end date are volatile, verify the live Steam page before purchasing.
Coral Island: the relaxed cooperative farm
Coral Island suits players who want an inviting farm-sim structure, relationships and exploration, with multiplayer that is easier to organize than a large survival server. Its official Steam listing covers island farming, animal care, relationships, crafting and exploration, and supports a four-farmer multiplayer mode.
What makes it cozy
- Island setting: The setting gives farming and exploration a distinct identity instead of copying a rural mainland town.
- Animal care: Livestock and routine husbandry are explicit parts of the play loop for players who enjoy building a productive homestead.
- Relationships: Social progression remains a central reason to return between work sessions.
- Crafting and exploration: You can leave the fields for resource projects and discovery without turning every activity into a combat run.
Who should choose it
Choose Coral Island when your group wants to farm together, share a relaxed schedule and still have optional projects beyond planting and harvesting. Four farmers is enough for a small friend group, but it is a firm ceiling compared with Sun Haven’s eight-player support and Core Keeper’s one-to-eight range.
It is not presented here as a Don’t Starve replacement. The documented feature set emphasizes island life, animals, relationships, crafting and exploration; it does not establish the same harsh survival premise as Klei’s game.
Price and availability
The US Steam listing showed $29.99 on October 13, 2026. As with the other storefront figures, the amount is date- and region-specific and may change.

Roots of Pacha and Fields of Mistria: farm-life alternatives
For readers who mainly mean “a new Stardew-like farm sim,” PC Gamer’s farm-sim guide, updated August 6, 2026, adds two useful secondary options: Roots of Pacha and Fields of Mistria.
Roots of Pacha
Roots of Pacha is described in that guide as a particularly close Stardew-style choice. It supports four-player co-op and has no combat, making it a strong fit for players who want community and farm-life progression without monster fighting. That no-combat design also means it is not a substitute for Don’t Starve’s danger; it belongs on the relaxed end of this list.
Fields of Mistria
Fields of Mistria appears in the same farm-sim guide for players looking for another relationship- and routine-focused alternative. The cited material supports its inclusion as a farm-life recommendation, but does not establish a current US price or a multiplayer player count here. Check the current storefront and feature list for those details before buying.

If relationships and daily routine come first
Start with Sun Haven, then consider Coral Island. Sun Haven adds quests, skills and monsters to the farm-and-social structure; Coral Island keeps the emphasis on island farming, animals and relationships while supporting four-player co-op. Roots of Pacha is the quieter choice if you specifically want no combat.
If mining and base building are the attraction
Choose Core Keeper. Its description places mining, building, crafting and exploration alongside farming, so the home base is part of a larger resource-and-discovery project. It is the recommendation least likely to feel like a conventional farm sim.

Sun Haven provides monsters within a fantasy-RPG framework. Core Keeper adds fighting to a mining sandbox and should feel more survival-oriented. Roots of Pacha is the wrong choice for this preference because its cited distinction is the absence of combat.
Best Value
- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.
- Dual C-Clamp Hold - Worried your dual monitors might wobble or slip? Our upgraded base uses a larger platform plus a dual C-clamp structure to lock the dual monitor arm firmly to your desk. Each arm safely keeps your screens steady while you type, click and game—no shaking, no sliding, just a clean and secure setup you can trust every day. It also provides Grommet Mounting installation choice, both options ensure stable and secure fixation for your 0.59" - 3.54" desk.
- Full-Motion Adjustment For Comfortable View - Pull the screen closer when you’re deep in a spreadsheet, push it back to watch videos, or rotate to portrait for coding — moving everything smoothly with just one hand. The monitor stand offers +85°/-50° tilt, ±90° swivel and 360° rotation. Raise your monitor up to 15.75″ to support a healthy sitting posture. Whether you’re working from home, gaming through the night, or switching between video calls and documents, getting the screens to your natural line of sight helps relieve neck, shoulder and back strain so you can stay focused longer with less fatigue.
- Keep Your Desk Organized: By lifting both screens off the desktop, this dual monitor stand opens up valuable space for your keyboard, notebook, docking station or a simple, clutter-free work area. Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
If you want the harshest wilderness pressure
Return to Don’t Starve Together itself. It remains the baseline for uncompromising cooperative survival, with gathering, crafting, building and exploration in a harsh environment. None of the three lead recommendations should be described as a direct replacement for that pressure level.
If your group size decides the purchase
| Group situation | Best fit | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Solo player | Any of the three lead games | Core Keeper explicitly lists one to eight players; Sun Haven and Coral Island are also presented with multiplayer modes, so solo choice should be based on preferred loop. |
| Two to four friends | Coral Island, Sun Haven or Core Keeper | All three support a group within that range. |
| Five to eight friends | Sun Haven or Core Keeper | Sun Haven supports up to eight; Core Keeper supports one to eight. Coral Island’s documented mode supports four farmers. |
| More than eight friends | None of the documented recommendations | The largest stated player count in this set is eight. |

How to avoid choosing the wrong kind of “cozy”
The word cozy can describe atmosphere, pacing or the absence of punishment, and those are not the same thing. Before buying, answer these questions:
- Do I want a calendar and household routine? Favor Sun Haven, Coral Island, Roots of Pacha or Fields of Mistria.
- Do I want the world to push back through resource pressure and danger? Favor Core Keeper, or use Don’t Starve Together as the uncompromising benchmark.
- Do I need romance and community bonds? Stardew Valley’s official feature list makes those systems explicit; the cited descriptions for Sun Haven and Coral Island also explicitly include relationships.
- Do I need combat? Sun Haven and Core Keeper explicitly include monsters or fighting. Roots of Pacha is specifically noted as having no combat.
- How many people will play? Check the stated cap before planning a group: eight for Sun Haven, one to eight for Core Keeper, four farmers for Coral Island and four-player co-op for Roots of Pacha.
Answering those questions prevents the most common mismatch: buying a farm sim while expecting wilderness survival, or buying a survival sandbox while expecting a deep relationship schedule.
What to expect from updates and storefront information
Feature lists, supported platforms, multiplayer limits and prices can change through updates. The platform list for Don’t Starve Together comes from Klei’s official support information, while the feature and price details for the three lead recommendations come from their Steam listings checked on October 13, 2026. Recheck the live store page if a specific platform, discount or co-op arrangement is decisive.
ConcernedApe’s official Stardew Valley press information reported more than 41 million copies sold across all platforms as of December 2024, including more than 26 million PC copies and 7.9 million Nintendo Switch copies. Those are publisher-reported historical figures, not a 2026 sales total, but they help explain why Stardew’s blend of farming, relationships and exploration remains the reference point for this genre.
Final recommendation
Buy Sun Haven for the closest all-round Stardew-style progression with fantasy quests, relationships and up-to-eight-player support. Buy Core Keeper when the phrase “cozy survival” means mining, crafting, exploration and a base that grows through resource work. Buy Coral Island when a four-person group wants a relaxed island farm with animals, relationships and optional exploration. Keep Roots of Pacha in reserve for a no-combat farm sim, and choose Don’t Starve Together only when harsh cooperative survival—not just a cozy aesthetic—is the priority.
