The best gaming mouse for your PS5 is one that works with the connection you plan to use and, crucially, with the game you want to play. PS5 supports USB and Bluetooth mice at the system level, but game developers decide whether a title accepts mouse input. Sony also warns that not every mouse works with the console. Check both points before buying; the models below are examples, not PS5 compatibility guarantees.
What makes a gaming mouse work on PS5?
There are two separate compatibility questions. First, can the console connect to and recognize the mouse? Second, does the particular game support mouse input? PlayStation says USB and Bluetooth mice are supported at a system level, while leaving game-level support to developers in its PS5 FAQ. Its current setup guidance adds a practical caveat: “Not all devices work with your console.” A mouse appearing in Bluetooth discovery does not prove it is compatible.
That means there is no universally best PS5 gaming mouse based on specifications alone. Confirm that the exact game supports mouse input, then check the mouse’s connection method and suitability for your setup. If you mainly play titles that do not support mouse input, a high-DPI gaming mouse will not change that.

Sony INZONE Mouse-A: published specifications
Sony describes the INZONE Mouse-A as ultra-lightweight. Its 2026 announcement lists a weight of 48.4 g, battery life of up to 90 hours, sensitivity of up to 30,000 DPI, acceleration of up to 70G, maximum speed of 750 IPS and polling rate of up to 8,000Hz. These are all manufacturer-stated figures, not independent measurements. Sony said the mouse would be available from August 19, 2026, at a UK/EU recommended retail price of £150 / €180. That is launch pricing, not a current retailer price or a price that should be assumed for other regions. Sony says its INZONE products were co-developed with Fnatic. SteelSeries Aerox 9 Wireless: an editorial pick, not a guarantee
PC Guide’s PS5 peripherals roundup names the Aerox 9 Wireless in its overall keyboard-and-mouse combo recommendation. Treat that as a shortlist lead, not proof that the mouse works with your console or a particular game. Verify the exact connection mode and game support before purchasing.

Razer Viper V4 Pro: a general gaming award
Tom’s Guide’s 2026 awards coverage names the Viper V4 Pro its best gaming mouse and reports up to 50,000 DPI, 8,000Hz polling and claimed battery life of up to 180 hours. Those are Tom’s Guide-reported figures for a general gaming mouse; the award is not a PS5 compatibility test.
How to choose a mouse for your setup
Once game support is confirmed, choose around how you play rather than chasing the largest numbers on a spec sheet. Comfort and dependable tracking are usually more useful to most buyers than maximum DPI or polling rate, as PC Guide’s buying guidance notes.

- Fit and control: Consider the mouse’s shape, your hand size and grip, and whether you can control it comfortably for long sessions. A feature-heavy mouse is not a good fit if its shape or weight makes it difficult to use.
- Weight and battery: Wireless mice avoid a cable but need charging. Compare manufacturer-published weight and battery claims where available, and remember that claimed battery life is not an independent test result.
- Price and availability: Check local retailers for current pricing. Treat Sony’s quoted INZONE Mouse-A figure as UK/EU launch RRP only, not a current offer.
- Setup needs: Check whether the model depends on PC software or settings for features you care about. The sources here do not establish what configuration software or feature support is available on PS5.
How to connect and configure a mouse on PS5
PlayStation’s support page gives these paths for connection and basic settings:
- For wired USB or a wireless USB receiver: Connect the mouse or receiver to the PS5’s USB port. Then open Settings > Accessories > Other Accessories to set left- or right-handed use and pointer speed.
- For Bluetooth: Put the mouse into pairing mode. On the PS5, open Settings > Accessories > General > Bluetooth Accessories, then select the mouse if it appears. Sony cautions that an incompatible device may still appear in the list.
- Test it in the intended game: A working pointer in system settings does not show that a game supports mouse controls. Check that title’s current documentation or settings and try its supported input in-game.
Why a mouse may not work in a PS5 game
The game does not support mouse input
This is the first thing to check if the mouse connects to the console but has no effect in a game. System-level peripheral support does not require every title to accept mouse controls. Look for current confirmation in the game’s own documentation or settings.

The console does not recognize the mouse
Try the connection method specified for the exact mouse, and confirm Bluetooth pairing mode or the USB connection. A Bluetooth listing is not conclusive: Sony says devices that are not compatible can still appear during discovery. The official guidance does not guarantee that all mice or wireless receivers will work.
A compatibility list may be outdated or incomplete
PlayStation Universe’s PS5 keyboard-and-mouse compatibility list, dated April 24, 2026, names examples including Black Myth: Wukong, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Destiny 2, Minecraft, Planet Coaster 2, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and War Thunder. Should you use a controller-mimicking adapter?
Do not treat an adapter that makes mouse input imitate a controller as a reliable way around a game’s input limits. PC Guide cautions that such devices may violate a game’s terms of service. Rules can vary by game, and the official PlayStation material cited here does not establish a universal policy for every title; check the specific game’s terms rather than assuming an adapter is allowed.
Do you need a mouse pad?
No special mouse pad is established as a requirement for PS5 mouse support. Sony announced two optional pads alongside the INZONE Mouse-A: the Mat-F, a 6 mm surface intended for lower-sensitivity control, and the Mat-D, a 4 mm surface intended for smoother, faster movement.
